I said there was no Government because it isn't really a government they have a Police force and connections to an army but not much else in the form a Government.
Well in our game, I believe it should be more of a government to make the game more interesting and give the players the option to deal with the government.
    Quote from Daftmouse »
The Pokemon Association would not join either side because Gym leaders and the Pokemon Association already had an internal debate that nearly broke out into full on war about what side to join then they realized both were evil and joined neither side.
But, seeing Aqua's recent victory in Almia (Hoenn?) and their new plotting in Risin, and seeing how with Aqua's newfound scheming and attacks, Magma, by counteracting them, has done more good than harm, SOME members of the Pokemon Association have chosen to support them.

Immersa asked about different pokeballs. I really liked the puddle pokeball. I think we definitely need more than Poke, Great, Ultra, Master. I know Makorandy intended to put a lot of pokeballs into this game, which I think was a good idea. If we have a good ammount of them, catching pokemon will hopefully become a more fun experience.

It makes sense to me. In "New Risin" The Pokemon Association is the government. "Old Risin", however, has their own form of government. Slowly, and maybe through the course of the game, the Pokemon Association takes over the whole country.

And why did you imply that there was no government and then say that there is a government called the Pokemon Association. Then those are the ones who support Magma and not Aqua. They are the politicians.
I 'spose, either way I made a realization a while back, Aqua wants more water and less land therefore if a certain giant Iceberg city were to melt it would help their goal. In another words a small group of Aquas near that city will use fire types.
Makes sense. It kind of proves the illogicality of a city on an iceberg. Whatever. Yay Fantasy world!
Understood, do you have a better name though?
Maybe "Abandoned Warhouses" or it could vary on the place. I'll think about it though.

Have we put any thought into making some of these discussions public. The players don't have any thing to do right now, so we could get some of their opinions in SOME of these matters.

Also, is there a reason that my post in the Main Discussion thread was completely ignored?

True that there isn't a line dividing the Continent into 4 precise sections but it still would makie it harder to place cities in a somewhat realistic way.
Hard? Why so? The cities east of the Pasque Railroad are in Old Risin. The cities west of the Pasque Railroad are in New Risin.
Falkner took the Certification Exam with no badges and several other trainers have mentioned inheriting their gyms. The only reason why I even but that you need 2 is to make people realize "Hey, I can try this really early on." The keyword is try, they will fail the test if they try it that early on. The test is a 6 on 6 Pokemon battle with the Pokemon being High Level and Fully Evolved, unless the player is a 'tard (and I did have this problem when someone was trying to have their stater Pokemon survive against a Swampert) they will realize they can't win.
OK, if a character has a parent as a Risin gym leader, they can inherit the gym. But we shouldn't let players have parents as gym leaders. Why make a test designed so that they player will fail. That is stupid and a waste of our time and theres. And, remember that there are millions of trainers in the world. If they could all get gyms so easily, it would be a boring world. Makorandy's version made sense to me.
Because 2 WPL's helped create them there for we have 66.6% of the vote.
I went through a lot of work to make my map. You gave me some cities and I am including them in my map. Now you are making a map so I am asking you to please include some of my ideas in your map. Just because I am not in the majority doesn't mean you shouldn't respect my opinion. Or maybe, instead of just plain shooting it down, you could attempt to compromise.
Ash is completley brain dead, and if he had have asked someone that worked with the Pokemon Leauge Registration center they would have told him the Gym exists, they may have not known who the leader was or how to find the Gym but they could tell him it exists.
Nope. No one on the island thought the gym was still in existance if I recall correctly. I will compromise and say no one knows where the gym exactly is or who the leader is. It is somewhere in the middle of a huge desert island and therefore a long journey and very hard to find. Due to this, some doubt its existence. Happy?
Even so the games have set precedent.
I respectfully disagree. This is our game, we can do what we want with it. Route 1 makes more sense.

