Hasn't been really discussed, but Teysa Karlov seems like the funnest card to try and build a deck out of.
Nice, so she's back. And this time 4 toughness, I guess she wore some additional armor to be bolt proof. Tempting to build a BW tokens deck with her in it.
Good against decks that don't run any or just a few removal spells, most of the time it activates on turn 3. His slot can be better off with a creature that leaves a body even if it dies like Doomed Traveler.
Now I know the deck is tad bit slow but I designed it in such a way that it has more hate than usual. It shuts down Humans because of Tocatli Honor Guard and most decks don't MB removal, leaving them with Mantis Rider and Noble Hierarch combo, which a Path to Exile can solve.
Control slows down because of Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Thalia, Heretic Cathar. Sweeps get get shut off because Doomed Traveler leaves a body and Matter Reshaper can cheat cards from the deck, and into the battlefield. Since I'm running a deck that only has 3cmc as a top, every permanent I have can be cheated in. The only drawback is Terminus which I am still finding out how to get around it.
For BGx, Hollow One and Bridgevine, Paladin en-Vec and Mirran Crusader are your key cards, including Doomed Traveler, Thalia and Matter Reshaper. The "protection from black" helps hold down Gurmag Angler and Tasigur, and holds down the removal. Game 1 can be grindy but there's less pressure after sideboarding in Rest in Peace and Shalai. Since I am running a mono W list, there's less pressure from Assassin's Trophy because we can get all the Plains we need. There have been a few problems when Leonin Arbiter is on the board because of the tax, then again, if I can't get a land, the opponent can't get a land.
Affinity is where the problem lies, out of all the playtesting with Original Affinity and Hardened Scales Affinity, it's almost an auto Game 1 loss. SB-ing in Stony Silence and Disenchant help out. To a certain extent Settle the Wreckage and Worship also helps as a panic button.
Quick question, is it still viable to replace the usual creature package of the archetype, tax creatures not included, and replace it with more hate and support cards? I had this in mind.
Well one of the best parts of DnT is that you can change out almost anything as it is a meta deck. The questions are always what is the meta and what is good against it. If your local meta is a little slower and has lots of ETB then your list may be good. However I (and I think most of us on the forum) never advocate cutting flicker wisp, it is your best card.
Noted. I used to run BW DandT. I was conflicted on removing Flickerwisp because it loses its value with Tocatli Honor Guard and my LGS runs either Humans or UWx Control. Control I can handle but Humans most of the time is auto lose because of the ETB effects. But let me see if I can find a way for Flickerwisp.

