Unsurprisingly, we've veered well off-course from any amount of constructive posting, so I will go ahead and shutter this.

What a surprise. The thread devolved just like previous ones.

If all you folks are going to do is bicker over the lines and take potshots at each other, we're already done, then. It is good to know that they're planning deadlines, but the rest of the thread is pretty much open season for you all to grab pitchforks and point them at each other.

    We're through here.

How would you prereigister for a GP in another country?

You should check with the Tournament/Event Organizer. They will usually have their own webpage dedicated to the information about the Grand Prix they are running, and it usually details the means with which you can preregister (usually online with credit card or other internet means).

Similarly, the DailyMTG section also has an Event Coverage section with the Grand Prix information pages, but this has not been updated for 2014. You can often still find the appropriate Grand Prix page with a bit of Google. (For example, searching "GP Prague 2014" off of DailyMTG will turn up this page for Event Information for Grand Prix Prague this upcoming weekend.)

I just logged in (slogged into work despite the snowstorm). I have shuttered the antagonizing thread, as it's rather silly (you win the game by reducing an opponent's life total to 0, so 20 damage is perfectly sensible).

As for the Reported Posts in your own thread, while you may find that the initial responses slighted you, I perceive them as contrary viewpoints that are presented in a civilized and detailed manner, as opposed to just slamming you and saying "hurrdurr no fun allowed ur silly." I did not see anything at the start of your thread that I found crossing lines, but I will quickly review that thread again.

EDIT: Just got through the thread. The closest thing to antagonism in your thread is people citing "elitism" or custom rules; beyond that, the majority of the thread is well-composed and quite directed about the argument at hand. I'd go so far as to say that the thread itself is doing quite a good job at engendering a good back-and-forth. Nothing directly attacks other posters, and the closest thing to conflict is the responses that others have to each other regarding the "full-on kill in one shot" versus the "99% likely to win the game (Dragonstorm example, et al.)"

I agree that the other thread was vastly unnecessary and served to do nothing but antagonize you and gather up posters to stir a pot, which is why it was closed when I got to it. Do you still wish for your original thread to be closed?

  • posted a message on What is the appeal for 20 damage?
Notwithstanding the amount of antagonism that's flowing in this thread, this is hardly a productive discussion point (one of the ways to win the game is to bring your opponent to 0 life), and what little discussion that is on-target is quickly being put to the wayside.

We're getting well off-topic here. Debate is a much better place for arguing ethics and the like, so if you want to take your argument regarding what is right or wrong about "alters," feel free to move it along.

I'm going to close this thread.
