Finally Damnation is getting a reprint... Using wrath along to yahenni expertise, two lilianas and favoring 2 swamps for push felt soo wrong... Now i can wipe the board under a blood moon Smile

I tried Endbringer over the fourth smasher, and almost in every match i sided him out, and Lost lots of matches waiting for 1 of the 3. He is not that impactful to deserve a spot. Liliana's recursion is a lot more reliable as a "15-16" creature.

I am also thinking of trying Lost legacy, but i won't cut surgical, or else i Will have to play two legacies to have any chance of drawing it. Also, removing Karn or Titan does not solve the game, especially agains tron... I simply can't come up with a solution that affects both decks other than gq+surgical...

I'm testing many different versions of Eldrazi, including Tron and BW. BW seems very interesting with the ability to interact early then follow up with undercoated midrange beaters. However, the "processor" version only runs 3 Strangler. To accommodate this you have to run 3-4 Relic and Anguished (which you probably wouldn't run if not needing to exile).

My question is whether Strangler is good enough to run so many cards to support it. Or would you be better off with more removal and another Eldrazi like Endbringer?

I haven't played BW much yet. Just trying to theorycraft.

Without Strangler your creature count Goes very low... You could increase creatures, but you will lose the removal, or increase removal and lose creatures... Also, main deck grave hate is really Good against a lot of decks... Also, cantrips Wink Anguished unmaking is there as an answer do blood moon and walkers, do not underestimate it.

Nice report, deadrift. I am still very hapy to have both relics and surgical main deck after the bannings. There are lots of decks that came back from afterworld after dredge was declared dead... Lots of people abandoned rest in peace and leyline of the void, favoring those decks. GP Vancouver had 2 dredges, an abzan and a living end at top 8! I am facing also a LOT of Grixis control and BGx variants, all dependant on graveyard. I really think BW Processors are in a good shape right now. We have really Good matchups against all of these midranges, a good disruption against combo, like Ad Nauseum, and a favorable match against aggro with push (merfolk now is a breeze if we can avoid spreading seas) My nightmares still come from Land decks, valakut and tron, and i am really considering siding in Rain of Tears or Fulminator Mage, if affordable... Ghost quarter alone is not enough, and the Mage with Lili, last Hope might be a very strong Lock if they are not packing bolts or sudden shock!

Played another FNM today and went very close to 4-0... Last match we Drew, but if i had one more turn i would Win. Here is My list (pretty close to Polymorph's list)

    Went 3-1-0

    Match 1 - BG Delirium 2-0

Same guy i lost last week playing valakut. Thankfully he was playin a BG midrange that simply gets eaten by us. Liliana was an all star in match one, ultimating while holding off a Grim flayer. Tks sealed the game by blocking the second flayer.

Game two he was mana screwed and i could play threat after threat for the Win.

    Match 2 - Affinity 2-1

Game 1 I Lost after relic'ing my own lingering souls accidentally and then losing to a topdeck plating on vault skirge.

Games 2 and 3 i just Drew too much removal and My entire sideboard so he did not have a chance. Yahenni expertise was an all star, wiping his board and casting path on ravager or lingering souls on G3

    Match 3 - Grixis control - 2-0

Why the hell there is so many people playing this annoying deck? This thing was build to draw games, it is not fun! As always, deal with tassigur and you're fine. Just make sure you can stick a smasher to Win. Boarding in rest in peace was critical to stop him from chaining multiple cryptics (game 1 he played 3 from a single snapcaster for tap+bounce!).

Game two he had to block with tassigur, bolt and discard to kill smasher, then I removed Tass and when he kolaghan Commanded me for discard, i thrashed lingering souls to his amusement. second smasher won the game.

PS: this match would be sooooomuch easier if i had a cavern of souls....

Match 4 - mono W Eldrazi and taxes.

This was the most hard and fun match of the night. This is a twisted mirror match, and Thalia and leonin arbitrer screws us Good. Have to time preciselly our removal to have a chance of winning

Game 1 I Lost to Eldrazi displacer... had an useless smasher and lingering souls, while he had tks and displacer hitting and clipping for 7/turn. This thing is insanely Good!