I only won against Tron and Jund but got super dead to Elves and Humans because of how fast they can get creatures down and gets big quick. How are we against Elves and Humans? Any plan for these two decks?
cut honor the pure. It's good if you run 1 toughness 1 drops and brimaz, but otherwise it's not worth a slot. You are pretty heavy on the 3 slot for 22 lands, unless you never plan on sacing edge or ghostquarter. I would cut finks and mindsensor personally but it depends on your meta which 3 drop is worse. In a vacuum it is probably correct to cut mindcensor and crusader. 2 gideon seems like too many. I would run 1 at most. You already have shalai for when you want to raise your curve. I would just try and fit smugglers copter(you will probably have to also add thraben inspector to crew it) and/or mutavalt into the main as your hard to deal with threats. Finally 3 damping sphere seems high. It overlaps with a lot of hate already available. I am personally a fan of selfless spirit, but if your meta has a lot of liliana the last hope, walking balista, etc I can see not running another 1 toughness creature.
Forgot to mention that eldrazi displacer it's that powerful without eldrazi temple. You might want to shave it down to 2 or add temple to the base.
My local meta plays a lot of BGx, Hollow One/Vengevine, Tron, Spirits and Humans. It usually depends on who's available on that certain day. Most of the days that out of 10 players more than half of those would be playing the same mentioned decks. That's why my deck is pretty much convoluted. I usually come in minutes before the start of the first round so I don't have much time restructuring the deck to match the meta of the day.
Hello guys. I'm currently running a Mono-W list. What do you think? Any recommendations? Still new to the Modern format and I'm still testing the waters on the different metas.
I played these two decks recently and it has showed me good results, and will continue to play them until the key pieces rotates out. The first deck is a Jund Gods deck which has won me 2 Game Days, several FNMs and placed 10 in a PPTQ yesterday.
The second deck that I'm playing is an Jund deck with a splash of delirium for value. I've been playing it in MTGO and Xmage for a few weeks now and I think it still needs work.
i've been reading a lot of articles regarding 4-color energy from SCG and CBF, splashing black for Scarab God. is the black splash worth it? i mean it looks nice and all but i want to be assured first before buying Blooming Marsh and Scarab God.
I like play with this deck but i don't now how to sideboard, when you side out the pummeler and pump spell ? against zombie and mono red do you keep pummeler ? when side in glorybringer what side out ?
Frequently post side i have pump spell in my hand but no creature in battelfield and i lose. i suppose my opponent bring more removal spell so i need to side out pump and bring value card like chandra, tireless trackerglorybringer ?
I think everyone just relegated her to not good status, at least in my circles, but seeing her played it can get real crazy. Congrats on the win!
Well I think that Samut doesn't have the proper support cards yet. The only disgusting synergy I got from her was Glorybringer+Samut+Arlinn Kord+Blossoming Defense on hand. A +2/+2 Glorybringer with flying, haste, vigilance and double strike and having a green source up for Blossoming Defense is not something to mess around with :laugh2::laugh2:
Anyone running Samut the tested at all? Her + into a pumped hydra or pummeler is devastating.
I tested her with the Pummeler deck. Her double strike ability is devastating but with the kind of deck Pummeler is, it's only good when creatures have trample on them. She is bonkers though in an RG Energy Monsters deck. I ran it during gameday and won me first place, Glorybringer+Samut walker+Samut creature. Everything at that gameday was different, there were 20 players but everyone came with different decks. Even decks I haven't heard before like Hapatra Scarabs and Hazoret Key.
Anybody notice the BG pummeler deck in the protour? I ran something like it for gameday, and it worked well.
It runs the normal green cards from RG pummeler, and instead of the red cards has Glint-sleeve siphoner and Dreamstealer. The idea is besides making giant pummelers, you can also Larger Than Life on a Dreamstealer and destroy their hand. Then once people see you can threaten discard at any time with a dreamstealer they're going to play out their hand rather than hold back fake tricks. And *that* means you now have free reign to play out your Pummeler and go for the kill.
It's not a snake deck so it doesn't really fit the BG thread. No ballistas, no Rishkar, no Gearhulks.
The Larger than Life+Dreamstealer combo is so disgusting it makes me so happy. Plus you have access to Rush of Vitality for lifelink and indestructible. What more if you'll make the deck Jund for Invigorated Rampage and Uncaged Fury
She also does well with Matter Reshaper and Blade Splicer. Thinking of building a BW deck running her, reshaper, splicer and a couple of Lingering Souls.

Good against decks that don't run any or just a few removal spells, most of the time it activates on turn 3. His slot can be better off with a creature that leaves a body even if it dies like Doomed Traveler.

Spirits and Elves can get grindy but if they don't answer Tocatli Honor Guard, then Settle the Wreckage can't be countered by Spell Queller or you only need to pay a tax of 1cmc from Mausoleum Wanderer. Pithing Needle is key against Elves because you can shut down Ezuri, Renegade Leader and with Tocatli Honor Guard, it won't be destroyed by Reclamation Sage or the new Knight of Autumn
Control slows down because of Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Thalia, Heretic Cathar. As for Tron, Thalia, Ghost Quarter and Leonin Arbiter are your best friends. I can easily get a Game 1 win if I can aggro them out quickly. For Game 2, SB-ing Damping Sphere and Stony Silence are key.
Benalish Marshal, Honor of the Pure and Always Watching are there so that the deck still has that semblance of a stompy deck.
Noted. I used to run BW DandT. I was conflicted on removing Flickerwisp because it loses its value with Tocatli Honor Guard and my LGS runs either Humans or UWx Control.