Pokemon Association =/= Pokemon League. Pokemon Association is then what I meant by government in that other post. Also, why can't Risin have a government? If it is a newly settled Region, maybe they formed a government.
That is Team Magma's goal though, to increase land mass by removing water.
Not in Risin though. Maybe they see the place as a paradise since it already has very little water. In Risin, their goal is to counteract Team Aqua.
The thing is all of the battles will be special, the Ghost leader for example will trick the challenger into a cave or something of the sort then they will begin the battle from a distance. If the trainer finds him before one or the other has lost he will introduce himself and explain that the ghost Pokemon that had been attacking the trainer where his and then a normal battle will continue.
I didn't say the battles should have a different feel. ALL battles should have a different feel to them(maybe not to this extreme, though) or else our game will get old real fast.
Additionally the trainer needs badges from all the leaders of Sarve's league, one for each Pokemon type.
Fine with me, but in a game like this, finding and beating 17 gym leaders would take a very, very, very, very long time.
The black market is a place where all evil organizations can recruit, set up missions and buy illegal things, however later on in different cities organizations will have headquarters. Aqua's will be in the water city with the pipes.
I am simply saying that since the primary function of the "Black Markets" is not a market, it should not be named "Black Market" That will confuse players.

I personally do not like this idea at all. I see the entire region as being equally devolped, and to have one side be lame and the other thriving is just annoying to deal with. Not to mention that since Froxy and I already split it as North Hot, South Cold it would split the region into quarters which just makes trying to fit cities far more difficult. Additionally even if, in fact likely due to the fact that, one side started devolepment sooner it would be just as if not more evolved than the rest of the region, I see Livian as being very up to date and trendy, but still fairly realaxed.
It is not half hot/half cold. The north "pole" of the region is hot. As you go down, it gets colder. There is no line where you cross and it is suddenly cold. The region isn't divided that way. Also, the Old-New division isn't really a lone either, and I only said East and West to simplify it. Some cities are "New Risin" cities, they are more developed. Some cities are "Old Risin" cities. They are less developed. It not that it is lame, it is just urban vs. rural
I wanted a Goldenrod/Celdon kind of city, is that what you are going for?
Pretty much, but all the towns in this game should be a little bigger than towns in the video game, because those are all tiny towns.
Given the fact that you now only need two badges to take the Certification test, this place makes no sense. Additionally I don't want badges to effect where any player can go, you can have 0 badges and still go to the Pokemon League, you wouldn't be able to challenge them but you can go there.
Once again, WHEN WAS THIS DECIDED? It should be much harder to be a gym leader. I really like how Makorandy did it. However, Ixia Island serves as a place where it is easier to be a gym leader. Almost all gym leaders started of with a gym on Ixia.
I really do not like this idea, and three Islands are already too much, in my opinion, we don't need a 4th
Why do your islands take precedence over mine?
No, there is no Pokemon gym rumored to be anywhere, if there is one people know it is there. I have no problem with there being a Dessert Island, but it would need to be far north and people need to take a ferry to get to it.
Did you watch the anime? This is similar to Cinnibar Island in the anime. No one thought there was a gym, but Ash found it and got the badge. Maybe there was a gym on the desert island, but it was abandoned long ago. However, if you go there, it is secretly still taking challengers.
I have no idea where this can go but I do like the Gym Leader on the Ferry
Oh, thank you! This almost makes it seem like you somewhat respect my opinion....almost.
Additionally both you and Froxy are doing this, Route 1-28 are in Kanto, Route 29-46 are in Johto, Hoenn's routes start at 101 and go to 134, and Sinnoh start at 201, so we could use 150-180 and be safe.
I always thought it was wierd when games started with a number other than 1. The other versions of the World of Pokemon started with Route 1, so why can't this one? It makes sense. It is a different region after all.

