Why not Lizard folk lol or would Games Workshop get a little hissy?
Actually a "Road to El'Dorado" land would be cool and fun with land ramp strategies. Search for maybe 8 lands "Blank of ...El Dorado" then they merge to form the city that's an alt win con. Like the gates and Maze's End
Regarding Lizardfolk, DnD has used it for decades (might have popularized it as a villain race), and GW couldn't do squat about it. And the last time they went to bat for "Space Marines" they lost big time.
And El Dorado sounds like it'd be a fun alt win con, though I hope it wouldn't be a copy past of Dragon's maze.
This would only work if the would make detain overlays (tokens) like they did for morph
That makes sense. In an EDH game I was in, a player had a Brago-based detain deck. Problem was, we had another guy doing Grenzo (goblins everywhere) and a girl doing Trostani (I was in a pillowfort, so this game was a blast). We had to use pennies to track detain, and keep them seperate from the pennies we use for 1/1 counters. It was a real pain.
Oh look, Ajani is recruiting friends for the upcoming rescue of Elspeth. She definitely has no business being dead
Man I hope so. An Ocean's 11 block, where the GateWatch helps Elspeth out of the underworld. Once they leave Theros, it's not like the gods can follow them.
So, who else might join? Karn? Dack Fayden? Koth? Idk who else would besides elspeth when she gets out of the underworld.
I think Koth would be a good option. Maybe if/when we get Elspeth from Theros, the Gatewatch heads over to New Phyrexia and recruits both Koth and Karn and fight the Phyrexians in Mirrodin 3.0 block.
Dack would probably meet the Gatewatch while in trouble. Maybe getting hunted by Garruk or something, or stole from Nicol Bolas, and he joins after the Gatewatch helps him out. (basically, I imagine the Gatewatch recruiting people RPG style. It's basically how they met - you all meet at an Inn, an Inn that's being attacked by Eldrazi).
Agreed, Noose Constrictor is fine on its own, but in a block with no Green Madness support, it has no real support or home, in standard or modern. Plus, it's uncertain when we'll return to use the madness mechanic again, so it looks like it'll be consigned to the kitchen table for a while.
But even wizards should print "better" uncommons, like Aerial Responder
No just no
How about Aether Hub, Harnessed Lightning, as nods to the theme we are in and get play in standard once they get around to Kaladesh cards? Herdron Archive type cards that are nice for commander would be welcome as well. And if they had dome some of the werewolves at least we would have had cool alt art flip foils.
But not getting reflector mage or duskwatch recruiter is a huge bummer.
On that we can agree. I'd prefer that they wait to see what's a popular uncommon before making an FNM promo - plus with standard rotation being extended, we have the time to wait.
I hope we get more pirates. Maybe a parrot/bird token generator.

In standard we have even more 'walker decks to look forward to, which should be fun.

I'm sorry, I'm totally wrong.

Feel like it's been years since the promo was a Rare.
