A lesser player might stop for a second and think that a 78 card Mirari Conjecture deck might not actually be playable in the world of monoblue and monored. It takes a true veteran expert to make the tough calls and determine that cheaty monored players are the problem all along.
If Monored’s everywhere on Arena, just play a deck that preys on it.
Acknowledging the metagame, choosing the worst possible archetype for that metagame, deliberately ignoring basic deckbuilding principles, then complaining that you keep losing is a joke.
I chose this forum because on the first page it was just open ended dimir and I am also new to mtg salvation so if you have a better forum please tell me.
So this thread is for cube - where instead of having a deck, you have a set of cards that you draft, play, then mix back together to draft again the next time.
I think this is the thread you want to peruse if you’re trying to make a modern-legal UB mill deck.
^ Copying planeswalkers is good, but cloning your own stuff is generally win-more. There’s a reason Mirror Image costs a whole mana less than Clone and still sees no Cube play.
I have recently gotten into Dimir playing and have been looking through the internet for some good standard/modern legal Dimir mill/discard as well as planeswalkers to add to my deck. Any response is greatly appreciated.
Testing: Saheeli, Sublime Artificer <= Man o’ War: Broader archetype support, and I don’t run any Show and Tell - type cards, so jellyfish is at best a Reveillark trick or Recruiter target. Vivien’s Arkbow <= Song of Freylise: I feel like Arkbow does something unique, so it’s worth a try. But where Song is explosive, Arkbow is extremely inefficient, so I don’t expect it to last, and won’t even experiment with it if it stays over $2. Mizzium Tank <= Chandra’s Phoenix: Bridges artifacts into the spells/aggro line. Also lets me trade Molten Rain for Stone Rain, which I’ve been hoping to do. Teferi, Time Raveler <= Lyev Skyknight: Skyknight’s secretly a boss, but still I like the Teferi Flash thing, and am willing to give it a shot. The numbers of loyalty on Teferi make me a little suspicious, and kind of imply it’s a 3-mana Repulse+2 life, but I really like the Teferi gimmick and am willing to proxy it for a meetup.
I was intrigued because I’m trying to force a bad package with Fevered Visions / Howling Mine / Jace Beleren / Black Vise / various tappers, but “Noncreature, Nonland” probably means it cross-pollinates too little.
I’d be happy to play this (or Naturalize) if it’s in any cube from Pauper to Powered. But even at 540, I have like two slots in green that aren’t rock-hard staples or combo/synergy pieces, and I prefer to use them for weird buildarounds.
Plus I’ve already told myself for 2-3 years that I’d make room for Manglehorn, and still haven’t gotten around to it.
I don’t think this Ashiok’s a card in cube. Old Ashiok threatens to win by ticking up fast for creatures or Wit’s End. This just kind of sits there, threatening a turn 14 kill - if it doesn’t take any damage beforehand.
Maybe on top of the other Ashiok or ToS it could be a wincon, but that’s a narrow card slot.

If this is for cube, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and Thief of Sanity are the two most reasonable dimir mill cards.
Maybe Nemesis of Reason or Consuming Aberration, if you’re digging deep.
Can’t imagine digging this deep in blue though

I still can’t imagine playing this, even at Pauper.
