I've got a couple questions for our resident judges

Q1: How does Deprive work with Isochron Scepter? If it is imprinted do I still return the land?

Q2: How does phyrexian mana (i.g. Dismember) work with Snapcaster Mage? Can I pay life or do I have to pay mana to flashback?

I think I would rather just run linvala, keeper of silence.

but Suppression Field costs 2 and is generally a lot harder to remove, plus its ability works on enchantments and artifacts. That said, Linvala also shuts off mana dorks and gives you a hefty flying body.

I think Field is worth testing because it could randomly shut off decks (does twin run a lot of enchantment hate?)

How much discusion has this thread had on Suppression Field? I want to build a deck around the concept but it seems like this deck is already there. No need to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to.

Definitely forgot about the card and definitely going into my sideboard testing. What would you run it against? Twin and Pod are the first 2 decks that immediately come to mind but is there anything else? and Vials would definitely have to come out of the main deck for these, but that would make a perfect 4/4 SB option against a lot of decks.

I think this really shows the versatility of Metamorph though, got a Pod to search for a key hate piece then turned him into a 4/3 who could return himself if he died and finally flickered him so I could legend rule Melira. There's even the option of just having him return as Flickerwisp and play volleyball with the other one until you find a good card to copy.

You definitely have me intrigued in trying him but I'm still not sold. Not being able to Flash him in is a huge downside and I don't know how good it would be in the starting 60. If you are having trouble with pod I recommend you get your hands on 2 Angel of Jubilation. While it also doesn't have flash it makes all of your guys bigger than their pinger damage, plus it effectively shuts down there tutoring (aside from Chord of Calling of course), and it can come in and replace the generally standard 2-of Restoration Angel.

how has Sundering Growth worked for you? I like the look of the card because it Naturalizes and randomly hands you a golem token here or there it seems. I have an LGS doing a Modern FNM tomorrow so I'm going to spend sometime today trying to build a practice-for-the-PTQs sideboard and I will let you guys know how it goes.

Yea I think we can rejoice over these bannings even if it is only for personal gain. With 2 of our harder matches hamstrung I think this opens up a nice little niche for d+t to fall into.

I went to this movie expecting to get 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep when I was pleasently surprised; The movie was actually pretty damn funny. For those of you who want to see it

Was not expecting the movie to be a bunch of shorts, that made it so much better than trying to tie all of that into a movie. I think my favorite was either the bit about the kids in the machines or the scene where the dude who has been saving his ****
">gets hit by the car and spews everywhere. Call me immature but they made a poop joke funny on the big screen.

Any one else see the movie?

    Ember Beast

It can't attack or block alone but it does not need to double block to block right?

Say my opponent has 2 Vanilla creatures on the board, I have a vanilla and an ember beast. He attacks and I want to block both, can I block Vanilla 1 with my vanilla and vanilla 2 with ember beast?

Redviper: I was thinking the same thing for Stoney silence vs pod. Their deck doesn't have many ways at all to get rid of it. Like a pitching needle naming pod they can't ancient grudge. But vs affinity I think it shuts down their artifact mana as well, which if it is then its quite good against them.

Yea it does but what do you remove for it and in what cases would you not just want to blow something up with Divine Offering? Offering gives them a chance to pod once but it also leaves our vials up and working. I'll have to do some serious testing vs. Pod but as an ex-pod player myself getting a pod blown up can be just as devastating + there's generally an 8 point life swing if they are trying to get it off early (They pay 2 life to cast and 2 life to activate, you gain 4 life from Offering). I saw you made top 8 at a PTQ so you have some real life applications with this deck, any advice and testing for the sideboard?

I'd put weightlifting as the harder because you can quit at any time. The thing I'v always loved about running is that if you lose your will half way through, you still have to turn around and go back.

I'm finding it hard to rationalize sideboarding Jotun Grunt over Rest in Peace. I've tried both, and I have to say 9 times out of 10 I prefer Rest in Peace. I really like Pithing Needle over Phyrexian Revoker, haven't tried Celestial Purge yet, Stony Silence hasn't been applicable yet since I haven't faced against Affinity or the like, and the other two I haven't tried.

I'm gonna try Hero of Bladehold + Angel of Jubilation, Honor of the Pure, a 4th Serra Avenger, and maybe the Jotun Grunts for a more aggro approach. This is under the assumption that I also board in the two or three Torpor Orbs I'll have in my SB, which lets me take out a long list of ETB creatures I have in the MB.

I've been thinking about the 4th Serra Avenger as a SB card but I'm not sure when I'd put it in. I've been playing Stony Silence as a SB vs. Pod not for Affinity (though it still comes) because it doesn't really do much but shut down Cranial Plating. That said I've found the card incredibly underwhelming in many cases and have tossed it in favor of Divine Offering, though I'm not entirely sold on that either.

Celestial Purge has found its way in my sideboard as a staple because it has saved my butt on too many occasions. It can come in for more removal versus Twin, can hit Liliana, one of the biggest problems for the deck, etc.

I actually just fixed this problem this weekend for my fiance. Run a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan - the program is free and should catch the culprit files.

Just used Malware-bytes and AVG, combined the hit 12 trojans that have been sitting on my little brothers computer. Time to clean huh?

Thank you guys for the help, I hope with a less clogged system the computer will run more smooth.

Since we are on the subject of Sideboards, what does everyone run? What would you sleeve up for a PTQ? The only slots I'm really sure of are 3x Rest in Peace and 3x Kataki. War's Wage. I've been playing around with Pithing Needle, Celestial Purge, Stony Silence, Burrenton Forge-Tender, Divine Offering etc. and I can't quite pin down whats working best in the current meta. Has anyone had any success so far?

I've been sleeving mine in Death and Taxes for efficiency. The deck can really prey upon current modern lists with a lot of fetches and non-creature spells.

war and peace is most relevant for matchups like martyr or tokens (and boros), f and i for fae, l and s is not quite as good vs martyr.

re jund: don't. It simply is not worth it, especially with thalia- the sword gets abrupt decayed without connecting and you have lost enough tempo to think about game 2. They have blockers in every colour bar blue- it rarely connects. If it is discarded it makes goyfs bigger more quickly. Rest in peace nails the goyfs and DRS, plus hits half of souls in spirit jund if you want a board card. If you want to nail the jund deck to the floor with a superhoser, you can't really- thats the point of jund.
I run W and P in the board and do not bring them in v jund- they cost me more times than they helped, and I have learnt my lesson. its all build specific of course............

Yea i realized today how bad siding a sword in vs jund is now. Im currently running war and peace as a 2 of sideboard card vs decks like resto tempo and the like to give me the reach that white usually lacks. I dunno if its really worth the spot though, I feel like there are a bunch of better uses for the sideboard
