Jul 3, 2008Tarmogoyf posted a message on Post FNM Jitters and a Question :)If you actually want this deck to be good and you've decided to run bitterblossom, then just play faeries. Under the current state, you're playing *faeries* that always loses the mirror. Atleast if you play faeries you have a shot at actually beating faeries.Posted in: Johnation Blog

Jul 1, 2008Tarmogoyf posted a message on Flooded with cool ideas!!!Currently I'm losing interest in my block I have a really good idea for making a block based around mill. I want to see how much mill has to be pushed to be a viable strategy and flavorwise I was going to make it refer to time travel. A mechanic that has creatures deal damage in the form of milling. Mill spells similar to burn spells. Triggered/activated abilities that include milling. Loxodon Hierarch of Mill: When this creature comes into play, put up to 6 cards in your graveyard on the bottom of your library. Milltrips instead of cantrips.Posted in: TarmoBlog
I know it may sound stupid, but I'm just interested in seeing more than 1 let alone even 1 mill deck do good on the tourney scene. Wouldn't you crap yourself if there were TWO different mill archetypes in the finals of a Pro Tour? I know I'd **** bricks. -
Jul 1, 2008Tarmogoyf posted a message on Card difficulties@Red: The exact same thing happened to me. I made it to round 2 but I was so swamped with school projects I missed the deadline lol. Oh well, it's not like I care since often times I disagree with what critics feel about work so why should it be any different when people judge my card creation.Posted in: MeatballWarrior Blog
@Meatballwarrior: Yeah, I kind of know what you mean but you can't take it so seriously. Card creation(at least for me) is meant to be a calm relaxing fun way to express myself. All other aspects of MTG for me are very competitive so I decided that I'm not going to compete in the contests anymore. Now I don't know about your situation, but what I do know is that taking an calm inspired approach turns out better cards than trying to force ideas.
One tip I can give you though, is to play a few games of magic. Try to focus on aspects of the game that come up(the stack, the artwork, mechanical tricks) and you might find some good inspiration there. That's usually how I come up with ideas.
Currently I have plenty of ideas, but me giving you ideas isn't the same as you following your own. The cards would end up crappy so instead of asking for help I would just stick to asking for advice.(and if that's what you meant then nevermind.) -
Jun 18, 2008Tarmogoyf posted a message on Finally, a board-relevant rant!I'm also pretty po'ed about the prereleases now. I guess the way to look at it is prereleases are now more friendly to those who would have to drive 3+ hours just to get to one. Luckily, I'm less than 2 hours away from madison AND chicago.Posted in: Random Rants

Jun 5, 2008Tarmogoyf posted a message on Twilight Skies being reformatted to 249 cardsThat was the planPosted in: TarmoBlog
I just finished layering in the template, now I need to cut extra cards before I can keep making more -
Jun 4, 2008Tarmogoyf posted a message on Twilight Skies being reformatted to 249 cardsYeah, but personally I don't trust myself to go back and finish set 1 in a timely manner if I start set 2 right now. I need it as motivation to look forward to for finishing set 1. Also, I want at least 1 set done so I can play with the cards. We're going to make an MWS text file for it.Posted in: TarmoBlog

Jun 4, 2008Tarmogoyf posted a message on Twilight Skies being reformatted to 249 cardsYeah, but like I said, I really, really want to move along to Berserk. I have so many ideas for it that I've bottled up for months.Posted in: TarmoBlog
I also want to start playtesting the set too and maybe hold a block tournament via MWS if I can find 7 more willing people. You're welcome to join(when that time comes) - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
you win this thread... wow......
Instant

