KCI requires the holy grail of hate from us. Graveyard/artifact/lands/surgical to combat it's efficiency, durability, and redundancy.

The first three is to buy time at the very least so they have to spend time to rebuild hopefully as we pressure with a resolved living end. If they do have the tools to rebuild, hopefully we can land a slaughter games naming KCI.

Not really though. Their combo is slightly slower than us, so if you can keep him of 4 mana every turn you will probably kil them. I play a jund charm as a swiss for they do get to combo off though.

Are people seriously rotbeasting? I have never been a fan of Architects of Will but I think I would FAR sooner run them than rotbeast. If you are running rotbeast because it's a creature you can cast on 4 that just seems like a failing strategy to me, since it is so easily dealt with by so many removal spells that would be otherwise dead against you.

That being said I still run Deadshot and have not looked back. The ability has not been irrelevant, but the 2 colors cycling and 4 toughness have been gamewinners for me. I have always subscribed to the idea that any creature in your deck that does not sac itself (fulminator, Shriekmaw) should be bolt proof, just to invalidate many of your opponents cards as well as the common red board wipes like anger of the gods.

Yes, Lurching Rotbeast is an extremely subpar cycler, I would much rather play Architects than that, or even a 2 mana cycler like Archfiend of Ifnir or Twisted Abomination.

Playing Deadshot minotaur has a cost, tho. You can't play Faerie macabre in the main because you are going to kill it very often. And as for Graveyard haste is concerned, i think that the faerie is way better than Leyline of the void.

I also tried Krosan Grip and i think it underperforms. You normally can play around Nihil or Relic by out cycling it and destroying it with an ingot chewer/ beast within. I find that Ingot is way better in this case, regardless of Krosan grip effect is more powerful.

    Currently this is my list:

I cut the Beast within's main board to deal with the slew of fast decks that are currently in the meta. For example, even tough i love Archfiend of Ifnir, i think that haven a full set of them is to slow for matches like burn or zoo, so the best thing to do is to cut it for 2 and maindecking shriekmaw and Faerie macabre. The key to this configuration is figuring out what cards are most likely deck cards in most scenarios. Right now Faerie macabre is not a dead card in almost any scenario, having a legit grave hate or as a pump to Horror of the broken lands. Also this sideboard cruises on jeskai control with avalanche riders and 3 ricochet traps. Also a Jund charm that works as a Swiss option, including an extra pryoclasm for the humans matchup.

With this sideboard we can go toe to toe with the rest of the more competitive field. Humans get overwhelmed with the angers and shriekmaws; Jeskai, Tron, Valakut and Amulet titan get denied with your 2 extra land destruction engines; Jund, Mardu, Affinity and Bogles had always a bad matchup against us, so we are good. The only problem would be Burn, but you can't always win them all.

You guys certainly haven't been beated by 3+ meddling mages. They effectively have 8 meddling mages on the deck, if you count Phantasmal image. Also the worst one is Thalia, setting us 2 turns back (If you hit all your landdrops) is brutal.

    Burning of the Books 1R
    Sorcery (Uncommon)
Each player draws 5 cards, then randomly discards 5 cards

I REALLY want a bigger version of burning inquiry.

Maybe i'm wrong, but i have a strange feelign that Burning inquiry will be banned in modern, or at least restricted. That cards has singlehandedly destroyed slow midrange decks like Abzan. Because one of the things that made Midrange decks good against combo decks was it's beautifuly sculpted hands of every answer they would need against the meta. With Burning inquiry what's the point of keeping a hand, since you are just gonna blow almost half of it to the bin. Sure for Hollow one it's great, but not for the rest of players.

I think you are wrong about the fulminators being bad against control. I think they are amazing, specially if the control deck is a 3 colored deck. The most popular control deck right now is Jeskai and fulminator there is absolutely a champ. I think the more trickier control matchup for us is UW control, since you they can just play basics and essentially counter our Living Ends and pathing our threats or our board. The UW matchup is super tricky but still beatable if you manage a turn 2/3 Cascade without them countering or being tapped out.

