How do you guys feel about Desert Cerodon? I cut all of the 2 mana cyclers for the playset as well as an architects of will (I run the SSG version so no land cyclers in the deck)
It seems very strong giving us a higher number of 1 mana cyclers and letting us churn through our deck quicker (I have 19 1 mana cyclers in my deck including street wraith)
Looks sweet, I've been checking out Todd Stevens list during that recent SCG event (can't remember where) and have been considering putting it together.
Honestly I would love a Stoneforge unban, mostly to make other midrange decks that aren't BGx (I'm brewing a sweet Esper Stoneblade deck because sword + lingering souls and creeping tar pit looks fun) and I don't think it would strangle the format.
I also think that Jace is a fine unban because he doesn't go into any tier 1 decks and should be able to bring some lower tier decks into the higher tiers (I think mostly UW Control and Sultai midrange)
Preordain I think is okay, I never played when it was legal so I could be wrong but I don't think it powers up the blue combo decks that already exist that much (storm is an alright deck but I don't think preordain would put it into tier 1 and Cheeri0s only runs 2 serum visions on average anyway and ad nauseam is slow and very consistent anyway)
I have a guess as to the reasoning behind 1) the rumored huge print run of MM17 and 2) all the huge value chase cards spoilered already (Zen fetches, Guide, and Damnation all at rare, and probably Snaps too). I'm guessing Hasbro/WotC is trying to gauge just how much money they can make off of Modern.
The policy for the last X years has been to treat Modern as a supplemental format, while holding to some policies and practices that aren't good for Modern for the sake of Standard. The rationalle being a thriving Modern hurts Standard which hurts the bottom line. But I think/hope they may be starting to wonder whether that practice is 100% the right way to go. The alternative is to cash in on Modern, tying their financial success to the health of both formats instead. Perhaps this is an instance of them sticking their toes into the water.
Or maybe I'm just sitting here in my tinfoil hat. Who knows?
I hope you're right and WoTC starts to push modern a little bit at the sake of standard. Not really sure how they could do this though since modern players are all about singles.
I like the idea of putting random modern playables inside of standard packs. I would definitely buy more packs if I had something to gain from them and people buying more packs right now seems to be what Wizards needs.
Another time I ran Naya Allies that sort of comboed off with Zada, Hedron Grinder and a couple of pump spells and Temur Battle Rage to just surprise kill the opponent.

Lol, I just skipped down the page to report that only to see that you beat me to it.
Maybe wizards does care about modern a little bit.
I literally can't focus in class right now
Anyway I bought all of the ally cards at once just to mess around with so one FNM I played a Bant mill allies deck that won with Halimar Excavator, Jwari Shapeshifter copying Halimar Excavator and the really good white allies along with Aether Vial and Collected Company.

Instant speed Kabira Evangel is fun.
