I'm feeling good about Treasure Map in 5cmc Thune and/or horse/cat builds. For these builds you'd normally want to run 23 lands, but replace three of the lands with Treasure Map. Ignoring the 5cmc cards, you're playing a 20 land Thune-less deck... scry, scry, scry, until the Treasure Map flips into Treasure Cove and boom you have three free mana to slam a Thune/horse/cat. Next turn that additional land you've been looking for to continue playing is out in the form of Treasure Cove. From there on you have excellent tempo with 5 lands out and a deckful of Archangel of Thunes, Regal Caracals and/or Crested Sunmares...
In slower matchups you can see big mana after a few Treasure Maps have been played out. I sided a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth after I got milled in one turn, twice. Haven't seen a mill deck since then, but I kid you not, I hard cast him against BR Curses, twice over two matches! Hah the surprise was palpable when I slammed down Kozy out of a Soul Sisters deck!
I just played a Skred Red deck with multiples of Treasure Map. This card is ridiculous in mono decks! Also, its flipped land Treasure Cove isn't legendary! Forget Legion's Landing, this is the Ixalan card to add in! Of anything, SS needs card draw and/or ramp and/or a mana sink and here are all three !
I'm running 23 lands at the moment, I'll simply cut a plains and slot in a single Legion's Landing.
I want to ask, does nobody run Oketra the True? She seems like a good fit, we have no four drops.
*edit* I feel like she's misunderstood. You sit there looking at her doing nothing, but... playing Grixis DS... the opponent is wasting removal on squadron hawks and spirits so I don't get the three other creatures on board for one... then later I manage to get Oketra the True and Worship out and just sit there taking hits... until turn 13 I pull Archangel of Thune... next turn, his turn 13, he scoops.
Hey guys... I'm pretty new in here... just been playing MTGO since about the start of the year, Duels before that. Been trying out a few archetypes over the past few months and just last week came up against a Soul Sisters deck. Now, I did beat it with my BG Rock deck, but I could see the potential and really digged the flavour of the deck. So, I've bought in and I'm enjoying this deck so much !
Here's my deck on MTGO at the moment. I'm pretty happy with it so far:
So happy to see BG Rock up in lights. I've only been playing MTG(O) for a few months, before that I played Duels on and off for a few years. I Started out with a janky BG GY-based build with Splinterfrights and Nighthowlers and 'Goyfs and such, got smashed because, well obviously, the deck sucked... anyway I moved on to BG Infect... then to BG Rock, which I loved and felt like it was what I wanted to play, but thought wasn't strong enough because I lost most games. Of course, it wasn't the deck that sucked, it was me haha... so I moved around a few decks, Burn, Jund, DS Jund... then came back to BG Rock and I am finally beginning to understand the deck and the game, and am finally feeling confident and seeing wins... anyway... looking forward to heading to my first FNM with a badass BG Rock deck
Hey guys... first post - Played Duels for a few years; got into MTGO just this year with a Dredge deck right after GGT was banned - I was a little naive, then moved to Burn, tried out BGx after that, and now I'm firmly back into Burn as my favourite. Looking forward to my first FNM soon! I'm running a Jund Burn deck, which I know you all think is mad, but it wins.
Anyway, what's everyone think of Soul-scar Mage and Hazoret the Fervent?
I'm really enjoying bringing down 'Goyfs with Soul-scar Mage, and with the Jund deck's lower average CMC thanks to Bump in the Night, Prowess is easy enough to turn on. The lack of haste hasn't been a huge deal.
I've just added Hazoret the Fervent; swapping out Tasigur, the Golden Fang, who is a handy blocker but whose ability I've used a total of once. I feel like Hazoret could be awesome since by the time I have four mana on the table my hand is usually mostly empty anyway; as a top deck he's going to be a killer and more often than not, by the time I'm top decking I'll have four or more mana ready to go. Further to that, if he's alone in my hand waiting for that forth land, it turns a top deck land draw into something awesome!
Out:
4x Aether Vial
4x Inspector Gadget
In:
1x Kataki
3x Stony Silence
2x Sunlance
2x Settle the Wreckage
Hose them.
p.s. I don't run Copter

Chad's a good tip. I overlooked him just because he's not a creature so doesn't interact as such.
Still, Oketra has won me the game every time she's come out and I'm not even exaggerating...

Adanto, the First Fort...?
Hah thanks! When I clicked on that button it just felt like there must be more to it than that... too easy
Here's my deck on MTGO at the moment. I'm pretty happy with it so far:
4x Flagstone of Trokair
4x Ghost Quarter
1x Godless Shrine
4x Marsh Flats
5x Plains
1x Swamp
3x Windbrisk Heights
4x Path to Exile
3x Serra Ascendant
3x Soul Warden
3x Soul's Attendant
4x Adjani's Pridemate
4x Honor of the Pure
3x Auriok Champion
4x Lingering Souls
4x Spectral Procession
3x Ranger of Eos
2x Archangel of Thune
2x Blessed Alliance
1x Celestial Purge
1x Ethersworn Canonist
2x Repel the Abominable
2x Rest in Peace
2x Stony Silence
1x Sundering Growth
1x Anguished Unmaking
1x Worship
1x Wrath of God
What do you guys think?
I'll have this all on paper within the next few weeks, and I'm looking forward to taking it to my first ever FNM!
p.s. how do I format that list into one of those fancy deck tables?
(and if I lose I can't blame the deck!)
Hmm not necessarily. Plenty of games come down to top decking.
