I agree that it probably has to do with the offspring mechanic making token copies (maybe even the 1/1 part) but not necessarily on death. The mana cost is in reminder text so I doubt it's being done in the Garth way.
They are already appealing to furries hard with this set, so I unfortunately wouldn't be surprised if they made offspring have to do with "breeding" creatures
Why unfortunately? What do you have against furries? Also, anything that just have antropomorphic animals must have to do with the furries community? So also Disney, Warner Bros, Don Bluth and any animator, fairy tale or whatever must be furry propaganda in your head?
Oh yeah they definitely do lol
Like I don't care that people are into it as much as it's just cringy to me, but I know things I like are cringy to some people as well.

Flavor text this bad is only used by Wizards of the Coast. That thinking cap's one is particularly awful. Yikes.
A disproportionate amount of this set has been really rough with the level of cringiness. And this is coming from somebody who enjoys Un-Sets. But their flavor texts have been getting consistently worse over the last few years where it used to be a bad joke on one or two cards that might catch you off guard and be kind of amusing in its own dumb way.
I hope this helps to show people that the test cards really aren't supposed to be considered real cards lol.
....eh? why so?
I mean using the same name as one of the test cards shows that they aren't actual cards in consideration when making real cards. It's not to say that They don't often work within the rules and that not all are unbalanced, but those were just made for fun for MB draft and not tested and shouldn't be seen as real cards. Even unsets are officially play tested.
And still, as one user already said, they literally made a test card a real official magic card (Enchantmentize ) so not only most of them works within the rules and are not unbalanced but there are real chances that some of them could actually be real cards and foreshadows of the future, because we have a real precedent. Sure, they are not play-tested like Unsets but still that doesn't say nothing about any single card being printable in black-border or not (as Enchantmentize proved). Sometimes, the card is just perfect as it is and it just need the right set to fit in.
That's fine and all, and yet the playtest card Enchantmentize itself still isn't a real card lol.

Lol basically the same flavor text as Zombie boa. I think at this point they should just cut out flavor text a lot of times. They usually end up repetitive and/or cringe.
Yes basically the same flavor text as *squints* a card from 25 years ago.
They have a lot of similar ones to others in general, though when I read that I'm like "haven't they used this already?" And I was certainly dating myself with the card I found that had it. But I'll still stand by the opinion that they shouldn't bother with flavor text most of the time for reasons of repetition and general bad flavor texts.

Looks like they made a mistake with the cursed and wicked roles - the arts are switched!
Apparently it was just an error on the digital mockup but I'm surprised they didn't fix it before showing the tokens again. I guess I'm actually not lol
"A variant of a mechanic returns to a premier set for the first time since it originally appeared"
I wonder if they're reworking Amass. On Blogatog people have asked before about variants of it for non-zombie army creatures and Maro has said it'd probably be doable. Possibly a long shot, but Phyrexians and non-Phyrexians amassing armies is straight up what's happening.
The three cards shown alongside the announcement don't personally excite me. Commander is my preferred format, but the first time around my playgroup immediately decided not to run Jeweled Lotus as soon as it was previewed. (Honestly Sol Ring is too swingy for my taste but it's put in basically every pre-con even lol so we've just kinda accepted that one.) The dragon doesn't do anything for me since I already had that pre-con. I'm sure the set itself will have more interesting stuff that fits my tastes, but this is one of the first times I haven't been excited by an announcement teaser.