All mentions of Politicians and Governments don't work since the People in control in the Pokemon world are generally the Pokemon League Association, some towns have Mayors but that is the furthest a government structure has.
When did we decide this? The Pokemon League should only see over gyms and the Pokemon league. History has proven the necessity of government, so I think Risin would have one. Remember, this game needs to be accommodating of people who don't want to be trainers, but coordinators, breeders, rangers, etc. If the Pokemon League ruled the region, I feel like it would imply that everyone should be a trainer.
Additionally I see no reason to say the suceeded anywhere, I'd rather them have been thwarted.
I think since Magma was thwarted and the Rockets were kind of thwarted, Aqua could have just succeeded. They successfully summoned Kyogre. Did it work out perfectly, no, it kind of backfired, but they still accomplished their goal. It makes the teams different.
No one supports them, no one wants all the water to be gone, in fact in this region water already is fairly rare especially in the north half
I didn't say Magma wants the water to be gone in Risin. I said they counteract the acts of Team Aqua. Maybe they do have a problem with "Piper" city though, that would make a lot of sense actually.
This sounds alright however, Rockets have uniforms people who work for Avaritia don't, so it would be fairly easy to tell the difference.
I just feel like since Avaritia's Minions is a smaller group, people might not know what they are. When they are attacked by people without uniforms, they just assume that they are being attacked by Rockets who are not wearing their uniform for whatever reason.
His name is Sarve not Savre, sorry if I misspelled it somewhere.
He is a wanted criminal for a completely different reason, he has beaten the Risin E4 completely legally but refused to become the champion. He only owns one Pokemon. The Rangers are the main people after him however the police are after most of the members of his league not aware that they are connected together though. The Pokemon League Association know about Sarve and his un-official league and actually help him, he in return helps them to keep the Poachers and other Teams in check. Also his league works differently then others.

Frown I liked Savre. I think it would be more fun if he and his group were a Dimir-like gang controlling everything from the shadows. I feel like instead of being simply another pokemon league, it should have a whole different feel. That would make it so much more fun and less repetitive.
Huh? Black Markets ARE in buildings. They aren't like a Ranger HQ. They're in secret old warehouses, and whatnot.
You buy things at a Market. You buy illegal things at a Black Market. It isn't a shop, its a HQ, so I feel like we should name it something else. I know I was confused when I first saw that, so I'm sure new players would be too.

Unrelated, but can we make it so the Elite 4 are just four trainers who travel the region and people have to find them after beating the pokemon league in order to challenge them.

All right. We cna compare our two maps and compromise somewhere along the line. I'm about 3/4 of the way done. This is really an exhaustive task. Since you guys asked for me to add nine of your cities to my map, I am going to ask the same. These are places from my map that I really want to keep.

"Old Risin" and "New Risin": Risin is a large nation. When Risin was first founded, people entered the region from the West side at Livian port. The first few cities were rather quaint, and gyms and contest centers simply became part of another region's league. However, the government made a daring move to built the Pasque Railroad. The Pasque Railroad extends all the way from Juniper City (or Aster Town, as you call it) to Cypress Port (or Newbloom Town, as you call it). The East side of Risin is completly controlled by the Railroad. Other big cities cover the Railroad and the east side of the region is all linked to the Railroad. The Railroad caused the economy of the region to explode, allowing Risin to create its own pokemon league and build other large cities. Due to this "Old Risin" and "New Risin" are very diferent, even though they are in the same region.

Madder City: It is an Old Risin city that the Railroad was built through. Now it is the perfect example of a New Risin city. An extreme metropolis.

Mezereon Island: A completly desert Island. On the port of the island, there is a very small town. It is rumored that there is a pokemon gym in the center of the island.

Corriander Island: As I said, Risin was settled by people. Beforehand, the entire nation was empty, except for Corriander Island. Corriander Island is an extremely primative place. The natives accept visitors from the mainland, but they obviously don't enjoy them. Most mainlanders choose not to visit Corriander Island. There are no pokemon centers, stores, gyms, ranger HQs, or anything modern here.

Ixia Island: A gym leader’s paradise. You need at least 5 gym badges to come to Ixia island. It is a wonderful place to train for the pokemon league. Trainers that are strong, but not strong enough make gyms here and there is nearly unlimited space. While they are league certified, many people look down on them as fake gyms.

Foxglove River: Foxglove River is a river that leads from one town to another. It is also Route 13. It has a very, very narrow walkable path, but most people choose to take the ferry. The ferry takes a day to get to the city. On the ferry, there is a gym leader.

Finally, we have suggest many wierd cities. Cities on glaciers, on the ocean, in a crater, etc. The game really needs some normal cities in Old and New Risin.

Oh, and of what you said about the Brush and the RR, I put the Brushland near the RR, but I feel like it really wouldn't go through the brush. It is much more of an industrial Railroad with multiple tracks and trains that is surrounded by buildings and cities. We could change it, but it has to be the difference between Old and New Risin. It needs to be significant enough to cause an economic boom.

