I too fail to see, how BBE and JTMS should be the responsible cards for the current state of Modern. If there‘s a possibility to win harder faster, people will usually find it.
Leave the banlist for obvious design mistakes like Mental Misstep and unban cards that suit the general power level. If WOTC wants to push formats into certain directions, I‘d like them to do so by adding new cards to the format and let the community figure out how to face the threats. But to do so, the community would have to have the proper tools.
Forgive my ignorance, but could anyone enlighten me how Trading Post should be of benefit to us? Is this banking on having the time to go through the whole Post cycle? Shenanigans with Wurmcoil Engine? Shenanigans with Academy Ruins? I don‘t usually find myself in position to freely sacrifice artifacts or creatures, nor do I have the time to go through the first two steps.
On the other hand, Ballista can be played as early as T2 and kill birds, steel overseers, little Thalias, champions and infect stuff in the early game and still be a threat late, whereas Thragtusk either comes down too late or doesn‘t have enough impact. To me, Ballistas wide variety of uses gives it the upper hand in general.
What I mean is Street Wraith doesn't do all those things. There is currently no free card draw spell that is actually a spell. All we have is Wraith, which is a creature. Not an instant or sorcery.
Genini2 indicated, that „free“ carddraw on an instant or sorcery spell would make Delver, Pyromancer, Titi (and Storm) stronger, which WotC probably doesn‘t want. Although Wraith gives more practical options, the free spell is stronger combined with some other cards, whereas Wraith is „just“ an activated ability.
Completely agree on Anticipate, Thirst is plain better - especially with 15 artifacts.
I used to board 2 Summary Dismissal primarily against Eldrazi Tron‘s on-cast triggers. With that deck close to nowhere in my area now, I‘m not running Dismissal anymore. It works against Cavern of Souls too, btw.
Would probably lean towards replacing TKS with Goyf. Combo decks I‘m facing merely rely on their graveyard, which we‘ve covered with mainboard Relics and additional *insertgraveyardhateofchoice* (where I don‘t deem Goyf necessary). I wouldn’t worry about shrinking Goyf if I can hit the GY against Bridgevine and H1 in the right moment.
Couldn’t Goyf be an answer to decks that continuously keep us off Tron or fast aggro that goes under TKS/Thragtusk/OStone? Would that be too narrow?
It‘s been brought up a couple pages ago; has anyone given Tarmogoyf in the sideboard any thoughts?
Instead of stalling with Thought-Knot Seers and Thragtusks, we might as well go on the offense and present an early threat. With people gunning down our Tron lands, shouldn’t there be 3 to 4 card types in graveyards in no time? Bridgevine and Hollow One both help growing Goyf, it‘s an ok blocker against other aggro, and control decks will have yet another problem to care about.
I hope you didn‘t get cheated in the final Jund game: Spring Cleaning works on enchantments but not artifacts.
What are your experiences with Ulamog? Haven‘t been playing any Eldrazi in U Tron since the banning of Eye of Ugin.
It doesn‘t matter when you pump: Mentor triggers either way and checks for a creature with less than 1 (if no pump) or less than 3/5/7/... power (if pump). Banneret cannot have less power than it has when the ability checks.
I don‘t think that works the way you presented:
Mentor says „on target attacking creature with lesser power“.
Even if you pump Banneret beforehand, the ability checks for its actual power (which then would be 3/5/7/...). So - correct me if I‘m wrong - Mentor cannot be used for the creature having the ability. Also, mentoring is supposed to be ‚guiding less experienced individuals‘, meaning weaker creatures in this case.
In my opinion, playing Goblins you should prioritize swarming the board over pumping one little guy. If you reach turn 6+, the situation probably looks dire anyway.
Finally back to ‚The State of Twin in Modern Thread‘ again.
It‘s banned, just in case anyone missed that.
And just to avoid the warning: Modern deck diversity feels good right now and will probably change for the better with the addition of Assassin‘s Trophy, which in turn might justify some long overdue unbans as more unconditional removal is being printed.

Wouldn‘t that be a fair prize to pay?
Please also trade in your Batterskulls, while you’re at it.

It‘s just an idea, feel free to rip it apart.