Game two i boarded 13 cards! I kept a slow oppener, but full of removal and this proved to be the right call. Brutallity kills everyting early on, but i had to path some times so i could crack fetchs... Ghost quarter under arbiter on our temples is a really painful play. Yahenni's expertise sealed the game killing 4 creatures, including displacer n°2, and next turn My tks and the topdecked smasher were game.

Game three was pretty similar, but i failed to find the fifth land for several turns só i could yahenni's under a Thalia. Kept hitting with reshaper, and when he vialed in another Thalia to block him, revealing smasher, i could play the expertise and play an unprocessed Strangler to race him. Smasher came next and we went to 5 turns, as unfortunatly he wasn't playing fast (mental game of this match was of a HIGH level champ). He manager to halt me enough so i let him with 1 Life and match ends a draw :(.

Tha was a moral 4-0, but whatever. I was again pretty happy with the deck, specially for all the guys that were watching suggesting the D&T guy to switch to My build haha. Liliana was awesome, and smasher is the best creature ever printed kkkkk. Also, i'm thinking of moving towards a second expertise in place of wrath, and Lost legacy over stasis snare. Also have to find a place for 2 fatal pushes there!!!

The problem with extircator is the only reasonable way to flip him is to crack a mindstone or lose a creature, two things we often do not want to, except if you have collective brutality, Marsh flats and matter reshaper. It feels the kind of "Win more" guy, don't know if he is relevant. I Will try Liliana the last Hope as another 3 drop, and go 1 wrath / 1 yahenni expertise on my side board, as i absoluttely wont afford damnations and need wrath for affinity and eldrazis matchups. Playing 2 swamps, 1 plains.

Played last night at my LGS and got a sad 2-1-1... let me share some results.

    Match 1 - Grixis Control 1-1-1 (0-1-0)

This was the list from ProTour, with a single explosive main deck. What an annoying match, this is! Our removal are almost always useless, except for tasigur, which is always backed up by counters. Lost first game to tasigur and Double counters on my paths, and won second one after a lot of attrition. G3 went to time out, however i was about to lose to snapcaster after 6 turns drawing lands...

    Match 2 - Merfolk 2-0 (1-1-0)

This guy played super fast, and after the last draw, i tried to follow him. Turns out i made some mistakes, such as missing a land drop after combat. However, i drew so much removal (4 paths/1 push main deck), it was unfair. Had tks and smasher, and he blocked smasher with mutavault with 5 Life, to see vault gq'ed. G2 was much harder, with him throwing 2 spreading seas on my koilos. Was Lucky to draw a vault of archangel to play smasher and swing several turns. He played very well, not letting cards to be exiled and making my stranglers useless. Had to throw them even so to put pressure after he sticked a lord of Atlantis. 2-0

    Match 3 - another Grixis control 1-1-0 (2-1)

Same list, this deck seems to be everywhere! Saw another two guys playing it on the tables at my side! Game 1 I thoughseize and surgical his tasigur, removing his threats to 0, except for snap bolts and manlands. With two ghost quarter, the g1 lasted 25 minutes and i eventually won (he played a total wooping of 7 críptic commands to stop my souls from attacking. G2 was even more annoying, with him playing 2 ancestral visions on turns 1 and 2, serum visions and not drawing lands past 2. However he had answers to everything. This game i took him to 1 Life and we Drew,

Then I was excited to play the last round and get to 3-1-0 just to see my opponent play "Stomping Ground, search for tomorrow". Felt My night was over after that single play...

    Match 4 - RG Breachshift 0-2 (2-1-1)

Well, lost g1 to chalice of the void = 1, and a breached Titan. G2 i was aggressive, with turn 3 warping wail his search, turn 4 smasher, turn 5 he is down to 10 Life, i throw reshaper and stranglers and he.... Breached a titan.... He opted to clear my board with 12 damage... I drew thought knot, tried to strip down from any threat he coukd have, but he had both scapeshift and pact... I simply had no chance of winning without GQ AND surgical. This match is sóomuch worse than tron that it is a joke...

