Reese sees the crowds of people. One person has already signed up and the professors assistants are looking around for one more participant. Most of the people in the crowd already have a pokedex.

OOC: Immersa and Psi: We can have two battles at once if you both sign up.

OOC: Pet snake: The Treecko is now completely under your control. That is for you to decide.

"Your welcome. Please do come back and visit before you leave the boat. Good luck!"
    ------
Upon hearing Ryan step forward, members of the crowd scream with excitement for another match.

OOC: I'll leave it open for another short while until I put you against an NPC.

The professor recalls the Treecko and hands the pokeball to Reese. "Congratulations." He said. "I don't know what you want to do now. We will be landing in Risin soon so once we get there I suggest you start catching other pokemon and begin your very own adventure. Follow your passion. As for right now, well, if you want a Pokedex to record all your process, you can get one by participating in an exhibition match with one of my aides on the upper deck, and there is going to be a tournament on the ship right before we land."
    ------
The two trainers shake hands, as the match is over. The recall both their pokemon and hand the two pokeballs over to a man in a white lab coat. "Good job. Here, the Professor wants you to take one of these" He hands them both pokedexes. "Fill these with information about all the Pokemon you can find out there. That info will automatically be sent back to us for research, but as long as you are using this pokedex, you will have access to our whole database of knowledge." He then turned out towards the audience. "So who would like to participate in the next exhibition match?"

"Haha. Hello Reese. If you are looking for a pokemon you have come to the right place. I brought plenty along for me to give out to aspiring young trainers like yourself. Here you can choose from one of these three"

Male Marill with Tackle, Defense Curl, and Aqua Jet
Female Treecko with Pound, Leer, and Double Kick
Male Driftloon with Constrict, Minimize, and Disable
    ------
The Meditie was able to dodge the attack, but Samuel withdrew the pokemon before the Bulbasaur even made it to the Meditite. "That was my most powerful attack! If you can survive that, your certainly strong enough. Your willpower will take you far" The boy said. "Across the hall from the pokemon center is an auditorium. Professor Birch is down there. You can get a pokedex by talking to him and being in an exhibition battle up here. You can see some people in an exhibition match over there if you want to watch that one first. I dont know why professors just give them out, but I guess they need the help filling them out."
    ------
Meanwhile, Grimer was extremely unefective at the battle of speed. Buizel had already hit it once, and Buizel quickly shot a Water Gun at the Grimer contuing to weaken the pokemon. It returned fire with a shot of Acid, but Buizel easily dodged. The Buizel's trainer smirked, and the Buizel charged the Grimer. In one last attempt to defend itself, the Grimer surrounded itself with a Poisonous Gas in an attempt to repel the Buizel. The Gas did cripple the Buizel, but not quickly enough as it was able to follow through with its attack. Grimer fainted.

OOC: I am trying my best to update at least once a day. Sorry there was no update yesterday.
    ------
The Meditite braced himeself slightly as the attack hit but it still took the full force of the attack. Since it knew the attack was coming, it was able to get up, but it was clearly running out of energy very quickly, and it was breathing heavily. Suddenly though, it took off towards Bulbasaur, charging with a newfound speed. It 's energy was almost visible. It had been storing this energy and absorbing it from Bulbasaur's blows. When it finally reached Bulbasaur, it unleashed all of this energy with one powerful strike.

OOC: It has been "storing energy" for the last 2 turns, and now it is releasing energy, or it is using/used Bide
    ------
The auditorium was rather quiet and empty. At the time that you come in, the only other person in the room is the professor who is on the stage mixing a few chemicals. As you enter, he looks up and invites you to come up and join him.
    ------
Ryan remembers seeing a sign up sheet for the tournament when he entered the boat
    ------
Grimer shoots out a small ball off Acid at the Murkrow. Murkrow avoids the Acid by swooping down, but Grimer quickly moves over to the Murkrow. Murkrow is obviously tired out, and Grimer is easily able to hit it with a Pound attack and finish it off. The trainer withdraws the Murkrow and sends out his last pokemon, a Buizel. Although it is confined to the ground, the Buizel is much faster than the Murkrow was. It immediatly charges the Grimer, scratches it, and then retreats before the Grimer can retaliate.