Oh, and one more thing I want to make sure the map has. In my map, there are multilpe Routes you can take. I think we need to give people a choice from the start.

PS: In my map, Cold is north and hot is south b/c of my desert island. The brushland is near the middle and kind of north, but it can snow in a brush, or at least in part of it...I think

    PPS:
Anyway, the class system does not exist on the same level Makorany had it. It exists, but there aren't all those secondary career things. You're a trainer, or a breeder, or a ranger, etc. However, if you're a trainer, you can be apart of contests. Randy made it seem like you couldn't. Stuff like that. You can do whatever you want, you're not limited and it's not necessarily a Role-Playing Console sort of game. Basically, we're toning it down.
(wow this post is getting long) I never got the sense that you were limited by your job. I always felt like a Trainer could still be in an Olympiad, or get a breeding license, etc. I think we should keep the whole system he had, but just make sure to put a disclaimer: "Just because you choose one job doesn't mean you can't do things in other fields." It was a well written system that described the game well and helped new players understand the game.

Working on it now to try to compromise. My questions are why does the Iceburg city have to be to the south, why does the tropical city have to the north, and why does Livian have to be to the Northwest?

With my name thing I am just renaming some of the cities

I also built this map with Makorandy's Job system in mind, becasue if you look all the jobs have a central city. By the way, in Pokemon, they alway name all their cities after something. In Kanto it was colors, I don't remember what the other ones are. All my cities are named after flowers, and I personally like that touch, but whether or not could be debated.

Rewriting the map to fit your cities. I intentionally left about 7 cities blank (the ones I refered to as "New Risin") so I'll add things in...will edit when I finish......

Also, if you are going to make desicions without me (which I would prefer not to happen too much), just know that I might not support all of them.

Magma can start off "ruling" the top of Risin, the Australian-y part with the Brush, and Aqua'll rule the bottom part that's similar to Canada. Almost like an East-Side/West-Side thing.
Again, I think we need to make some quick desicions about this game, because I think everyone wants it to get started ASAP. I think making a map of Risin should become very high on our list of priorities, because I think we need to do it to get the game started. I posted mine in the first post, but it sounds like you have some ideas, so post away.

No, I like the concept of Black Markets, but I do not like the name "Black Market." I sounds like a store and not a headquarters. I'd prefer to put the headquarters in abandoned buildings or different shady places depending on the city. Sure, one of them could be a Black Market, but the flavor of that being the base for all crime seems wrong. Also, I doubt these teams cooperate, or else they would work together, so we could have sketchy drime places that people can go to to get jobs, AND Rocket HQs, Magma HQs, Aqua HQs, etc.

Makorandy's descriptions are good for multiple reasons. One, they give a backstory to the team's presence in Risin. That way, it doesn't just seem like they are there causing trouble for no reason. Two, they give a lot of (my new fav word) depth to all the teams, and to crime in general. All the teams are differnet by what they are trying to accomplish and not just by location. We don't want Rockets, Aqua, and Magma to seem like the same people just in different places. That is boring. The teams each have something to accomplish, and people can choose which one they want to join.

Honestly, it doesn't bug me that Magma and Rocket were never in Almia. We just gave them a backstory, so it is fine. If you want to switch Almia to Hoenn and take the Sapphire version story, we can do that.

My bias against Team Galactic is personal. If you guys think it would be better for the game to include them, I am fine with that, but I think Froxy is right, we have enough teams for now. I also really like the ability to make your own crime organizations.

My philosophy right now is that we need to start making some decisions quickly. We have players waiting to play the game. I am going to attempt to describe all the teams in a presentable way and you guys can edit/make changes as nessecary:
    Rockets:
A group originally formed in Kanto, but they quickly expanded themselves across the world. The defeat of Giovanni, while devestating to the local Rockets in Kanto barely affected the Risin branch. Grunts seem like common theives, but the admins manage to keep the organization together well. While Aqua focuses on the big picture, Team Rocket is simply focused on stealing from others. Whether their motivation is greed, misanthropy, or they simply have nowhere else to go, the Rockets are bad news for city dwellers. The Rockets are mostly a plight of the lower/middle class, so the politicians are much less focused on these common criminals, but their influence is rather large. Since their schemes involve the common people, they are the most commonly encountered by players in the game.

