I feel like you can do anything with this deck. Anything at all. The only limit is yourself.

Hello, and welcome to Zombo Combo.
    THIS IS Zombo Combo.
    WELCOME . . . and hello.

As for the deck idea, I really think it needs to see something printed along the lines of Buried Alive in which it can basically dump the cards you need the turn before playing Rooftop Storm. If you're looking for cards to stall and survive, if you can squeeze white in there I think you'd have a better chance of stalling during the early game with things like Doomed Traveller, Timely Reinforcements, and Day of Judgment.

Yes, there is a lot of mechanic-bleeding in this set. I attribute it to the top-down nature of most of the designs.

For example, Red doesn't typically get Moat, but it does on Form of the Dragon, because that's the mechanic they needed to convey the feeling of "You're a dragon now!"

I think this post is getting overlooked, as it explains many of the issues people are having with color-bleed in this set.

Blue zombies? Ignoring cards like Drowned, what makes the zombies in this set blue rather than black is the way in which they are made. The blue zombies are being made by mad scientists studying the human body, rather than by dark forces demanding that they rise from their grave once more. Think Frankenstein's monster compared to Evil Ash (yes I realize Frankenstein's monster is black, but it would be blue if it were printed in this set).

Besides, if anyone would be allowed to mess around with color identity I would think that it would be Richard Garfield.

I was the opposite on my ps3 FO3 was fine, and NV was gitchy as all hell. I got the MGS 80GB ps3. I think we were both lucky with the fallouts.
I agree butchering a guide, and 2 games is not worth it.

I'm not sure either. I have an 80 GB fat. Everyone I know who got NV PS3 had lots of crashing issues. Mine got mostly cleared up with the first patch, but before that, it would literally crash every hour.

I guess that's what happens when you have 100 different hardware configurations for a console system Grin

I wanted to give an update on my experiences with the 5th Anniversary edition of Oblivion. Amazon had a used one in its warehouse deals section for $21.99. It was opened, but was in great shape and had everything included. I took the game disc, rebate, and the manual to Best Buy and traded it in for $19.60 (after a 40% bonus for preordering Skyrim with them). So I paid $2.39 for the Steelbook, the plastic slip case, the map, and the Making Of Oblivion blu-ray.

My old White Label discs love their new home Grin

Keep in mind that I'm not trying to convince anyone to go out and buy a 3DS. I just think that it's very easy for people to blindly wave their hand at it and say "It has no games." (Belgareth, you're not in here screaming and hollering and flailing your arms about it, so my points don't really apply to you directly anyway)

My point was that the DS (which was such a success for Nintendo that it was known for a long time as a machine that printed money) is held in such high regard as a handheld, and is usually the first thing people point to when saying that there's no quality games for the 3DS. Well, I've attached that list of games I mentioned before from the first year of the DS, so that it'll be easier to see what I was talking about.

When I looked at it, I was surprised at what I found. As I mentioned, I only own 11 of those 142 games. It made me question the perceived "high quality" of DS titles available during the first year of production. My list only represents 7% of the games released, and although there are some higher profile games that I don't own, you could also easily drop probably 4-5 games off of my earlier list for being lower quality games as well.

That being said, the 3DS has still obviously had a pretty poor launch. When the president of a company comes out and apologizes to you for it, that's a pretty good inidicator that they made some mistakes. I just think that if we actually looked into it further, we'd probably find that a number of consoles were not as great at launch as we'd like to remember them. It's just that we're more aware of it now because, after all, we're all 6 years older than we were when the DS was new. (We're also 20 years older than we were when the SNES was new, but I'd like to not think about that)

Here's Something else that I think is interesting. I compared the list of worldwide releases for the DS in the first year after its initial release (2004-2005) to the games that have been announced for the 3DS. The DS had 142 games released during that window, which is exactly 2 more than the number of games currently announced for the 3DS. Obviously games could get pushed back to 2012 (9 already have been, and Smash Bros almost assuredly will be as well) but the numbers aren't really that much different between the two systems. Especially since I didn't count Mega Man legends 3 or any of the other games that have already been cancelled.

I also took a closer look at those DS games and found that out of those 142 titles, I own 11.

    Advance Wars
    Brain Age
    Castlevania: DS
    Feel the Magic XY/XX
    Mario Kart DS
    Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!
    Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney
    Puyo Pop Fever
    The Rub Rabbits
    Trace Memory
    Trauma Center: Under the Knife
I think many people would be surprised if they took a look at the list of those first year DS games on Wikipedia and compared it to their collection.

The only thing that made me sad about buying the system now, was that I wouldn't be able to get the Flare Red one (since it hasn't been released stateside yet). I've followed a lot of discucssions about the 3DS and have read a lot of anger over the small selection of games. It got me thinking about it, and this is as good a place as any to bring this up.

Just how many games does a person need in order to be satisfied with a video game system?

