[*]Shuffling the opponent’s library when asked to cut, and deliberately putting half of the library the other way around. This makes them draw some cards the right way around, and some upside down, annoying them no end, and making them want to adjust their library constantly.

This will be interpreted as cheating. You are marking their cards, and you'll have a fun time trying to explain it.

There is one interesting play, by Chapin. He cast Profane Command with a Chameleon Colossus out, and chose the fear as one of the modes, declaring "all legal targets" as what he was choosing. His opponent didn't realize the Colossus couldn't be targeted, and didn't block it.

Glad I found this thread, it's been an amusing read this morning.

I don't have many of my own stories to tell, but one game comes to mind. I've been playing Magic for quite a few years, but my first ever sanctioned FNM tournament was around when M14 came out. I was playing some RWU control deck that was popular (borrowing several of the cards to complete it). Having recently gotten back into the game with very little meta knowledge, I had informed all of my opponents that I barely knew the cards and would have to read them. Everyone in my first three matches had been really cool about doing so, telling me specifically what each card that I wasn't familiar with did.

In the final round of the evening, I played against a Jund player. He didn't strike me as rude, but he got agitated whenever I asked him to clarify which lands he was playing. I hadn't memorized all the land art, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything significant. Well, turns out I had. I thought I had stabilized but I was tapped out, and he swings with a mana dork. After I indicate no responses, he pumps it with a card I previously wasn't even aware existed: Kessig Wolf run. It had been mixed into a stack of his ordinary mana-lands, and he had never mentioned playing it. Cheap way to beat a new player at a casual event. It was only later that I realized I probably had reason to call a judge.

Cards on the battlefield are considered "free information". If you don't ask, he doesn't have to explain anything, because what the card does is immediately apparent. But, if they intentionally hide it to misrepresent the game state, then they are getting into cheating territory.

Dictate of Heliod is far too slow. By the time you could cast it, you should already be in your end game, suiciding guys to build forces with Xathrid Necromancner and Athreos.

You just need a really aggressive opening, then drop Xathrid of Athreos to end the game. If your opponent can't deal with them, then you can just keep recasting your army and poking with Cartel Aristocrat.

Use proper spelling and format it like this:

    4 Herald of Torment
    8 Forest

    Then add deck tags:

That's a combination of two effects. Celestial Dawn makes all their lands Plains, so they can only produce white mana. If their Commander's color identity doesn't include white, then any white mana they would produce from those Plains is turned into colourless mana. If their Commander is white, then they can use that mana to it's full extent.

If you do so before the triggered ability resolves, then yes. The triggered ability effects creatures that are currently on the field when it resolves, and isn't "locked in" until then. If you can turn things into creatures, they will be effected by the trigger.

Whenever a mistake or suspicious behaviour happens during a game, the answer is always "call a Judge". There is no such thing as "that guy"; you want to play Magic, in a tournament, then you play Magic, which has rules. If you break them, you're the jerk whose risking being banned.

It's an activated ability, not a triggered ability.

With Celestial Dawn on the battlefield, you can use White mana as though it was any color, so you can activate that ability with just white mana.

You immediately call a Judge. If your opponent looks at your cards when shuffling, they are committing a game violation, if not outright cheating. If it's unintentional, it's a warning. If it's determined to be intentional, it's cheating, and they can be disqualified from the event.

Honestly, I think you should replace Herald of torment with Liliana's reaver, because the reaver is like the demon, and has to be answered to when it enters the battlefield.

Nope. This is an aggressive deck. Aggressive decks would much rather play the option than can win the game immediately, and efficiently deal damage in all other cases.

This ruling is notably for cards like Firespout. While you may pay white mana as it was red or green mana to pay for the hybrid mana symbol, Firespout will have no effect, because the game knows you didn't actually pay red or green mana to cast it. That's unless you paid actual red and/or green mana for the generic part of the cost, which Celestial Dawn allows you to do, provided that you could produce that mana while your lands are plains (it could come from a nonland mana source). It works both ways: although you can spend green or red mana only as if it was colorless because of the Dawn, you can use it on the generic part of the cost and the game knows it was red or green and Firespout will have the appropriate effect.

So for this example, lets just say I have just plains down on my side, plus celestial dawn.
Your saying that I could cast Firespout for two colorless, a plains tapping to produce green mana OR a plains tapping to produce red mana. This would then trigger one of Firespout's abilities but not both.

"Firespout will have no effect". Even though the mana fits the requirements to cast the spell, it's still white mana.

If a spell or ability required a specific color of mana for it, it keeps track of the actual mana spent to play. It means that something like Firespout would only see that you spend White mana on it, and wouldn't gain any effects.

Yes, you can do this. There is no interaction between the two abilities that would prevent you from activating them in succession. You can even activate Varolz, then immediately activate Jarad to return it, before the activated ability resolves.

Bow is good, but dead in most matchups. I have found reunions, elixir and riot control have been enough Game 1. Game 2 I bring in counters and bow, side out dictate and verdict (yes verdict) they tend to side out critters for burn, so verdicts isn't needed as much, plus it isn't good against haste

Dictate of Kruphix makes Bow of Nylea significantly stronger. Since you can easily chain Fog into Fog, the consistent life gain compounds greatly. Against aggressive decks, it counters a Burn spell on it's own each turn, which greatly reduces the advantages you give them.

I don't see the logic here. Hero's Reunion counters 2-3 burn spells for just 2 mana and 1 turn. And Dictate draws multiple copies of Hero's Reunion.

Well, it's hard to see logic when you "read" something that isn't there. I made a statement about Bow of Nylea becoming stronger life gain with Dictate of Kruphix, not a comparison to Heroes' Reunion. Heroes' Reunion is efficient, but it's goal is to help you transition to the mid game, where a consistent source of life gain keeps you ahead, and gives more wiggle room against direct damage. It's more relevant game two, when Skull Crack comes in, because gaining life every turn is harder to deal with than one shot effects.

But now that you mention it, your comparison has a really glaring flaw. The amount of total mana you spend is irrelevant, since one effect can be activated turn after turn, and the other is a one shot effect.
