It'd be a lot easier to make the enchantment the base mode and have the one shot spell effect be a separate activated ability.
Kindling 3RR
Enchantment
You may cast CARDNAME as though it had flash for R. If you do, sacrifice it when it enters the battlefield.
When CARDNAME enters the battlefield or at the beginning of your upkeep, CARDNAME deals 2 damage to any target.

calibretto posted a message on The Official Cube Discussion ThreadYou might find some inspiration with the MTGS Average Peasant Cube I put together last year (and try to do every year). The tags and filters are little wonky on CubeCobra, but you can filter down from only the cards included the the most cubes to the cards included in the least.Posted in: The Cube Forum

you're paying $1,000 for 4 randomized boosters that could be nothing more than 4 laces as your rares. they aren't even tournament legal. its a celebration of community that the community can't even afford to enjoy. it says hey proxies are okay if these are, and once that seed is planted you have to wonder why you're buying product at all.
don't accept this as normal and absolutely do not buy it. not even the singles. -

steve_man posted a message on [VOC][CUBE] Occult EpiphanyThe more I play with Occult Epiphany, the higher I value it. It basically does everything from card filtering / discard outlet / flying over Moat / instant speed win condition / combat trick / graveyard critical mass / etc. IMO this is the probably the strongest mono blue card in my cube that's been printed in the past year or two alongside Hullbreacher. I consider it blue's Pest Infestation that trades in raw value for being instant speed, a better win condition, and contributing to more themes / archetypes.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

steve_man posted a message on [DMU] [CUBE] Cut DownIn my cube this hits 131 out of 194 creature cards. That's pretty comparable to Lightning Bolt, which kills 142 creature cards in my cube.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
You can use this filter on CubeCobra to find out how many creature cards this hits in your cube, thanks @LuckyPaperRadio on Twitter dot com for this tip!

Blue_Oneironaut posted a message on This or That discussion.I may be in the minority here, but I just find these mechanics distort the game in ways that aren't enjoyable. So, I exclude any cards that reference monarch, initiative, or dungeons (or any other such minigame). But I think 'Taking the Initiative' is the superior form of the dungeon mechanics because as you say, there's no choice of dungeon going on to needlessly complicate things.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

My process for building my peasant cube started by extracting commons/uncommons from my regular cube. Unsurprisingly, they pretty much all translate to peasant. Then I self identified some powerhouse uncommons that fell just short of my regular cube list, those also are in most peasant lists. Next, I looked at peasant archetypes from existing lists, identified the key role players for the archetypes I would also want. Next, I used this list to identify my outliers. I identified outliers as the cards I am running which appeared in less than 15 other lists or the cards I'm not running which appeared in 15 or more lists. My last steps are looking at 2022 peasant threads for inclusions from this year that and then filling in a few gaps to complete the list.

What?! Are you seriously suggesting this is the first evidence we have of greed by WOTC? I don't even know where to begin.....
1. Elimination of MSRP
2. Secret Lairs (Related: Claims that they don't recognize the secondary market, but pricing of this product says they very much do)
3. Profit doubling in 1 year
Those are just off the top of my head.
Also, to the extreme few contrarians who are trying to spin this product as a win because it's "a step towards eliminating the reserved list". No it's not. It's a very delicate threading of the needle purposefully designed to allow WOTC to cash in on reserved list demand while also creating enough caveats to make it legally defensible in the event someone would attempt to sue under the doctrine of promissory estoppel. There is nothing to suggest this is a step towards anything but making money.

Name 1WG
Planeswalker (M)
Creatures you control have Renown 1.
+1: Put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature with a +1/+1 counter on it. Gain life equal to the number of +1/+1 counters on that creature.
-2: Create a 2/2 White and Green knight token with first strike and lifelink
-5: Draw cards equal to the power of target renowned creature you control.
(3)

Also, I know a lot of Selesnya PW wishlists would favor a 3CC walker so they can play it turn 2 off of an elf. If this is to be cube focused, I think that is the cost sweet spot.

Zidane Tribal RW
Legendary Planeswalker - Zidane (M)
+1: Zidane Tribal becomes an X/X red and white Human Genome creature with first strike and haste where X is Zidane Tribal’s loyalty until end of turn.
0: Gain control of target artifact or enchantment with a mana value less than or equal to Zidane’s loyalty until Zidane Tribal leaves the battlefield.
-5: Zidane Tribal deals 6 damage to any target and you gain 6 life.

Abilities are meant to reflect the attack, steal, and Dyne abilities. Ash Zealot is a borderline cubeable card so I decided this would be an interesting baseline. The continued on curve growth is also a flavorful way to demonstrate leveling. I leaned a bit on Dack Fayden's abilities to help with the steal ability - Zidane has a lot of tradeoffs with Dack's ability. Zidane impacts the board earlier and can hit enchantments, but its targets are limited by loyalty/mana value and the theft is not permanent. I think the "until Zidane leaves the battlefield" clause also helps justify the effect in white. The last effect is an interpretation of Zidane's ultimate trance ability, grand lethal.
This is an early draft of my design for this character in my custom FFIX set - would you cube this?

The biggest change is I've cooled down quite a bit on Evolved Sleeper. Thinking on exactly what it is that makes Figure of Destiny work so well where this doesn't - part of it is figure's final form is much more likely to close out a game and part of it is the types of decks that play Figure don't appear to suffer as much from investing into it.
Domain's stock has definitely gone up - especially for cubes running the triomes. A single triome cuts domain costs by 3. So a single Triome causes Radha's Firebrand's ability to go off on curve or Leyline Binding to become a Banishing Light with flash. Even if you don't run Triome's any combinations of 2 Dual/Shocks often puts your domain count at 3 or 4 by turn 2. As I don't run the OG dual-lands nor do I run triomes, I'm not sure if these will quite get there for me, but definitely something I think people need to look at their own cubes and evaluate.

Ertai Resurrected 2UB
Legendary Creature — Phyrexian Human Wizard
3/2
Flash
When Ertai Resurrected enters the battlefield, choose up
to one —
• Counter target spell, activated ability, or triggered
ability. Its controller draws a card.
• Destroy another target creature or planeswalker. Its
controller draws a card.
Dimir is not the deepest of guild sections - I think this will make a lot of lists.
