Seems that way, though Monored can put serious pressure on Esper, Lithomantic Barrageis hell on Esper, on top of all of the other burn cards to keep their creatures in check except her, of course. I'm a bit worried about Atraxa being in the format, even if there's no Fable to dig for her anymore. I suspect one of those two may still get the boot in August. I wouldn't have banned Bankbuster, but Fable and Invoke Despair had reaally overstayed her welcome, so good on WOTC.
I would have banned the 3 banned cards, and Atraxa and Raffine alongside them.
for 3 mana, chances you're actually casting something from the exiled cards with this isn't very real until super late game.
seems like most of the time you're just hoping for lands.
and in super late game you're most likely hiting sonmething without all that much excess damage to spare... so, yeah
if it was straight up 3 mana deal 5 damage, draw a card, it would be a lot better, I think.
I wonder if there are other battle subtypes in the set or if they're just future proofing the card type by making these the rules for sieges.
I'd bet that there are other types....
Siege might be the one you want to beat, I'll bet that there's some other type that wou will want to defend because it's strong on the battlefield and the flip side might be bad for you...
IIRC, there will be one of those in every pack... so... they need a pretty large amount of those.
i mean, its not anywhere near as good as it needs to be to be playable on constructed and has a trigger that wont ever do anything in limited… so, what gives?
The enchantment seems very abusable this is certainly creating a crapton of instant kill combos.
I mean... every planeswalker is a burn spell...
with that on the battlefield, you drop Dark Depths.... and it deals 10 damage to anything.
there is a metric ton of cards that will straight up finish the game with that on the battlefield....
stuff that puts counters in every creature such as Defiler of Vigor
you could go and search stuff with cumulative upkeep or whatever... damn, that thing might be janky, but it will certainly create a ton of "I win now" situations.
I like it. Hearth and Home seems much better, but this isn't half bad
I wouldn't say that Hearth and Home is clearly better....
I mean, it bliks a creature and always hits a land... this one can gain up to 2 cards of card advantage if you can play both.
I think it's really fine.
IMO, it's an above average sword and the best equipment piece since Embercleave.

goodbye midrange fest.
hello Reanimate/esper legends meta.

and that plays in the same deck as cat oven....
play kroxa... it dies... 1 counter.
sac cat... 2 counters.
sac food, gets cat back... 3 counters.
sac cat again: 4 counters.
pay 3 to replay kroxa, and it dies again, 1 counter... that's kinda scary, really.
each cycle will recover 3 of the needed 4 tokens without any help from anything else.
it almost plays itself every turn.
and I'm really scared about this thing alongside cat oven.
I love it.
i mean, its not anywhere near as good as it needs to be to be playable on constructed and has a trigger that wont ever do anything in limited… so, what gives?
I wouldn't say "damn good" the days of a 4/3 flier for 5 being an awesome stat line is long gone.
This thing is most likely just a C or something, certainly playable, but I doubt it's anywhere near the best commons for limited in the set.

Mardu legends with Nahiri, Mondrak and Ratadrabik of Urborg is certainly one of the first things I'm trying once this set releases.
the competition for the 7 mana slot is quite strong, though.
we have Titan of Industry and Nissa, Ascended Animist up there.
this would need to find a list where it's inclusion would make more sense than those 2... and it's going to be hard, I guess...
either way, very menacing threat to say the least.