The vine hit the Meditite with full force. Meditite flinched and fell back, but managed to get back up. It sat back in it's previous position and continued not to act.
    ------
"It is right down the hall. Let me show you. She walks you to the door and points across the hall. Just take a left there and it will be the first building on your left. It should be marked well."

Samuel only smiled. The focusing Meditite was ready and could easily sense the Bulbasaur approaching him. It broke its stance and quickly darted out of the way of the attack. Once it was safe again, it sat down again. This time it did not meditate, it simply closed it's eyes and waited.
    ------
Seeing an opening, the Murkrow wasted no time. It charged in towards the Grimer with a Peck attack, and the Grimer could not keep it away like the Cyndaquil could. "Defend yourself!" the trainer exclaimed, and Grimer's oozing body quickly became stiff. The Peck hit with full force, but cause minimum damage. "Now use Poison Gas" the trainer exclaimed. While the Murkrow was recovering, Grimer surrounded itself in a Poisonous gas, which was clearly affecting the Murkrow. Regardless, the Murkrow managed to fly away and blow away the rest of the gas. "You just won't give up, will you?"
    ------
"Professor Birch? Well, I'm not sure where he is right now. He has been using the auditorium down the hall to set up as a station to teach new trainers, but he spends some time monitoring his practice battles with new trainers on the upper deck. But, I'm sure he'll help you out with a first pokemon. What a big day!"
    -------
"Hmph, I'm sure we'll be seeing each other again soon. You know, if you have a Pokemon, I suggest you try to enter that tournament the have on the boat. I signed up with the receptionist. It's something to do before we land" He said. Then he shook your hand, and walked away slowly.

"Murkrow. Hit is now!" the trainer yelled. Upon hearing this, the Cyndaquil shot another large ray of embers at the bird. The Murkrow seemed to dodge, but as the smoked settled, everyone could see it falling from the sky. Cyndaquil moved towards it. Right before Murkrow hit the ground, its trainer exclaimed "Ok Murkrow. Go!" It opened it's eyes and smacked the unsuspecting Cyndaquil from close up (This is an unlearned Faint Attack, for all curious). The Cyndaquil fell back from the blow and fainted. The crowd went wild. "We're not done yet" the Cyndaquil's trainer said, overpowerring the crowd. He brought out another pokeball from which a Grimer emerged. Murkrow flew back into the air staring down at the Grimer.
    ----
Reese enters the Pokemon Center. It is quite calm for a Pokemon Center, but there are a lot of trainers there waiting for their pokemon to be healed. A nurse walks up to you. "Can I help you? Do you need us to look at your Pokemon?"
    ----
OOC: You can have some basic knowledge about how to heal Pokemon, and maybe some starting equipment, but you can't have infinite Potions.

"Meditie, I choose you" He exclaimes. He looks down at his pokemon, you simply sits there and begins to meditate.
    ----
"They call me Lisix. And you are?"

    FAQ: How does battling work?

A Pokemon is something that you control. In this game, you are practically controlling two characters at once. Battles are done in free-form, which pretty much means there are no numbers involved. You will get a feel for it pretty quickly. You can do what ever feels right to you and what you want to do. If you are a starting Treecko with Pound and Leer, your most powerful attacks, and the ones you are most used to doing are Pound and Leer. However, you are not limited to that. You can do whatever you want. The Treecko could run, jump, hide, dodge, duck,....whatever you can think of. Also, since battles can get boring with only one move, you can use what are called "Unlearned moves." You may use any move that you think your pokemon could use (and please be reasonable). However, this move would be much weaker since it has not been refined, and it might fail or the user might stumble. Also, when you use an attack, you do not deicde if it hits or misses. The one being attacked has to decide this. This is a lot of responsibility, because you have to decide your own fate. You can't win them all, though. Be reasonable, or else a WPL will have to act.

Just have fun with it. And remember, the more descriptive you are, the better.

OOC: No one has a pokedex yet.

Anyone who moves over towards the sound of the commotion can see two trainers standing at either end. In the center of the arena there is a Cyndaquil. The Cyndaquil appears to be in perfect health, but it's trainer looks rather frantic. The Cyndaquil is darting its head around the arena, glaring at the Murkrow circling overhead. Suddenly, the Murkrow moves in towards the Cyndaquil, but it's trainer suddenly freaks out and orders Cyndaqiul to shoot out a small blast of fire. The Murkrow quickly dodges and continues to fly above the Cyndaquil, causing somewhat of a standstill. Many novice trainers are watching and they are very excited as to what will happen.

