the deck is faster than KCI and KCI in its current iteration has literally zero cards against grishoalbrand (no nihil spellbomb like previous versions). just race them. shattering spree is pretty useless vs kci. Lightning axe is about the only real interaction you'll have vs. them and it won't make a big difference a lot of the times.
if we want similar effects, I think we just play slaughter games.
7-4 ain't bad, but it seems like you are going through some variance period. sorry to hear FCG.
You said this is the first time you've lost to humans. how bad do you think that matchup is? I personally think it's definitively bad and I'd expect to be at least 35/65. Maybe I'm doing something wrong
If a land is tapped for two or more mana, it produces C instead of any other type and amount. Each spell a player casts costs 1 more to cast for each other spell that player has cast this turn.
How detrimental does this feel to you guys? Obviously does very little vs the extremely fast hands, but is brutal if we go off later on. Maybe we'll need to run the 3rd Shattering Spree, or maybe some number of Abrade?
Welcome!
My first guess is that it'll be a minor hindrance. It's likely that these will be played by the fair decks that have bad matchups against us anyways, so I'm not too worried about it yet. Just another hate piece like Cage, except it's easier to beat than Cage. We could always just do our things on their End Step and pay a mana or two to cast shoals, and finish in one swift step on our turn.
have been very busy in real life, I think there was some discussion back there that I missed that I'll try to get to on the weekend. In the mean time, I was on a friend's stream who was jamming grishoalbrand and I did some play-along commentary that I can link later for those who wants to follow along.
Yup as Manadeprived said, the first article is up there. I also put together a pretty detailed tournament report. Check it out if you want to read about my weekend..
Thinking back it was a pretty eventful weekend. No real free win (except one Gx Tron). Most wins were hard fought for.
Preview: I beat Jonathan Rosum on Jeskai Control after he resolved a Runed Halo on Griselbrand, Runed Halo on Borborygmos Enraged, and Cliqued my one Worldspine Wurm to the bottom.
thanks guys. Almost got there! that was a tough beat but something I definitely considered, ultimately ruling against bringing in sprees. I have way more thoughts about the tournament, but right now it still feels surreal and I'm taking it all in. May write a report about this in the coming week or so.

There's a pretty active facebook page, so you may want to try that (search for "MTG - Modern Griselbrand Combo Decks")
