The Revoker may be coming out for another Spellskite, but currently I always find something useful for the Revoker. I only side it out against control deck with no swords and no planeswalkers. I take the LD/mana denial route often with this build, and I'll even drop the Revoker naming BOP if they play one -

Both Grasp of Phantoms and Silent Departure have flashback, and I can even return them with Runic Repetition later. I doubt this deck has completely lost its competitiveness just because one card was printed that is good against one of our cards. Dark Confidant may be a house, but its not like the deck is called "Confidant Aggro". It's called "Flow Aggro" and I think this deck should be able to hand itself just fine if someone shoots down our Dark Confidant with a Mogg Fanatic.
Also, there is no excuse not to use Tarmogoyf in this deck. I hate the card myself, and truely wish that R&D would have never came up with it, but they did. So use it. Hell, this is probably one of the best decks for Tarmogoyf. We've got Enchantments, Creatures, Lands, Sorceries, and Instants that will all end up in the graveyard at some point. Whereas most decks that play goyf usually only drop him as a 3/4 or 4/5.
That being said, how does everyone here feel about using Burning-Tree Shaman in this deck (maybe as a 2 or 3 of)? I feel it might help against affinity and BDW.
Why Chalice of the Void? Is there a specific tier 1 deck that it just dominates? I don't see how it fits in with the theme of this deck (which I assume is to slow the opponent's mana base down drastically).
Counterbalance does pose a big problem. I hadn't really considered that deck, but yeah they could lock me out pretty easily.
However, Loxodon Hierarch and Ravenous Baloth wouldn't be as big of a problem because I could always side in 4 Sulfuric Vortex. Pernicious Deed does indeed take out my Ensnaring Bridge, however thats a turn they waste on doing that and not attacking me, and this deck is rather fast so that one turn could be crutial.
I'm not saying this deck has definite Tier 1 potential, but I do think its competitive enough to be considered. I feel it plays similar to Ichorid decks, in that, you'll almost always win game 1, but just about everyone has a sideboard that dominates you.
the only expensive cards are Arcbound Ravager and Blinkmoth Nexus, and those aren't even very costly at all, compared to other competitive extended decks (Rock, Loam, Tog, RDW).

It's surprisingly easy to empty your hand by turn 3-4, and keep it empty with a bridge on the table, effectively negating all aggro with one card. Of course, games 2 and 3 would be harder, because I'm sure they'll side artifact hate.
I haven't really had the time to test this yet, but I'm gonna try to get together with some friends this weekend and test the deck out. I think it might actually become a contender, since no one's really gonna see it coming.
I used to play URW firemane, and now that she's gone I'm trying to find a way to revive that style of deck. I've come up with two lists so far, one is URW and one is UW (both being pretty different, but still snow)

Lightning Angel and Phyrexian Ironfoot both have such great synergy with Ajani Goldmane, I have them (and of course, Ajani himself) as my only win conditions.
The other is a pretty different list, but in the end plays a pretty similar game (lots of early control, never-ending threats, etc)

IMO Crovax, Ascedant Hero is highly underestimated in the format. I understand that most control decks have better finishers than him, but thats because 90% of control decks play black. If black isn't your cup of tee, then Crovax is a perfect answer. He is a virtually unkillable threat, that laughs at elves and goblins. And backed up with some lifegain from Ajani Goldmane, he wins games left and right.

I don't know if I would consider mainboarding Extirpate, but I am on your side. The card is amazing. I've stated before that it's my belief that Mannequin is our worst match-up, and Extirpate does wonders against them. I've since changed my list around a little bit, focused more on beating aggro than beating control, with an anti-control focused sideboard. Here's the new list I have (proxied of course. 1. Nameless inversion doesn't help against Epochrasite. He just comes back in three turns, just as he does from most other removal. He needs to be RFG'd or put into their library (see RiftSweeper). IMHO Mannequin is one of the worst match-ups for this deck and Riftsweeper is an excellent tool for us against them.
2. Not that I would ever play either Tombstalker or Nath of the Gilt-leaf in my deck, but I just have to point out that Tombstalker doesn't really dodge MORE than Nath. The point of Nath is that he dodges Eyeblight's Ending in the mirror, aswell as most other popular Black or Red removal spells.
IMHO, your biggest problem here is that you're playing 4 Wren's Run Vanquishers with only 15 elves maindeck. That seems a little too harsh. I would swap the 4 Shriekmaws and the 4 Eyeblight's Endings (from maindeck to sb). Not just for the fact that its an elf, but because it just takes out more things than Shriekmaw aswell.
In my testing, the worst match-ups for this deck are MBA and Mannequin. Overall, pretty much just recurring Shriekmaw is really hard to deal with. Epochrasite and Riftwing Cloudskate can also be a nuisance. I've found that Riftsweeper in the sideboard is the best choice for dealing with those two threats. This deck is not just the run-of-the-mill aggro deck that a lot of people seem to think it is. It has very decent late game control, and fears many things more than a Wrath of God or Damnation. Although, I would say that this isn't a deck for the budget minded.
I rarely play Thoughtseize on turn 1. Only time I ever play it turn 1 is if I don't get a mana maker. The best play I've found is:
T1:
Play a land. Play Llanowar Elves. Pass the turn.
T2:
Play a land. Use Llanowar Elves and one land to play Wren's Run Vanquisher. Use the other land to play Thoughtseize, removing a ***/DMN, or anything they might use to destroy the affirmentioned Vanquisher. Pass the turn.
and there you have it.

How on earth is Extirpate better than Thoughtseize? They do completely different things. Don't even compare the two...
I agree with you completely. My current list doesn't run any Thoughtseize (because of I can't afford them just yet) but the build I test with on MWS uses 4 of them. In my deck right now I'm playing Augur of Skulls as their substitute, and he actually does quite well. Against control, I wait till turn 3 or 4 to drop him (as by then they're down to only a few key answers in their hand) and against aggro I just use him as a chump blocker/regenerator. But once I purchase 4 Thoughtseize, they will replace him.
In a control heavy meta, I think 3-4 maindeck is absolutely imperative. In a more aggro-heavy meta, I would rather just put more removal in the maindeck, and keep Thoughtseize in the sideboard. Regardless, I agree with you 100%. Thoughtseize is nuts, and definitely belongs in BG Elves.

This list might not even belong in this thread, but there are more elves in the deck than any other creature type, so I'll post it here and you all can tell me what you think. It's a much more aggro-control-ish BG build, but I think it has enough tools to handle aggro and control.