The Seel is hit by the ray attack, but it recovers qiuckly, hops out of the water, and Headbutt(ed?) the Staryu. The Staryu fell down into the water. It emerged quickly and shot out a quick Water Gun at the Seel. The Water Gun struck the Seel with great strength, which incapacitated it for a moment. The trainer took the oportunity to throw down a Pokeball. Shortly after, the Seel watch captured by the light of the pokeball, and the pokeball returned to it's trainers hand. He also withdrew the Staryu.

Samuel responded, "Well, I......How about if you can beat me in a Pokemon battle, I'll tell you."

OOC: Here, I am going to try to encourage a lot of Player interaction. All I will do on the boat is control a few NPCs (like the two from my last post) and any other important NPCs: Nurse Joy, Professor Birch, etc.

OOC: Color coded dialouge is not nessecary, it just helps you stand out a bit.

@ pet snake: After searching for a few moments, it becomes clear that the boat is too large to just go searching blindly for the Professor. However, you see many large concentrated areas of people. There is a pokemon center that is centric (pun not intended) on the boat where a lot of people congregate, there is a dining hall, and one of the battle arenas on the top deck is quite crowded with what seems to be an intense battle. There is also the receptionist where you saw the sign about the Professor being on the boat who checked you in originally.

@ Cyouni: The man only smirked, but whether or not it was towards you or not was amiguous. He stared down at one of the Seels for a moment of two, when suddenly his eyes lit up. He reached down onto his belt, grabbed a pokeball and threw it into the water. "Staryu, use Swift" he exclaimed. The star shaped pokemon quickly emerged and spun down, hovering above the water and began to shoot a ray of stars at the Seel.

"Huh, me? I'm Samuel." the boys responded. He finally looked up from his pokedex excited to see new faces. As he spun around, he pointed the pokedex at all the different pokemon he could see. "This thing is so cool! I just got ita minute ago, and I'm going to fill up the whole thing"

Everyone can hear screaming and hollering in the distance. Indeed, there seems to be quite an xciting match over on the other side of the upper deck.

Honestly, I think if we were to butt heads, explain our mutual reasoning, and compromise, we would accomplish something. When I led MTG:RPG with Ti'rin (by the way, he was such a hard-ass about everything that I had to do the same to keep up, which is why I still act that way), we didn't agree on anything. So we would argue and find a compromise. The game was great during that time and it still is to this day. Why are you so sure the game will stall if we try to compromise?

Daftmouse (and Froxy-if you still care): I am still open to ideas. I have not blocked myself off. I am asking for reasons/explanations. If you guys have such a good system together that you worked out, let me hear what you want and let me hear WHY. I was never trying to prevent your ideas, only to understand them, and I still don't.

Just because it isn't your vision doesn't mean you wont enjoy it. For example, when I made that first map, I thought it was my vision and I would never want anything else. But then, I made the second map with a lot of your ideas, and it quickly became my vision of perfection. All I am saying is that sometimes, you end up being happier with a compromise than you think you will be.

Don't quit. I honestly don't see any reason for you to do so. If you must, I'm sorry that you feel the way you do. You and your ideas had a lot of potential, and I am sorry that you are just giving up on them like this.

OOC: You can get your Pokedex from either the professor or from a leader of your team. The Professor will not know you are a gangster, so feel free to talk to him.

A man walks up to Ryan and leans over the rail right next to him. He looks like he could be somewhere between 18 and 22. He has a dark shirt on with blue jeans, and he appears to be fascinated by the ocean as if it was calling to him. He stood in silence completely ignoring you and all the other trainers on the boat. Then he looked down at the side of the boat. "Such wonderful creatures, aren't they?" he finally said to you. Upon further inspection, multiple Seel are rubbing against the bottom of the boat and swimming along side it, leaping in and out of the water and keeping up with the boat quite well.

Meanwhile another boy walks onto the top deck of the boat. He is much younger, probably about 15. He has blue hair that is standing up and curved. He comes up towards Nico and Rostam. "Well, lets see if this thing works, shall we" he said with a big smile. He took out a small red device and pointed it at the Bulbasaur and then the Houndour and couldn't keep his eyes off of it.
