There's a lot of graveyard hate roaming around atm. So I would recommend elves even thought Im convinced that company is the better deck. Grafdiggers cage is amazing right now it shuts down jeskai nahiri, dredge also relic is really good atm.

Hey guys I've been playing Abzan Company for about 4 months now and I want to build a new modern deck. Company performed very well but then it got hated out too easily and i got a little tired of it. So I would like a deck that is very resilient and can continue to put up results. And doesn't get hated out after a while.

Cards you already own: 4 Nobles,3 path, 1 godless shrine, 2 overgrown tomb, 2 temple garden, 4 windswept heath, 3 wooded foothills, 2 flooded strand, 1 clique 2 thoughtseize, 3 mires, 4 bolts. and many other good cards and playables.

Colors you like to play. Any color really. I just don't like red agressive decks. I like control colors, Black,Blue, white, green, red in that order
But I don't mind as long as I like the deck :p

Style you like to play (control, combo, aggro, midrange, tempo, ramp, rogue) Midrange,Control,Tempo, Combo in that order

Level you want to play at, or aim to build up to (causal, fmn, ptq)Fnm,gpt, pptq maybe a local scg/gp event someday.

Budget: I have 800 dollars cash and about 500-900 dollar trade power. But my lgs is fairly small so I have to travel a little in order to trade for certain cards that people at my lgs don't own.

Meta: Grixis Delver, Gr tron, soul sisters, elves, ad nausem, living end, 5 color bring to light, 3 burn decks. And Eldrazi and taxes then some random decks that never make top 4

Hello all, seeking some advice on what to pick up for my first Modern deck. I am thinking of buying in to one of these decks: Affinity, Merfolk, Burn or Abzan Company.

Here's some of my thinking on each of these decks, and would appreciate any corrections or advice on any of what I've said.

Affinity - Looks to be a highly competitive deck and I enjoy the idea of it taking a long time to master it. I enjoy playing with lots of synergistic cards. However, am concerned that it will often have a big target on its head and will be at the receiving end of a lot of hate. Am also worried that there could be potential bans in the future? I know this was being discussed earlier in the year.

Merfolk - This deck appeals to me on a more emotional level. I enjoy the look of the play style and how the deck runs together. Am worried about having a couple of really bad matchups with this deck though, as Affinity and Infect make up a large portion of my meta.

Burn - Looks like an easier way to jump in to the format, although am concerned that the deck will become boring after becoming familiar with it and it's matchups.

Abzan Company - Obviously on the more expensive side but plays some of my favourite colours and types of spells. Not really familiar with playing combo but would be an exciting new challenge and feels like the sort of deck that would be interesting to play for a long time.

I am definitely a fan of proactive play styles, but would like a deck that will last a good long while and be fun to play for years to come. The transferability of cards is somewhat of a concern, as having the options to port cards in to other decks/formats would be good, but not vital.

I play abzan company answer this question do you like puzzles? Do you have a good understanding of modern? Do you want a decks that has lot of decisions and want to be able to grind? Abzan company is really cool because its Plan a is the infinite combos plan b is just as good because your board will most likely be flooded with dorky creatures so you can just activate Gavony Township once or twice and just win. If you want I can pm you my current list and pm you the budget list I used however the budget list is very good and doesn't lack very much.

I think you could try something like Mardu control/midrange or Grixis control. It seems that you like interaction and both decks are interactive with control/midrange style of play. I don't know if you want deck now or are willing to spend longer time on building it and buy more pieces when you get more money-if that's the case I would recommend you Jund which is the best deck of that kind unless you want to go for even more reactive plan and might want to try Jeskai Nahiri control.

Cards you already own: Abzan Company and some affinity pieces
Colors you like to play. Any mainly black white green and blue
Style you like to play: Midrange-Control
Level you want to play at, or aim to build up to: Ptq-gp
Budget: An initial budget of $350 will go up overtime
I currently have Abzan Company built I just want to build another competitive deck.
What deck so you recommend and also what cards should I buy first for a deck?