I thought back to being a kid and absolutely loving my SNES. 16Bits? That's twice the number on my NES, how amazing is this thing? I'd play it constantly, and was genuinely happy that I owned one. When I looked back over my collection though, I realized that I only owned maybe 6-7 SNES games as a kid. I certainly played more games than that (Captain Video, how I miss your sweet innocence), and have since bought several more games as an adult, but at the time I only owned 6 games.

I already own 3 for the 3DS and will be adding Cave Story, SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked, and Starfox before Christmas.

It was buggier... I was mad at FO3 for making my PS3 crash several times (first time it ever happened), NV was crashing it every hour untill it got patched. Have only had one since, though.

I did though prefer NV much more. At first I felt like the map was smaller and more limited, but the more I played, the more I got into it and the less I felt like playing 3 again.

I keep hearing this over and over again, and I never understand it. New Vegas has always been far more stable for me than Fallout 3 ever was; from launch all the way through the DLC content for each game. I always thought that it was an X-box specific issue with NV and that their version was finally "as bad" as the PS3's (FO3 was far worse on PS3 than on Xbx) but now that I see this I'm not sure what to think.

Maybe it's the hardware on the 60GB PS3, or maybe I'm just lucky.

    Also:

Since no one else has mentioned it, I'd like to say that it's a shame that the collector's edition re-release for Oblivion was such a bust. A $10 rebate for buying Skyrim AND the Strategy Guide is absolutely NOT "$10 off the purchase of Skyrim." Furthermore, the requirement that you remove the UPC from Skyrim, The Strategy Guide, AND the collector's edition (!) of Oblivion seems ridiculous to me. I'm not butchering a collector's edition, book, and a brand new game just to save $10.

Every time they announce a new TES, I'm hoping for a new Daggerfall or Morrowind, instead all we got are Fallout 3 rip-offs.

And by every time, you mean once, right? Because there has only been one Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind. And since Skyrim hasn't even come out yet, you seem to be judging a book by its cover in the extreme.

Not to mention that there have been zero new Elder Scrolls games releasesd since Fallout 3.

I noticed that you said your LGS was planning on running some pauper tournaments. Although Mtgo is a great resource, you should also keep in mind that you're going to run into a number of powerhouse cards you're not going to have available for use in pauper online; namely things like Hymn to Tourach, High Tide, and Sinkhole.

    Personally I think that
the development around Kunugi was more well done, and that this part was just slightly gimmicky, predictable, and generic (though still entertaining)
Pretty sure my favorite mini story arc would be in Darker than Black but I don't know which one.

Fair enough. I thought the side story was cute enough to be a good diversion. And although, like you said, you could tell right away how the story was going to end,
the fact that her physical body was being destroyed so (relatively) graphically during the fight made that sequence evocative enough for me to really enjoy the arc. It also made me see each of the dolems much differently than I did prior to those episodes.
Admittedly, it's been 8 years since I first watched the series (my God, has it really been that long? :-/) so I'm sure that my expectations for a show have changed since then.

With the way that things have been going so far, I'm afraid to even mention this. However, it looks like the PSN store is scheduled to come back online next Tuesday. More importantly though, they announced that they will be updating the store twice per week (Tues/Fri) for the next two weeks in order to make up for the release dates that were missed due to the outage.

To clarify, the problem was that someone could go to Sony's website and change an account's password from there simply by providing the account holder's date of birth and email address. If you receive an unexpected email stating that your password has been changed, you should contact Sony as quickly as possible.

Wow, I was way off base in regards to the list of games they ended up offering. Wink

I was not expecting digital copies of full retail release games, even if they are Greatest Hits titles now. The only one off the PS3 list I own is LBP, so I'm not entirely sure which games I want to get. I've heard good things about most of them.

Something else that I didn't think about at all prior to this announcement is that this applies to PSP owners too. Picking games from that list is going to be even harder for me, because I already own LBP (yes you guys get it, I own LBP ;)) and Modnation Racers on the PS3 but not on the PSP.

I'm guessing that the list of games will probably be the same one that they had for their "Vote for PSN Game of the year" promotion. I remember Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim, but I don't remember what the others were.

Then again, the $15 "loss" on Castle Crashers might be too high.

So far so good for me. Was able chat with some friends and also get messenges. I hope the 5 game choices are good. If one is a fighting game that be my route seeing a fighting game nut. Grin

Also this 30 day free PSN+, I don't know what that do for me. I already can get on free so what the deal with it?

This advice goes to anyone that hasn't checked out the details of PSN+ before. Don't get sucked in by whatever free games they are currently offering, as you will not be able to keep them after your 30 free days are up. You can only play the free games as long as you're a PSN+ subscriber.

However this doesn't apply to any of the items that are available to PSN+ users that are discounted, but not free (ie $2.99 instead of $4.99). Any discounted game/item will still be available to you after your subscription expires.

I know that I'll be taking advantage of that month to buy out their Japanese PS1 game section, and then let the subscription expire. Grin
