how about adding enough equipment in the deck to allow for the the metalcraft elves? there seem to be decent 0 - 2 cost equipment/artifacts around, and if anything memnite and ornithopter help with vengevine recursion
I was thinking of making artifact based proliferate, throne of geth / contagion clasp combine with oran-reif the vastwood, joraga warcaller, and garruk/nissa. manipulating +1/+1 counters, loyalty counters, and -1/-1 counters seem like a good direction to go. if there's enough space, maybe also combine with the metalcraft elves because of all the artifacts already in there.
Adding venser and eldrazi monument to the mix seems like a good idea to me. So you could fill the lower end of the curve with cards like wall of omens, and other stuff that venser might like to blink. and then have the high end of your curve all be artifacts you want to shape anew into. Blinking golem before shaping it would also add more bang for your buck.
scenario: venser in play, cast golem, blink it. if it survives until next turn you could shape anew for a whole lot, and drop more golems, plus maybe myr battlesphere, and an eldrazi monument :D.
Of all the proliferate cards so far, what seems workable to me is Steady Progress and Thrummingbird. The former for the same reasons flash is awesome with mana leak, and the latter because it's on a body that's evasive and that at the least has a smidgen of board presence. Both cards work well in aggro and controlish strategies, with permanents like planeswalkers, levelers, ascensions, artifacts with counters, and critters with +1/+1 counters.
All the other proliferate stuff so far, the ones with activation costs, just seem a bit too "hard" to work with. Of course, some broken combo involving zero cast artifacts and proliferate and voltaic key might happen, but that still remains to be seen.
I wish proliferate shows up on other instant/sorcery effects that does stuff. Maybe a prolife-bolt, or a prolife-disenchant, or a prolife-growth, or a prolife-doomblade. I also want to see ETB or leaves battlefield proliferate triggers
I also like using proliferate to add counters to stuff your opponent would want to have run out of counters, you know, stuff he hex mages.
I think the Baloth will be used by of all decks, JUND, to live when fighting RDW. like vengevine. also, to survive the mirror's opposing blightnings, and then eventually blightning will be a sideboard thing (if it isn't already)
For me it's an Unyaro Bee Sting update Makes sense to me, although, only as long as lightning bolt is also in the format so as to maintain context. I've mentioned this before, and I'll mention it again, makes me curious as to how much instant speed direct damage should be costed for other colors. For example, in blue, given that Psionic Blast is a good precedent. Or perhaps in white and black, with previous redirect damage (and damage to attacking creature instants) and drain life cards as precedent. How will the power levels compare?
Obviously red should be best at it, followed by blue, and white should be worst at it. How many white mana symbols do you think an instant speed 1 damage to target creature or player spell will cost? I think perhaps WWW, whereas you get the same effect for G, and then you get 3 damage for R.
Also, I do believe burn/destruction towards flyers in green is good progress for the color, but making it general removal rubs me the wrong way.
Well, most green mages have always wanted for more "tricks" and "intelligence" in green, while retaining its flavour. Instant speed land tutors and cards like momentous fall, and other card-advantage-y stuff are steps in the right direction. Context is important, and in this environment, and I daresay the magic history, 1 damage is hardly "general removal." I welcome this little experiment that digs deep and references unyaro bee sting. I like it that they remember Mirage. Now if only they figure out ways to properly cost/power-level plow under, or make a dessert twister update that's slightly more competitive/useful. Perhaps a better reclaim? Or maybe a tricksy way to re-animate lands? Green should also be allowed to "play" on the opponents turn. Other colors have been doing it for so long now.
it's been mentioned before (sorry), but pyromancer's ascension.dec will love this. you get redundancy and chump with mnemonic wall, then there's all those spells with rebound and surreal memoir, and then there's that new scry-ponder. I hope time warp gets to use this.
unyaro bee sting gets an upgrade baby! yeah! I wonder how many "w" mana symbols a similar spell would cost, and how many "b" symbols as well, since there's precedent due to psionic blast. hmmmmmmmmmmmm?
Rigging it so you draw lands wouldn't be so terribly hard right? And the 2B cost makes it all the more splashable with other colors. :3 Not arena, but hey, moar cards!
maybe:
18 Forest
4 Oran Rief, the Vastwood
3 Accorder's Shield
3 Brittle Effigy
3 Darksteel Axe
3 Memnite
4 Joraga Treespeaker
4 Carapace Forger
4 Fauna Shaman
4 Elvish Archdruid
2 Joraga Warcaller
4 Vengevine
4 Ezuri's Brigade
this is just off the top of my head, so yeah, it's kinda janky, but it's a concept
