Strange that they wait until RTR has just 6 months left in standard before releasing this. By then Ravnica block will feel like very old news.
Do they always do Duel Decks this way?
the fact that we have not ONE, but TWO vanilla black creatures that are zombies (not unusual) but also Minotaurs,
I think the point of the two zombie minotaurs is that the big one is exactly two of the little ones, in power/toughness, mana cost, and art, and then a joke flavor text with the quouted necromancer praising one but dissing the other.
They could do the same thing with human zombies, or some other tribe, but it wouldn't be so easy to recognize and thus the point is lost.
(I'm not saying this makes it any less likely for there to be minotaurs in Theros)
At Pro Tour San Diego, judges received only 1 newly released card (Natural Order), when 2 new cards is the norm. Andy Hekct (wotc judge manager) said he'd fix this issue via mail.
So either judges have begun receiving these in the mail (I haven't yet) or this was given out at GP Madrid. In either case, a whole lot more of them will be on ebay soon.
It certainly implies an evolution of those characters.
Unfortunately, the details of the deck won't really give much information about the new 'walker cards themselves. Nissa's deck is B/G, so we might not even learn what colors the new cards will be.
It must be fetches. Can anyone even name another cycle that's been begged for?
They would play so very nicely with Landfall and the likes.
I do think it's likely that we'll see both enemy fetches and allied-color painlands in the spirit of Horizon Canopy. Both would fit a land themed block quite nicely.
Seems more likely that Mind Shatter is back, given the context he sited.
Stupor was decent in Time Spiral standard, and Twist is sooo much better. Mind Shatter got plenty of sideboard action itself, when the meta was right.
Why the **** would I play Magic online and pay the same $3.99 for a pack of virtual cards instead of buying physical cards?
Because they are giving you a free draft?
I haven't touched modo in years, but I really don't see how anyone can complain about this.
It costs them almost nothing to provide us with this service, so hopefully they can do this sort of thing more often. Maybe we will get a free draft a few times a year?
Clearly the Firewild Borderpost is the red and green artifact he refers to. It seems that Reborn brings us back to traditional two-color gold cards only, since the unification of the world has done away with the notion of "Shards".
The names of the borderposts (Mistvein, Fieldmist, Wildfield, Firewild, Veinfire) are the world's most obvious cycle of color pairings. The art makes it a no-brainer that these artifacts will produce mana, since they visually sit at the edge of two different land types.
So did you receive it with the letter about "thanks for a great 2008" at worlds? In a large stiff envelope? That's how the Dark Rituals were sent.
You should certainly sell asap. These kinda things always start out really expensive and then drop off rapidly once they enter the market en masse. If indeed you have the ONLY one, it could be worth hundreds.
On the Magic Cruise in Feb I was talking about FTV Dragons with the R&D members, and they joked that next up was "From the Vault: Vaults!"
"Time Vault, Mana Vault, Phyrexian Vault, um... Voltaic Key..."
I protested that there aren't 15 vaults in magic, to which one of them said "Ah but we always include a spoiler card from the next set."
To which I said "Always?". I pressed him a little bit and he said "Fine, yes, the next From The Vault set will contain a spoiler card."
So that's my small contribution to this rumor, even though it doesn't make sense given the theme of "formerly banned/restricted cards"
Maybe the real info here is that wotc has a whole series of From the Vaults planned out. Given the recent success of Jace v Chandra and etc, it seems likely.
"It will be the first set in the history of Magic: The Gathering to be 100% multicolored."
That is a direct quote from the WotC document. So it seems like lands are clearly out, baring some sort of colored land trick. (Which would be cool, because how do you use a land that is colored? it's so open ended.)
@"what about colorless artifacts (or lands)?":
Unlikely - this would undermine the premise of the set. ...
There is a significant difference in marketing "almost all multicolor" over a real "all multicolor".
I think this is a big chance for them to print colored Lands.
This could reinforce the "color matters" themes.
Clearly they regret artifact lands, and explained why they couldn't make Tribal lands.
But maybe, just maybe, they could print something like this:
Heart of Alara
Legendary Land
Comes into play tapped.
Heart of Alara is all colors. (even when it's not in play)
T: Add one mana of any color.
It seems very unlikely. But if there was ever to be a colored land, the "all multicolor" set in a block with a "color-matters" theme might just be the place for it.

OMG it's been like way more than 24 hours! How could anybody fail to post a scan to mtgsalvation after such a long time?
It's not like Sculler is hard to believe, so let's give the guy a few days before starting the accusations.

Hmm, last time I checked, it was quite a bit easier for judges to get physical packs (as comp) than online packs (at retail).

And yes, awesome that we can finally "cast" spells again!
