What happens when the fakes start being printed on better cards stock then the new real cards, fakes that don't bend/warp/whatever it is that the recent sets do? I've been going through cards in my cube the past few weekend and it is amazing to me the amount of cards 1-2 yrs old that bend more than any cards 10-15yrs old.

    Skyship Hijacker 2U
    Creature - Human Pirate
Swindle 5U (You may cast this spell for its swindle cost. If you do, it enters the battlefield with a bounty counter on it.)
Skyship Hijacker gets +2/+2 and has flying as long as it has a bounty counter on it.
    2/3

I saw this and for whatever reason Jack Sparrow popped in my head

Well, then, I confess, it is my intention to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuga, raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weasely black guts out.

Tossing a coin to see who starts is not the same (the coin toss don't change the structure of the team). And please note sport fans do place bets on who wins the coin toss.

MtG is 100% a game of luck, or fortune if you would prefer a different word. That meets the definition of gambling.

Skill can, and does, reduce the amount of (or effect of) luck/fortune on the game, but it never eliminates it, unless there is cheating involved.

    So true Smile

Yes you can bet on the coin flip. There are 100 crazy bets you can make on the Super Bowl and who wins the coin flips is one.

He is link for an article saying a Federal Judge rules Poker is not a game of luck but of skill.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/22/nyregion/poker-is-more-a-game-of-skill-than-of-chance-a-judge-rules.html

When they have Video Game tournaments (like StarCraft, etc) do they know the map ahead of time or it random/unknown?

I have spent some time on this deck and want to know what yall think about it

The removal suite is pretty straight forward, take out all the Gideons and fatal push is mainly for Copter 2.0 (Heart of Kiran)

The 22 land count may seem low but I think it will work fine with the channelers being able to make use of the -1/-1 counter mechanics.

I want to see Bone Picker in this list but I honestly cant see where to put it unless it is in the board against some sort of flying heavy deck that we've unforeseen

Beetle gives a lot of flex in the add and remove counters area of our game plan.

I think the biggest contest here will be my inclusion of Liliana, Death Wielder and hear me out on this. With the amount of -1/-1 counters being thrown around, her -3 ability is going to be recurring removal against creature heavy strategies. Her +2 is going to synergize with Hapatra as well as nest to give board presence/chump blockers/ targets for the -1/-1 counters we don't want on our good stuff. And obviously if you ult her it's gonna get plain stupid.

The sideboard is a bit tougher for me. I am thinking of switching Hapatra's Mark for Blossoming Defense as both add hexproof and I think the combat trick will work better than the removal of counters we will be removing anyway with beetle and defiant greatmaw. Scrapheap Scrounger will shore up the control game a bit. Appetite for the Unnatural against Mardu Heart of Kiran (I refuse to call it vehicles since there is only one vehicle in it). I am still unsure how to combat the aggo matchup, so if anyone has ideas please let me know.

How has Decimator Beetle worked for you? I always found it way too slow and had very little impact for 5cmc. With only 22 lands (even with the Channelers) I think you'll have a hard time getting to 7 for Liliana. Even if you do kill 1 dude or put one -1/-1 seems underwhelming. Why no Crocodile of the Crossing? My 2 cents are that he and Blecher are the best cards "-1/-1" cards. My suggestion would be to cut lilian, beetle and splendid agony for some combo of Crocs and Pickers.

FYI you have Lord of the Undead in your actual deck list not ~of the Accursed. Through me for a loop there at first.

My friend added Emrakul's Evangel to the deck, it makes for some wild end of turn shenanigans, or responses to removal...sac all the scarabs being removed by Dec in Stone to get 3/2 Eldrazi Horrors? Yes please!

I don't know, that seems too slow and conditional. It's a three drop that just sits there and does nothing unless someone targets it and you only really get + value if have already have bunch of tokens out. You can't attack with it and aren't really going to be able to block anything but 1/X creatures. I currently have nest @3 which 'does nothing' when it comes into play I don't think I'm going to want more which is only really good if someone tries to wipe out a bunch of tokens.

I ran Dread Wanderer last night and it was quite the all-star. I don't care that is come into play tapped because normally I just use it for -1 counters dump. When he does attack the 2 power really is nice vs 1 (for mummy or pod) . Ran Throne of the God-Pharaoh. Seemed good, nothing special. Almost always was good for a few points of damage. Does anyone else have a problem where if you don't get a nest or Haptra to stick you feel like the deck just beats itself. Yeah I got this over powered guy but had to put counters on some other dude so am I really any better?? Also is anyone else running in troubles with the Gods. I played two white token decks with the white God and besides double Grasp of Darkness I had nothing to deal with it. Is there anything in G or B that can overcome the indestructibility?

I have found Nest to be better than Hapatra in most instances. Haptra dies to just about every removal played there and/or can't get through blockers so just sits there. Also can't play multiples like nest can. Things can get crazy if the game goes late and you have multiple nests out. I only run 3 Hapatra MB now and have thought of cutting more for something more aggressive.

FEstering Mummy might have to be the goto because isn't BListerpod going to fall out of standard soon?

September. I can never remember, so I bookmarked http://whatsinstandard.com/

I've be working on a BG build and here a few of my thoughts so far
    • I like Festering Mummy better than Blisterpod. Often time you can use the -1/-1 counter to kill or nerf an opponent’s creature.
    • Tested Decimator Beetle and it was just too slow, didn't do enough for the 5 cmc
    • Hapatra is good but Nest of Scarabs seems better, yeah it costs more but it dumps more tokens out and is harder to remove. Hapatra dies to just about any removal at. I run 3 Hapatra 4 Nests
    • I added in Baleful Ammit to SB for some of the quick R/G aggro out there but haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Destined // Lead as a 1 or 2 can help push through damage. I have run into situations where you have 10 tokens but they have 4/5 dudes and attacking into that is hard to make it profitable.
Altar's Reap is decent still looking for better card draw
    • Croc is a Boss. That 5 hastey damage is very nice.
Bone Splinters is good but I think I am cutting them for something that can deal w/ planeswalkers
    • Any of the Gods are a pain. I'm sure they are for everyone, but short of double grasp I don't deck anything that can deal with them.
    • I have been running Channeler and she is a nice back up to dump -1/-1 counters on but may cut them and try it with out.

I have a Bloodlust Inciter in play from from last (no summon sickness etc) I cast a Ornery Kudu (or other -1/-1 dude) and target the Inciter for the counters. Can I then in response tap the Inciter to give the Rudu hast before he dies? I would think so but not 100% sure.
    Thanks in advance

My 2 cents would have been to swap black for blue as a splash,
    Grim Strider
    Soulstinger
    Wasteland Scorpion
    Wander in Death

  • posted a message on What type of theme/setting do you wish MTG would do for a future block? ( one that doesn't already exist in the lore, I mean)
I just want a dinosaur block.

This with like Muraganda Petroglyphs & Imperiosaur
It would be nice to have no 'society'/ 'civilization' too. Have world where the most intelligent race are goblins or cavemen such. One step up from 'wild' animals. You could have planes walkers stumble across it and treat it as some kind of game preserve where they visit it but are sort of a vacation spot/down time. Or have some deranged hermit planeswalker defending it trying to protect from the other planeswalkers so they won't dispoil it of it's natural beauty.
