I run a RWg list and I find myself siding out Rift bolt a lot in match ups. Usually for DRev. Obviously it's matchup dependent, but I still find myself siding them out. It just seems slower? Maybe I'm wrong to do this? Thoughts?

I think the Elvish Champion combo makes sense, but I think it's too cute. Over running with Ezuri seems better than trying to get a very specific two card combo. I'd rather have 4 Ezuri and 4 Lead the Stampede and a couple more visionary over the combo. Why? It's easier to find the creatures you need via CoCo or Lead than it is to draw into the enchantment.

As far as budget Mana base, in the new Ixalan set they are making a light version of Cavern (can't think of the name) that you could run. Along with the Fast lands Blooming Marsh or Razorverge Thicket which are budgetish. And then obviously the pain lands are another budget option.

Quite honestly which ever deck you choose to build they cost pretty much the same... It's just the Mana base that's expensive...

Went 3-1 at a local modern night playing a G/W vizer build.

    Round 1: Affinity
Lost game one on the draw. He did affinity things and I lost. Game two and three I had Kataki out and won pretty easily.

    Round 2: Dredge 1-0
Won game one on the play. Just was too fast for him. Game two darkblasting over and over my Mana dork. Kept drawing lands. Game three turn two Rest in peace. Rip dredge.

    Round 3: B/G Tron 2-0
Game one he had two Oblivion stones and an Ugin... Didn't last long. Game two literally drew 6 lands...

    Round 4: Nahri control 2-1
Game one I did elf things and he cried. Game two I over extend into a wrath and lose bad. Game 3 was a grind. Baited him into wrathing a small board and was able to cast collected company multiple times. To rebuild and win.

When using spoils, would it be beneficial to run phyexian unlife?

Hmmm, that is a very interesting idea. I may try that out!

I believe you need to activate an Ezuri pump first then 2 Devoted druid and one land.

I think that I would cut the path from your board. I think if you were to run it, it would be best if you had at least two. That way if you see one off of a collected company, you have a chance at getting the next one still.

I would agree with the people that say that creatures in the side are better because you can get them off of a company or via chord of calling. I don't agree that you shouldn't run spells in your sideboard, though. Are they less than ideal? Possibly, but I've been in some games where I don't get a chord or a company and have to draw all my answer or start with them. I think running a couple fetches in an abzan variant helps to potentially fix your Mana to help you cast those spells you side in.

You could include 4 Razorverge Thicket, 2 Horizon Canopy, 2 Windswept Heath, 1 Temple Garden, and one colorless utility land (such as Nykthos or Westvale Abbey). Not sure what you have to work with. I personally advocate 4 Canopies as they offer value in the late game, but understand that they are expensive.

I am currently trying out two in the main. I like it so far. I like throne as it doesn't really seem to be a bad top deck either. I will continue trying it out.

Has any one tried Throne of the God-Pharaoh? I have gold fished with it a few times and it seems like a decent turn 2 play as we don't tend to start attacking just tapping creatures for Mana. Obvious down sides are that it isn't a creature, it's legendary and its not an elf. But is it worth it to run a one of? I think I will try it as a one of. However, I will have to switch out my Copperhorn Scouts for Nettle Sentinels again as I feel they would interact better.

Yes, people have lists involving Eldritch Evolution. As with a lot of cards, some people like it while others don't. The argument can be had that we lose another elf to net another, making shaman "less" effective. And if someone where to counter Evolution you are down three mana and an elf. That's not to say that the card is bad. It has positives, which I feel are pretty apparent.

That would depend on a couple things...

Positives: Pain Free land source, chosen creature can't be countered.

Negatives: can't be fetched, only taps for colored mana when casting creatures of the chosen type,

You don't have to run a playset if people aren't playing a lot of counter magic. You certainly could add in fetches in place of them. Personally, I like the pain free aspect of it. I don't run fetches in my list. I run a playset of Horizon Canopy though, which can be painful. But I also run abzan so...

Pretty easy, just cut some Forests from your list and shove in Caverns. You can run fetches, if you want. You will probably want at least 2-3 basic Forests.