Anyway, was satisfied overall. I Am waiting my lilianas to arrive só i can give them a try. Let's see how well she goes.

Also, i saw a LOT of decks playing ancestral visions, and i never drew a strangler to kill it. Do you think i would be wise to up stranglers to four, cutting a reshaper (playing 3 and 2 at the momment)?

Yeah, I really want a new lili but I am waiting until it rotates. Endless one seems okay but with all of the fatal pushes running around I would look for a creature that provides value when it dies. Such as hangarback walker, which somebody brought up a few pages ago. Lingering souls is one of the best cards for us, why no try a card that produces 1/1 fliers when it dies?
Because we have Lingering Souls, is why.
    • Endless One can do something our deck can't do (make a 6/6 or bigger), while Walker does something our deck already does (make 1/1 fliers, replace itself when it dies).
    • Endless One has half the casting cost, and benefits from Temple--so it will always be much bigger, at really any stage of the game. And it benefits from from Cavern, so it will land on occasions when Walker would not.
    • Walker can't pump itself until you can untap with it, nor if you attack with it, and even then it can do so only if you have the untapped mana.
It seems clear to me that Endless One will be much faster pressure overall, while Walker will be much grinder. I want a card that shores up our weak spots, not one that reinforces our strengths. Which one would you rather have in a Gx Tron match (AKA one of our toughest), where you're siding in Stony Silence? Walker might be better, but I am not convinced.

Either way I'd run only one, in a Reshaper slot. And I have no idea where I might squeeze in a Liliana, the Last Hope. Sorin is necessary for lifegain, as far as I'm concerned. (I tried Whip of Erebos for a while, but Sorin is so much stronger.) Soren's a lot easier to cast on-curve than Lili is, and he conflicts with fewer cards for his slot on the curve. And, I'm already at 61 cards (for now) as I debate the role of Relic, Mind Stone, Fatal Push, and Surgical Extraction in the main. Making room for one more seems pretty tough.

I Would try 1 push main, 1 push on side And two lilianas. This is what i will do, as i play displacers (might cut 1 or both) Since i cut 1 relic from main, i feel 4 Path is needed to play stranglers consistently. Also i strongly suggest you guys keep sea gate wreckage in this deck. This Land wins more games for us than Cavern of Souls, which is sided out almost always If you are not facing counters.

I agree with you - smasher and reshaper are just that good that they deserve a spot on the deck. I just think there is no place to scullers, from my point of view. Lists running up to 6 discards main deck (thoughtseize, inquisitions and brutality) along to 4 TKS, shouldn't need sculler to disrupt. I would all day slot in two to three collective brutality over sculler, or even liliana, the last hope (which is just HUGE on lategame), if i'm playing lots of colorless lands to rush reshaper, TKS and smasher. if I draw a temple, I will really really want to curve reshaper/displacer into TKS into smasher. Playing sculler on T3 after landing a vent on T1/T2 and not having a temple is an awful start, as it can be easily killed (even more now with fatal push) and you simply got timewalked on a critical turn of this deck. Worst if you have to block with it to stay alive. Just my two cents ^^", if he play well for you, go for it. This is why I LOVE this deck!

Cutting Reshaper and Smasher doesn't make any sense imho.

The Mimic is actively bad outside of a dedicated tribal-aggro deck (where it is just ok) and this deck is more of a midrange-control one.

Mimic into 5/5 thoughknot into 5/6 herder with 3 2/2 tokens os nothing to laugh of. I just pointed that to play scullers with more consistency you need more colored lands, And you need more processors to get extra value from scullers. Both herder And smashers leads to a heavy deck, so you cut smashers and go a token route. In that build, mimics shine, And thw only slot for them os reshapers'.

If you are playing tidehollows I strongly suggest you go the Blight herder route, instead of smashers, and displacer instead of reshaper. You shuld up two tô three concealed courtyards, cutting maybe a ghost quarter and 1 koilos, perhaps. Also, the New mimic lord from AER and up to 2 sorins... Abusing tokens in general. I would run two to three warping wails in the 75 to deal with scapeshift, tron sweepers, affinity 1/1s and so on, which also can throw a token tô the table.

