I'm wondering why Ethereal Armor hasn't been mentioned yet, seems like it would be amazing in the Aura Combo deck. Just realized that it's monoblue lol. Could easily add white for Pacifism, O-Ring, and Ethereal Armor.
@hessenbob : Geist of Saint Traft...that about sums it up lol
My local meta started out heavy on GW lists, but slowly more and more players are switching decks. Seems that way on Cockatrice too, I used to pull GW atleast every other match, but it's been atleast a week since I played anyone running it.
In response to the OP, as others have stated: independently strong cards mashed together to form a cohesive unit, while still allowing a lot of customization and player choice, that requires thought and skill to play well, are what make Jund Midrange so popular.
I am pretty sure that 6 5 drops is the most that you want MD. Clearly you want to run 4 Thragtusk.
I am tempted to replace 4CMC Garruk with 5CMC Garruk at this point(currently I have 2 MD Relentless and 1 SB Primal Hunter), but I like having Relentless to battle 2 drops(and sometimes, sadly, 3 drops).
I agree with 6 5-drops being the sweet spot and currently have mine divided:
3 Thragtusk, 2 Thundermaw, 1 Garruk, Primal Hunter(also running 1 Relentless MD). I switched to a 1-1 split on Garruk a few weeks ago and haven't looked back. Had previously been running 2 Relentless MD and 2 Primal Hunter in the board.
I enjoy having the two extra slots in my sideboard and haven't been disappointed to see either Garruk, although occasionally I'll get one and wish it was the other, but both provide decent value. Against control I usually end up flipping Relentless by killing one of my own wolves lol(after attacks of course!)
Needed 1 Mizzium Mortars for my Jund Midrange that I played in FNM tonight, so I decided to buy one pack and see if I could pull something to trade for the Mortars. After making the clerk dig through all the packs in the case I finally told him to stop and give me the pack in his hands. Cracked it and it held a Mortars! Not the best value I've ever pulled from a pack, but I certainly didn't mind.
My answer to Sigarda has been a Vampire Nighthawk or a beefed up Olivia. I run Thundermaw though too, and they seem to love to kill him with Sigarda lol. I'll take that trade all day.
How did Disciple work out? He seems exciting, but also like he could just be pretty blank alot of times.
I see that you didn't play vs. any U/X Control, but it seems like with only 1 MD Sever you would run into some problems G1 vs. Entreat. If Disciple is really good enough to fit the MD, do you think he could be a 2 of instead of a 3 of?
Exactly what I was going to ask, very interested in the answers.
So far I have never been disappointed with Thundermaw, and I usually have enough gas to get my opponent dead. Especially with Garruk tokens running around and whatnot.
Quick questions: You are running 23 lands and 4 farseek, are you ever getting stuck on 3 or 4 lands? I'm just wondering because that often happened to me. Adding that one land really did help.
Does your meta have low amounts of aggro? Just asking because you're running only 2 pillars and 2 rakdos's return main. I'm interested in your testing.
I've rarely had issues with getting stuck on lands or being color screwed. Maybe I'm just getting lucky, but if I ever start to have issues I would cut 1 Sign in Blood for another land.
Yes, there are low amounts of Zombies, W/x Humans, and other aggro decks here. My local meta is mostly control and G/W or Bant Midrange, so the pillar is often ineffective outside the occasional Stranglewood Geist or Mana Dork.
I've been doing pretty well with it so far, my hardest matchup is typically Frites/Seance, basically any reanimator running Angel of Serenity. Much better matchup post board though.
I had been running Bonfire, but decided to try out Mortars and haven't looked back since.
I still run Sign in Blood and so far haven't been disappointed by it. It's $$ vs control, really helps find answers. Vs Aggro it's great to put a few cards in hand once stabilized.
I used to run 1 Thundermaw, but he was so money vs a lot of the decks I play locally that I had to bump it up to 2. This has been the best change I've made to the deck in my opinion.
It is an endless loop unless you have removal that exiles an angel, which jund does not have access to. G/W/x for example get the selsnya charm, oblivion ring etc
Sever the Bloodline takes care of angel in play, and there are plenty of other cards in jund that take care of cards in the graveyard.
It's been testing pretty well against most of the stuff I've played against, but I'm thinking about taking out the Bonfires and putting in Mizzium Mortars. As far as Vampire Nighthawk goes, he's been a stud so far, killing Geists and Sigardas all over the place.
I had been playing a variant of Mostly Black Control, but since switching to test this I have been much happier with the performance.

Sideboard is pretty much based on my local meta.
Any constructive thoughts would be appreciated.

Olivia is really good in control decks, especially with all your mana fixing, you should always have the mana to ping and steal