    Aqua:
Essentially, Team Aqua is a group of Hoenn-born Eco-terrorist, obsessed with the protection and expansion of the ocean. In the past year, a plot by Team Aqua has left the region of Almia(Hoenn?) in flooded chaos. Confident from they’re recent victory, many of Team Aqua have begun to spread their influence to other regions, including Risin. However, for the common people, Team Aqua rarely even makes an appearance. Since stealing Pokemon is much less important to them, they probably wont just attack random trainers unless they get in their way. They are obseesed with their goal. People are very scared of their ultimate goal, so politicans have made dealing with Aqua very important, and people trust in the government to deal with them. Honestly, it is out of the control of most common people, so they fear the antics of Team Rocket more.

    Magma:
Also natives of Hoenn, Team Magma is reeling from it’s devastating loss in it’s gang war with Team Aqua in Almia(Hoenn?). Now that Aqua had layed roots in Risin, Magma is trying it’s best to do so as well, hoping to counter whatever damage Aqua may cause. While not exactly the most legal group of individuals, Team Magma has been seen as more well-minded and favorable by the population of Risin by actively standing against Team Aqua. A few politicians have been so bold as publicly announcing support for Team Magma.

    Avaritia's Minions
Avaritia's Minions is a group of Pokemon poachers. They are a much smaller group than any of the teams, so their influence is much less widespread. Many people confuse Avaritia's minions as Team Rocket members; however, their goals are much different. Avaritia's group uses the pokemon they poach to conduct experiments, which can include torture. Many of the minions are scientists, so with all of these experiments, they find cures and medicines involving Pokemon that ethical researchers would never encounter. However, they usually sell these to larger companies to make money and to keep attention away from themselves.

Savre's Minions (Kind of remind me of the Dimir)
Savre is an extremely powerful Pokemon trainer. However, 4 years ago, he attempted to cheat in the Pokemon League to try to assure himself a victory. In the final round, he lost to current Elite Four member ________ and was exposed for his cheating ways. However, he made a quick escape using his powerful pokemon and has not been seen since. Savre only trusts a handful of people, and has formed a group of spies. They work even more in the shadows than any other team, and not even the rangers know what that they exist. They study strong pokemon trainers. Savre will approach Pokemon League champions and challenge them to his own league. His acquantance can act as gym leaders. If you can find and defeat 8 of them, you can then challenge Savre. Once the secret has been entrusted to you, exposing it is unwise.

    Rocket:
Natives of Kanto, Team Rocket has finally reestablished some foot hold in Risin after their defeat at the hands of “Red” and the retirement of Giovanni. They generally focus on Pokemon theft, and nefarious research. Not much is known about them by the people of Risin, except for the fact that they’re in the region, and they’re bad news.

    Aqua:
Essentially a group of Hoenn-born Eco-terrorist, obsessed with the protection, and expansion of the ocean. In the past year, a plot by Team Aqua has left the region of Almia in flooded chaos. Confident from they’re recent victory, many of Team Aqua have begun to cause trouble for Risin. The spike in crimes connected to Team Aqua has become a hot button topic for Risin politicians and journalists. It is easy to say that Team Aqua is essentially the most feared Team in Risin

    Magma:
Also natives of Hoenn, Team Magma is reeling from it’s devastating loss in it’s gang war with Team Aqua in Almia. A few politicians have been so bold as publicly announcing support for Team Magma
Well, here is what Makorandy said. I really like Aqua and Magma, but I'd personally edit the rockets a bit to make them more prevalent.

Lol at Avaritia's Minions, but I like the idea. Do they stand alone? I feel like they would make a lot of sense as a squad of Team Rocket. Michael Syne might have to become a gym leader or something.

I really like Savre too. It seems like they are controlling everything and people don't know about it. It seems like all the jobs could unite against him. More of a network of spies that is kept very secret. Seems fun, but something we won't reall have to deal with for a year or two.

Oh, and please no Team Galactic!

Also, I really don't like "Black Markets" I like the concept, but it sounds like some sketchy people on the corner selling you drugs, not a building.

I think it is anime, but it thinks it is real. In other words, players can act very normal, but green hair and catching monsters in red/white balls and battling with them is normal.
