How will they do a Godzilla set when the average creature should start around 10/10 at minimum?

The monsters probably start small and get bigger with this “build your own monster” mechanic.

Or they start out incapable of attacking or blocking (and likely being very difficult to remove from play) until certain conditions exist, or certain cards are played on them. So similar to Theros gods, but possibly without the animation condition being on the card itself?

Think of a massive potential-threat sitting on the board waiting for the right time to become an actual threat. Everyone sees it on the horizon coming, knows it's extremely difficult if not impossible to remove from play, and your opponents are hoping to defeat you before it arrives, or be able to slow it down (see: remove the things that currently allow it to attack/block) long enough to win.

This would even fit with the kaiju theme. How much of a kaiju film is watching the monster(s) wreck other things far away, or be on the move, vs the time spent with the monster(s) actually in the thick, fighting and destroying what's right around the audience's perspective?

Hell. Perhaps they even start off only able to affect other behemoths? Maybe they get to attack one another directly normally to accomplish some effect, but not players or planeswalkers, until cards allow them to attack the latter. This would allow them to be quite cheap with massive bodies, since behemoths are starting off only interacting with one another.

The looming distant threat slowly revealing what it's capable of, then finally having something set it off in a dangerous way, feels like something that's never been done (another thing MaRo said, this is a mechanic "they've never done before"), and also feels very kaiju to me.

I'm getting an Augment vibe. Has there ever been an ability from an un-set make it to a standard set?

I'm looking forward to Theros, can't wait to see what they came up withfor a greek underworld. What's going to be white aligned here?

Zendikar is amazing and seeing the work that Nissa and possibly Nahiri have been doing to restore it would be cool. You think there will be a few straggling eldrazi? I wouldn't seeing a few, like 5-6.

Confirmed- Eldraine is swords and sorcery Arthurian and Grimm fairy tales themed.

I see a rather murderous Goldilocks in there. Also... Kasmina is/was a knight?

The known Planeswalker is Rowan (and presumably Will) Kenrith, from Battlebond.

Compare this piece of Eldraine art:

To her existing card art (pay particular attention to her sword):

That art has to be from Magali Villeneuve. I wish she would do more.

Judging by the signature and website link at the bottom, I doubt it is.

The new art, not the battlebond one

I wouldn't mind a RW Samurai legend in an Equipment matters deck. Of course, I'd also like a UB Ninja and RW Samurai Partner duo.

The flavor disconnect on that would annoy me to no end. The creation of the Ninja clans was a direct reaction by the populace to oppression from the Nobles/Samurai.

I wouldn't mind either Samurai and/or Ninja's, but not in the same deck. And I would not mind either expanding into a third color.

Agreed. I think of you're going to join 2 tribes i would go with samurai // monk and ninja // rogue and make them jeskai and sultai i guess with their knowledge of plant based poisons and smoke bombs can explain the G.

Doesn't Chandra look really young, like the flip walkers we got in another core set?

How old is Chandra suppose to be?

I don't know much about how old the Gatewatchers are. We got in my book overall Kids, Teens, Young Adults, Middle Age, and Ancients.

She's supposed to be late teens/early 20's if I recall correctly. She is the youngest member of the Gatewatch.

I think i read in one of the articles that she's 23 or 24

Mirage fetches? The 5 existing ones fit, make 233 and 234 lands and new 5 will also fit. Seems unlikely though.

Not a very constructed card however in a format full of mana rocks and a recent influx of planeswalkers

This is busted in edh. Very remincent of mental mistep in constructed, where it is also the the answer to itself. I foree pretty much every deck that cares about planeswalkers and artifacts rocking this or rock getting shut out by it.

Much like numot, you do not have to hit the player you want to affect. Swing at someone who can take a hit, and the hit the PW or Artifact of someone else. (That is what I did with numot, needed to deal with some lands, fine, Let numot hit you, take 6, and then i get to destroy another player's lands.

It's not a may ability, so if you're the only one with a pw or artifact (unlikely) you have to destroy your own stuff?