Ek Gnar
Instant
Destroy target nonblack creature. It can't be regenerated.
Cycling
Flashblack :symb::symb:
Ek Zyngar
Instant
Search your library for a noncreature card, reveal it and put it into your hand. Shuffle your library.
Cycling
Flashback :symu::symb::symr:
Ek Nelf
Instant
Draw a card.
Transmute :1mana::symu::symu:
Flashback
Mor Qwil :symg::symg:
Instant
~ deals 2 damage to each creature with flying.
Morph - Untap a tapped Forest you control.
Mor Nek :1mana::symu:
Instant
Return target creature to its owner's hand.
Morph
Hah.. Yeah. I'm eager to hear about the riots that I predict to occur tomorrow. (I'm looking at you Texas!)
Honestly, that's how I feel as well. But at this point there isn't really anything to do but be optimistic.
More artifact themed cards:
Aerial Blitz
Instant
Target creature gets +3/+0 and gains first strike until end of turn.
'Simple yet elegant.
Wanderer's Capsule :1mana::symg:
Artifact
:2mana::symg:, :symtap:, Sacrifice ~: Search your library for up to two basic land cards and put them into play. Then shuffle your library.
'Good rampmagix
Pyromancer's Capsule
Artifact
:symr::symr:, :symtap:, Sacrifice ~: ~ deals 2 damage to each creature.
'Anyone got a better idea? And by better idea, I MEAN NOT ANOTHER SEAL OF FIRE VARIANT!
Dravar's Staff
Artifact - Equipment
Equipped creature has ":symb:, :symtap:: Put a death counter on target creature.
At the beginning of your upkeep, destroy all creatures with a death counter on them. They can't be regenerated.
Equip
'hmm..?
Even more later...
Overall I like all the ideas. Some of them are questionable in terms of power level but nice job.
Just a thought for a side project OR Aftermath(undecided):
Farland Sculptor :1mana::symg:
Artifact Creature - Human Druid
:symg::symg:, Sacrifice an artifact: Search your library for an artifact land and put it into play tapped. Shuffle your library.
2/2
Glacial Uprising :2mana::symu::symu:
Enchantment
Artifacts can't use activated abilities or mana abilities.
:symr::symr::symr:: Sacrifice ~. Any player may play this ability.
Dark Contraption :symb::symb::symb:
Artifact
Pay X life, pay X life: Return target creature with a converted mana cost of X from a graveyard to play under you control. Play this ability only once each turn.
Enigma Core
Artifact Land
~ comes into play tapped.
:symtap:: Add or to your mana pool.
Eclectic Catacombs
Artifact Land
~ comes into play with a charge counter on it.
Whenever a creature is put into your graveyard from anywhere, put a charge counter on ~.
:symtap:: Add to your mana pool for each charge counter on ~.
At the beginning of your upkeep, if there are four or more charge counters on ~, sacrifice ~.
Magnetic Pulse
Instant
Artifacts you control gain shroud until end of turn.
More later...
A) I think if it were a real word it would be spelled enigmify.
B) This is going to have another effect to go along with it. Right now I'm toying around with an idea that is suspend-esque that may involve flipping a coin. I'm not sure what the right direction with this card is though.
landtokenmaker :4mana:(:3mana:?)
Artifact(Legend?)
CIP, RFG land you control. (Imprint?)
(:?mana::symtap:: Land token of RFG land.
'Needs name, needs proper wording but what do you think about a card like this? Should it be limited to basics? Nonlegendary lands? Does this use imprint?
Death Vapor :1mana::symu::symb:
Enchantment
At the beginning of each players upkeep, that player sacrifices a creature. If that player controls no creatures, he or she loses 3 life instead.
'Probably overpowered but that can easily be fixed. Critique the idea.
IDEA: A cycle of 5 charms (or 5 in each set = 10 total) that have only 2 abilities rather than 3 but also cycle for a cost? Additional cycle abilities?
EX:
Neo-Esper Charm :symw::symu::symb:
Instant
Choose one - Remove target artifact from the game or counter target creature spell.
Cycling
OR
Neo-Esper Charm :?mana::symw::symu:
Instant
Choose one - Remove target artifact from the game or counter target creature spell.
Cycling
Thoughts?
I don't know where to begin other than inducting you to the hall of stupid and my new sig.
First of all, you have no understanding of the word theory. A theory has been tested but not proven. Nevertheless theory's are still supported by ideas and are much, much more than "just an idea."
Second of all, why are you limiting the ideas of evolution to "left-wing humans". That phrase in itself is pretty ignorant seeing as there are humans from other countries who wouldn't belong to either wing and there are also a large number of Republicans who believe in Evolution.
Third of all, please don't make an argument attacking something on the basis of weak evidence when your side is religion or a higher power. It really makes you look stupid.
Fourth of all, the only reason we haven't observed evolution in humans is that the life span of a human is far too long to witness dozens of generations to see a slight change.
I was going to address your post in its entirety but it's honestly not worth my time. The fact that you were willing to post this quote along without having any actual knowledge of what you were talking about, and the fact that you had to stereotype people while doing it just shows how incredibly ignorant you are.
*Waits for Blinking Spirit to bring up a moot point and vindicate me*
Infraction for flaming.
Just because the graph means nothing to you doesn't mean it's not evidence. All it means is that you aren't smart enough to figure out what it means. Also, I don't remember you asking for an explanation. You asked for evidence, and you got what you asked for.