Deadrift have talk about this angle of attack a few pages earlier, im sure you can find Good info reggarding scullers there

This is the list I have been running... Pretty satisfied with it so far! Went to four FNM level tournaments and got hese results:
2-2 (losing to a uw titan emeria and RG Shamans, wins on junk and burn),
2-2 (losing to affinity and dredge (u.u), wins on another affinity and jeskai ascendancy)
3-1 (Lost to affinity, wins on jund, Sun & moon and Bw tokens)
3-1 (Lost to GW hatebears, wins on Mardu midrange, infect and affinity)

All matches i Lost were because i mana screwed somewhere or missed side board cards (not a single removal agains affinity after boarding 12 cards!)

    [Deck]
    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/01-02-17-bw-eldrazi/

Using lots of one-ofs maindeck and copies on side board gives this deck a lot of options to deal with bad matchups on game 1 and improve a lot on game two. My affinity matches consists of 12 cards coming into main deck! There is a lot of removal to deal with any creature based decks, threats strong enough to put on pressure on midranges, lots of discards to stop combos and control... The only decks that are really bad to face are those that topdeck wins, tron and valakut (and sometimes nahiri), and for then I have 3 ghost quarters and 1 Surgical main deck.

Things that i am trying to fit in are a single Endbringer and maybe EMN Liliana. However endbringer would take a spot from smasher and i am not happy to have a 6CMC Card that does not put pressure right away or dies so easily. Let's see how it goes. Liliana on the other side is a very strong Card and just flat out Win games. However cutting displacer or reshaper Hurts me a lot (they are Great turn 2 drops).

Planning on taking the deck to GPT São Paulo next weekend and Will bring you results.

I am using 2 reshaper and two displacers. A bolt on displacer is a bolt less on our face, as it probably wont go towards our creatures. If displacer stocks, it can go nuts with stranglers. Also, it is a Card that can shut down affinity on game 1, unequiping plating, nulifying ravager counters and tapping máster of etherium. It is also useful against tokens, tron creatures, oposing smasher... And on a last resort, control draws with tks. I really really like having it among the mainboard.

Have you found Rest in Peace useful agains decks other than dredge? I am using 1 on my SB and always put it in and feel that if had drew it, i'd won. Decks like UW Emeria, Jeskai Assencion, dredge, living end, jund/junk (especially since it is probable they Will side out Abrupt Decay), and so on... Or is surgical just better to use because of valakut and tron? Right niw playing a split of both 1/1.

Finally completed the deck on paper yesterday (ok, missing cavern of souls...)! I'm very happy and eager to test it out. Went 2-2 last week on FNM with incomplete list, losing to uw Emeria, rg shamans and got easy wins through burn and junk. And now the meta seems just to be adjusting to our strategy. I was using 4 relics md and 1/1 surgical and rest in peace on my sb (cause relice alone just isn't enough). Now i feel like dropping RiP for a second surgical for the tron/valakut decks and a relic for Liliana... Also, i'm having too much trouble with emrakul decks and considering an 1-of to the slaughter...It also helps the match against tron and Walker dependent decks, like nahiri and Jund. Also, one Card i'm testing for real is Wall of Reverence. This thing is a beast against aggro decks like burn and Bant Eldrazi, considering it drops on t3; it blocks smasher and flyers, delver, tasigur, and the Life gain with smasher or tks is too much to a lot of decks to handle. One trigger and you're out of valakut range for a couple turns.

Another Card i'm considering is 1-of endbringer, as he can nulifly an annoying blocker or attacker, draw multiples on late game, when we most need, and is a nice interaction with Lili.

I have righ hopes for our deck in the new meta that's rising and soon will share my resultados and list.

    Greetings from Brazil!

Mind Stone is extremely useful as a T3 tks or smasher without Temple, gets you out of a blood moon (Lost some games cause mind Stone was spellsnared and followed by b.moon) and, with fatal push, provide cantrip plus revolt. I wouldnt take it out. Also, drawing two anguisheds hurt a lot a deck with thought seize, 3 fetches, 2 shocks and 4 painlands maindeck. I think 1 mb and 1 sb is the right call
