yeah that may be true, but some life gain could mess things up. Like I could see green based aggros maining loxodon warhammer because of the high aggro meta, and then preceeding to equip them to troll assetic. Then again, that seems difficult for any aggro deck.
Neat ideas... except I don't think that it's necessary to make another card type(factory). *thinks* (Like Tarmogoyf isn't ridiculous enough as a potential 8/9)
I'm currently having trouble deciding which tribe I would like to play when RAV rotates out of standard and we get Lorwyn. I know I'm not going to play control because it seems inferior to aggro. And for aggro, I've narrowed it down to pretty much these three options. So please post which tribe you think would perform the best and some intelligent reasoning as to why.
So far I've figured out that...
Kithkin:
Pros- 1 mana 2/2, 2 mana 2/2 first strike spirit link, horizon canopy, tarmogoyf and the champion a kithkin is very good.
Cons- Not many options for removal and what not... however oblivion ring seems ridiculous. Mono-white vindicate at common rarity anyone???
Merfolk:
Pros- Lord of atlantis and merrow reejerey seem good with all the other average power/toughness merfolk and you have some good spells options like mana tithe, psionic blast, oblivion ring, etc. Also, R&D absolutely LOVE blue.
EDIT: Also, there seem to be blue green and white green duals available to make this easily possible as a deck that can also just splash for tarmogoyf.
Cons- Merfolk can seem slow\weak for an aggro deck, and there doesn't seem to be a good 1 drop, unless I am missing something.
Goblins:
Pros- Great 1 drops, great removal, it's what you expect from sligh. What more can you say?
Cons- Might run out of gas too easily against decks devoted against beating aggro.
EDIT: On second thought it doesn't seem very easy to splash tarmogoyf in this deck other then painlands. I hate! hate! hate! running gemstone mines and grove of the burnwillows seems aweful for sligh.
Other random possibilities that have come to mind:
-A deck with elves and treefolk? The treefolk harbinger seems techy with Doran but I'm not sure.
-A control deck devoted to beating aggro? This could be a very good metagaming choice.
-Greater Goyf? I agree Tarfire + Tarmogoyf seems ridiculous but when half of standard is devoted to tribal it makes sense to run tribal if you're running aggro. (I swear they named it "tar"fire because of "tar"mogoyf.)
