I've had this idea on here before, and I believe it's been proposed many times in the past, but I thought it was a good time to show it off again considering the return of Cycling for Amonkhet.
Chorus of the Wild
Sorcery (Common)
Look at the top five cards of your library. You may reveal a creature or a land card from among them and put it into your hand, then put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.
Recycle (Put this card from your graveyard onto the bottom of your library, then draw a card.)
Tideshaper
Creature - Elemental (Uncommon)
Flash
When Tideshaper enters the battlefield, you may tap or untap target permanent.
Recycle (Put this card from your graveyard onto the bottom of your library, then draw a card.)
Whenever you Recycle Tideshaper, you may tap or untap target permanent.
2/2
Recycle aims to do a few things:
- Return cards from your graveyard to your library.
- Promotes more card advantage and the use of the graveyard.
- Avoids exiling in favor of returning cards to the bottom of the library; another "hard to reach" zone.
A few notes on Recycle:
- Recycling costs will usually be a little more than cycling; considering you've already used the spell and getting more from it as opposed to discarding the card for cycling.
- I considered making Recycle only "Sorcery Speed", but I felt it lost a lot of its usefulness. It's still up for debate.

Your review of Nissa has led me to proxy up the card and add it for testing. I'll see if the playgroup ends up liking it. I think my initial reluctance was I saw it more as a large X spell that could randomly pull from my library when initially pumping a large amount of mana into it. Your analysis on it being able to pull defenders has added some food for thought for it at lower mana costs. -

Goodking posted a message on [AKH][CUBE] Samut, Voice of DissentIt sure does look fun. It is reasonably vulnerable for a 5 drop although will nearly always swing once. It is also a nice combat trick, runs offense and defense, and can trade with 6/6 dudes. I like the untap ability and don't think it's irrelevant to the evaluation. I don't think I will run it immediately but if I include Shards in the future I would probably pop this in the Naya slot for a run. I see it being pretty influential. I also wouldn't fault anyone for running it in Gruul since it is perfectly playable there without dedicated access to W.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

Stronger Venser effect // Timetwister that's twice as expensive seems interesting, especially for counterburn / Spells Matter. Probably too narrow, but this is definitely one of the more interesting Aftermath carda -

I for one would like to use this with Drastic Revelation or Behold the Beyond
It's too easy with Wheel of Fortune effects though... -

Ace_Stevo posted a message on [AKH][CUBE] Samut, Voice of DissentI don't buy into the 'dies to removal' assessment of creatures and I think the Flash on this guy will be heaps of fun. Timing your run and perhaps coaxing your opponent (who obviously has a grip full of 1 and 2 mana removal spells) to perhaps tap out for some reason and dropping this EOT into something else seems great.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
Don't know if I will play it myself but think this card is awesome. -

steve_man posted a message on [AKH][CUBE] Samut, Voice of DissentPosted in: Cube Card and Archetype DiscussionQuote from LucidVision »it's a 5 mana card that has no evasion, can't attack through any of the large creatures in cube and loses signifcant mana efficiency to most removal spells.
It's not as bad as it can possibly be as the flash/haste gives it a turn to do damage before sorcery speed removal hits it. But unlike a card like thundermaw hellkite or hell rider etc, all it takes is a single token for that turn to be of negligible value.
maybe you are just nitpicking the definition of drawback.
But "dies to doom blade without value" is such a huge deal for a 5 mana creature , that I label it as drawback.
There's always exceptions to this rule: Baneslayer Angel / Kalonian Hydra come to mind. Samut passes the Vindicate test with flash + haste, and being bolt proof means you essentially need a Plow / Doom Blade variant to deal with Samut at instant speed.

Deranged Hermit / Precursor Golem = 15 damage
Kalonian Hydra = 14 damage
Any other Titan / Wurmcoil Engine = 12 damage
Yeah, the ceiling of this card is hard to ignore. Forcing your opponent to have an instant speed answer will probably work out in your favor more often than not.
Plus there's almost nothing flashing in red if not nothing at all, and the green flash cards are I think for the most part borderline cubeable. The same way Mana Tithe is more valuable in a non-blue deck, a creature like this is probably more effective in a color combination that isn't doing a lot of 5 mana EOT shuh-nay-nays. -

I hope it turns out to be an awesome creature, being useful in multiple boardstates thanks to all the keywords. I can definitely get with that. My comment is just addressing evaluating this card as a Fires archetype enabler... Unless we're talking about other uses akin to the Surrak/Tooth and Nail example I mentioned. In that way I agree it's flexible and can lead to really explosive plays. We've had very successful cheaty decks that included Fires/Sarkhan Vol/Surrak and I can see this guy fitting well there.Quote from steve_man »Quote from hardb0dy »Regarding this being a Fires enabler:
I think the "Fires" effect gets exponentially less valuable the higher the casting cost of the card is. You're simply not getting enough of a return for the investment to be worth it. In our environment, it is essential to get that "Fires" effect online as soon as possible so that your 4's and 5's are coming in with haste. There are definitely other uses mid/late game to the haste effect (ie. Surrak TnN'd in with a fatty) but for the most part you're looking to be setting up on turn 2 or 3 latest so you're getting your damage in before control gets to stabilize (oftentimes just before they're able to stabilize). Getting a hasty Polukranos/Natural Order followed by a hasty Kalonian Hydra/Deranged Hermit on curve is how Fires decks actually win.
I'd agree with you if this also didn't have haste itself alongside being able to deal 6 damage. Having flash is huge upsidenn for a fires effect. Most haste enablers aren't on bodies that can attack themselves. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I'll likely be adding 8 cards from this list.
I also think Aurelia could have gone the extra mile with haste and lifelink, so I'll probably edit it for my cube.

It's really your option of the following:
2 Mana:
Hornet Sting
Mogg Fanatic w/ ability to grow
4 Mana:
Shock
2/2 that deals a min of 2 in it's lifespan with okay growth (as you already have the lands for it)
6 Mana:
Lightning Bolt?
3/3 that deals a min of 3 in it's lifespan with decent growth (as you already have the lands for it and more)
It's all these possibilities in your hand, and makes boardstalls excellent. It seems best suited in reactive decks like control, as it's instant speed growth. A must try imo.
