Do you have a link to your cube? I feel like there are probably other things I would cut first? I would probably cut firebolt. It goes in more decks, but fireblast it such a powerhouse in the right deck.
Second question: How important is the addition of Ravages of War when Armageddon is already in? If Ravages wasn't so expensive, I would've just added it, but like that I'm unsure. Maybe I'll buy a different artwork of Armageddon to mimick Ravages.
Can't comment about alternatives to moat for say, but I run 2 different versions of Armegeddon. I would love to run ravages of war, but until it's reprinted It isn't worth it to me.
I am not trying to hype this card more that it deserves, and I don't think this card is for regular powered cubes but I think it might be worthy of at least a thread for those who like to run a small morph theme. This card has a lot of flexibility built into it and has enough interesting ways to use it, that it may be worth considering based on the flexibility of the card. just off the top of my head...
It can act as an onboard (albeit slightly hidden) combat trick,
It can be a little difficult to play around since it does not require mana to unmorphed.
It has deck flexibility since it does not require black mana to cast / activate.
It can be used as a form of protection against a decent amount of removal/board wipes.
It can act as a 1-time sac outlet.
It can be quite powerful on any of creatures with trample while also adding protection to that creature.
It also goes well with any of the token makers that benefit from combat such as goblin rabblemaster. Play rabble turn 3, this turn 4, swing with rubble master and sac the token if needed to keep him alive.
Plays well with Dragonlord Atarka...
Seems like an interesting creature. If I am reading it correctly, it looks like he should trigger off his own fight trigger, and will most likely be able to take out several of an opponents creatures, and then for his last trigger, you can target him to their biggest creature. Seems really strong with recurring nightmare since you can get him to the graveyard if your opponent has no response, and still has creatures you need to deal with. Not sure if he is the best big guy out there, but I think he will be fun to mess around with at least a few times.
I still run it. its definatly a build around and so id it dosnt show up iluntil pack 3 it often sits in a sideboard, but its a fun card to have around.
Spicy definatly. It's a similar design space to seasoned pyromancer. I like the pyromancer more myself simply because of the guaranteed value, but i can see some people wanting to get away from all the token makers and this could be an interesting choice.
I would cut workshop over probe though. Even if you support the artifact deck, it's a little too niche. Gitaxian probe can play in any deck and I would personally prefer the versatility. There are only so many spots for artifact support cards and workshop is pretty low on that list.
