Thanks for the reply. You are correct, I don't want to paint anything, simply gloss the rose. I considered foil but I haven't found anything on how I could achieve that either. I just think it would add a nice touch to a card I think is pretty neat.

I was thinking about the possibility of masking off the rest of the card (maybe use a damaged copy or a 1:1 printout to create the mask so as not to damage the original when cutting it) and then using a high gloss clear coat spray.

I don't know if Acidic Slime counts as "big", but it's basically free money-wise and can be devastating to flicker.

Funny you should mention that; that card is what caused my loss when I last played my Sydri artifact deck. I hadSydri, Galvanic Genius paired with Caltrops but my opponent used Acidic Slime to destroy Caltrops and I was short one mana for my counterspell.

I got Profaner of the Dead, Eerie Interlude, and Alhammarret, High Arbiter from a LGS today. I also pulled a Sandwurm Convergence from a pack, figured it might be of some use. Thoughts?

Thanks for the replies everyone, and I apologize for not responding sooner. As I've built this deck I really feel like I should focus a bit more on creature sac to make Rubinia have more presence.

Thanks, I was checking eBay for a bunch of different lands from specific sets, but not random assortments. My LGS unfortunately doesn't keep any old lands on-hand; they have plenty of newer ones and a binder of non-basic lands, but nothing like I'm looking for.

Random old frames. I've been checking around, but I'm feeling cheap and asking if anyone knows where I can get plenty them cheaply, maybe 10-15c/card instead of 25+.

No, it doesn't have to be green. That's just where a lot of the best big guys tend to be. I will surely check out some more decklists. Smile

I've ordered Rubinia Soulsinger as a new commander. What I've found so far is that she's effective in flicker decks. I want to build a flicker/control deck, with creature sac if possible, but I also want some big green creatures for brute force. I would really like them to have ETB effects for other creatures. I know hydras often have ETB +1/+1s, but I would need a way to move those counters then flicker the hydra. What cards should I look for?

I'm not looking to spend much here, hence the sub $1 commander lol.

I'm looking for a good price on some 8th ed. and prior lands. I don't need a lot, I would just like to use them in decks out of personal preference. Smile

I want to alter a card very slightly. I want to alter Mana Short so that the flower petals, and possibly the stem, are high gloss while the rest of the card stays matte. I've never altered a card before and would like to know how I can do this. I have some artistic talent so this should be quite simple. I also don't want this to create an unlevel surface on the card. Please let me know what method I can use for this.

EDIT: If you're unfamiliar with the card, the newest printing changed the art. All others were a rose with a petal falling.