Against the humans matchup: You absolutely need to diversify your removal. I've had badbeats where the opponent casts a medling mage then 2 phantasmal image naming Living end, then Shriekmaw then beast within so that they lock you out of the interaction. I think a copy of Anger of the gods has to be considered in the SB, as well as Pulse or jund charm.

Man i was making a template to make this primer a new facelist, based on the other primers. But i'm nowhere nearly done and i don't think i'l finish it anytime soon (Finishing my thesis and university mayor).

It certainly is interesting. altough having such a low count of creatures is concerning to me. It's not like the U/B deck version of as foretold has only cyclers to as a draw engine. i feel this deck is much less consitent because of that.

Have people given some thought on Karn, Scion of Urza in the Sideboard? like in the slot of a Thragtusk, that card is insanely good it can probably fit any deck.

Damn Wyvern, that's a bummer that you won't mod this thread anymore.

But like i told you, i would gladly update the primer to the new meta, and make it neater to see.

So i've been wanting to ask some thing regarding living end interactions:

    1. If your opponent has Nihil spellbomb in play and you go off with Living End, they respond sacrificing the spellbomb and exile your graveyard, can you then follow up with one or two Street Wraiths so that you get some value of your living end? And how do you explain that line of play to your opponent, passins priority or as a response to the Spellbomb ability?

    2. Is playing leyline of sanctity worth it? People in this sub seem to like it a lot, but i don't think that taking 4 slots in the SB is worth it.

    3. Can you Beast within a land against Valakut when they scapeshift before the triggers? or do you have to beast within it first. Halp with this matchup pls

I'm testing out the 2 living end list. I watched a video on the why behind it and it's worth testing.

Can you link to the video please?

Yes, you are right. The Jundillion Build is definitely doing work in competitive tournaments and leagues. I have tested the 2 Living end Strategy and it works fine and haven't had a problem with it at the moment. The problem. Altough drawing 1 Living End when you have two puts additional pressure on your gameplay. On the other hand i've been working with Thragtusk in the sideboard and i absolutely love them. It makes your casting big fatties plan infinitely much better against control decks.

I personally don't use Dead//Gone that much, altough it has it's utility as the cheapest removal in the deck. It's great against Humans and targetting meddling mage, or Mardu Pyro or Delver of secrets. Even a scooze tapped out for mana can be a great target from it. And because it only costs 1 red in a deck that you can't casts spells below 3, it usually saves you from t1 or t2 taxing creatures.

Thragtusk on the other hand is a great Midrange plan: When you just run out of living ends and you just rely on casting your creatures, Thragtusk gives so much value for the same cost than your best cyclers. you should side it against burn but knowing full well that you might not get the life value of him enter the battlefield ability

    Hello!
I'm new to living end but considering taking the deck to a team event, and have some questions. My build is fairly standard, md 3 SSG, 2 LE at this stage. (like this list )
Foremost: Does anyone have a updated sidaboard guide for the current meta?
Further regarding the board: What is the reasoning for K-command over more Ingot Chewers? In what matchups do we board it in, and with what plan?
Thragtusk in the board - is this really sufficient for beating burn? I guess it does a lot of heavy lifting hardcast against the grindier matchups of course.
Another note on sideboards: I feel there should probably be a point in diversifying the sideboard creature hate to get around multiple Meddling Mages from humans. Something like 3 Shriekmaw, 1-2 Dead//Gone, 1 Anger. Thoughts on this? Dead//Gone also feels useful against other aggro matchups, like burn and affinity.

I really like the feeling of playing this deck - instant speed card draw and sweepers along with land destruction and a fast clock is all I want in magic!

Grateful for any points in the right direction!

K command is a great sideboard tool against many other decks that ingot chewer can't hit. Specially against humans and hollow one. And Thagtusk is a great midrange card. Normally against Burn you should not expect to cast a thragtusk to save you the game: Instead, you should have to race them and kill them before they do. If you face lots of burn in your meta, you should put life-gain sideboard cards other than thragtusk. But thragtusk is much better suited to midrange games where we can already cast our creatures from our hand. In those matchups, if you can already cast your creatures, why not cast one of the best value creatures in the format? It costs the same amount of mana as Archfiend or Horror.
