I have a bunch of antiquities and arabian nights cards and have decided to sit down and do the jeweler's loupe test to look for fakes in the more expensive cards. What really stood up to me is that all cards (including the ones I pull out of the packs) in both sets have rosette patterns permeating into the card name, type, and copyright/artist name (white texts of the cards). Is this a phenomenon that is only present in both these sets? Is it because they decided to use a different printing machine or something during that time? (I realized both sets were one after another)..If so, how do I identify fakes other than the light test when the rosette pattern test is out the window?
Just got into Tasigur and I must say that he is incredibly fun. I just found out that he will probably be banned in French which makes me kinda sad cos I like to play both multiplayer and 1 v 1..do you guys have any commander in mind that would take Tasigur's place w/o changing the core of the deck when I'm doing French 1 v 1?
1) So I haveSmothering Abomination and Awakening Zone in play. At the beginning of my upkeep, can I choose which permanent's triggered ability to resolve first? For e.g. trigger Awakening zone for a token and trigger smothering abomination to sac the token to draw a card.
2) I have a Strionic Resonator in play and I sac my Kokusho, the Evening Star. Can I target Kokusho's triggered ability with stroinic? Or is it an illegal target since kokusho is going to the graveyard and is not under my control as it leaves the play?
The ability reads: Exile another target creature(,) then return it to the battlefield tapped under its owner's control. Since there is a comma after the exile effect, how does it interact with the stack? For example:
My opponent plays a spell, I have Mystic Snake in play. I responded by activating Displacer's ability. Does the spell resolve first after the snake is exiled (since there is a comma after exile) and then the snake returns countering nothing? Or does the spell gets countered?
So apparently there are 2 different versions of text for static orb. If I use Derevi to tap the static orb, does it deactivate it? If so, does this apply to winter orb too?
Wow, did you guys see that eye has dropped all the way down to 39 on tcg? People are definitely fearful it'll get banned
I immediately sold my eye at it's peak once I see 6 eldrazis in the top 8. I would say that this card is close to a 100% ban certainty. The only thing is when?
What are you plans on a non-eye of ugin route in the near future (I assume that eye will get the ban hammer)?
Sell the deck beforehand, then use the money to either get into Legacy (where there are fewer bans) or migrate to another game (say, Force of Will).
Other than there, there is Sanctum of Ugin. It isn't repeatable, but it does have the benefit of tapping for mana and does let you cast an expensive spell AND search in the same turn. With Eye of Ugin you have to choose between casting your Karn versus spending the mana to tutor up something, whereas you can do both at once with Sanctum of Ugin. The other possibility is just to crank up the number of Ulamogs/Wurmcoils you're playing to ensure you draw them.
That is actually a great idea, I'm going to test it out at my local lgs.
The problem is, Eldrazi keeps changing faster than the meta can adapt. Changed your deck to avoid having a graveyard? Too late, Eldrazi moved away from Oblivion Sower and Blight Herder 2 weeks ago.
have all the answers for Mono-Back? Well, now ther's Bx, where x = all the other colors, including colorless.
Running Crumble to Dust to stop their Temples and Ugins? They just got Warping Wail to cancel it.
And now they are running pure unadulterated speed to get around your Aligned Hedron Network. Eldrazi Displacer, Brood Monitor and Zulaport Cutthroat (or Altar of the Brood) to end the game before you can bring your best threats online. AHN touches none of those.
Other speed decks are running Conduit of Ruin and Deceiver of Form to get multiple Pathrazers of Ulamog out turn 4 or 5.
I'm sure there are some going for a pure aggro version using the lower cost creatures than can be cast for 1 or 2 mana with a Temple and Corrupted Crossroads out. Eldrazi like Wasteland Strangler, Blisterpod, and the fliers.
I wont be surprised if Eldrazi takes half the top 8 slots at Pro Tour, and wins the whole thing. I predict it.
I think fast aggro decks like burn, affinity and infect will take the majority of the top 8 with 1 to 2 Eldrazi variants. Tron will be hated out.
Pretty much any utility land can fill the utility land slot (Sea Gate Wreckage, Cavern of Souls, Etc.)
Anyway, having fun with it. No doubt it's not fully optimized yet. Pyxis has been cute/interesting.
I have a GB version too...I feel that the processor built is too hand/situation dependent and the midrange/stompy build is more stable and resilient. This is my decklist if you want to take a look: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/gbc-eldrazi-stompy/
This is my updated version of G/B/C Eldrazi Stompy, added mutavault for mana sink/ early aggro mitigation and essence depleter for life gain/late game win tech. It also draws extremely well and can perform early game kills with very little mana screw: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/gbc-eldrazi-stompy
1. Eldrazi
2. Death and Taxes
3. Miracles
4. Death and Taxes
5. Death and Taxes
6. BR Reanimator
7. 4c Delver (Friedman style)
8. Hex Depths
Decklists here...thoughts?
