A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

Definitely going to slip 1-2 in for testing. I dont want to go past that right away for fetch/field-able lands. It is an exciting addition to be sure. I could see it turning the corner on grindy matchups against the mirror and similar, ala who can get out of the whole quicker.

First night back at fnm in a while. Went 2-2 (landbase still missing a few Blackcleaves and a few Marsh Flats, but otherwise complete)

    First round
0-2 to a Green Devotion(ish) deck, really just a green value deck. First game I had him on the back foot with some tokens and early removal but he was able to flash in some Wolfir Avengers for the next turn kills. Game two I fizzled on two lands early after casting a few discard spells. Felt bad man...
    Second Round
2-1 Jeskai Control. First game went well with pretty fun interaction on both sides. Second Game I mulled to 5 before finding a single land, and then no more... Third game I got a Kambal on board two or three times (getting him back twice I think with K-command). Grinded it out with him and some tokens. Good games, luckily against a really good friend who caught my miscalculation in life totals and let me know I had lethal before I thought I would.
    Third Round
2-0 Red Green "haste". Just a fast "haste" keyword deck. First game I shot down some dudes and clocked him with tokens. Second Game probably had the best Thoughtseize of the night, going down to 1 life to get the bolt in his hand and praying he didnt top deck another.
    Fourth Round
0-2 Burn. Still my hardest match up so far. Both games pretty close I'd say, but Eidolon locked me out of game one. Game two I sided in 2x Collective Brutality for a full playset and 2x Kambals. Never saw them, repeat of game one basically. Ah well...

I did, I just didn't see him in time or if I did they had lethal regardless of his drain. He is one of my weaker sideboard pieces I feel like though I'd like to give it a few more chances.

So I was experimenting with Dragon's Clawin the board as a two of for Burn. I figured between them and my own red spells it would be deece but after testing yesterday it just didn't perform as well as I'd hope. With that in mind what tech do we have for burn besides Collective Brutality? Or is this just one of those match ups we accept as an uphill battle?

    My current sideboard is
    2x Dragon's Claw
    1x Blood Moon
    2x Molten Rain
    1x Dreadbore
    2x Surgical Extraction
    2x Kambal, Consul of Allocation
    1x Anger of the Gods
    2x Wear//Tear
    2x Collective Brutality

Thinking another Blood Moon for the tron, human, and others. Leaves one slot left. I could add a third Collective Brutality for a full playset in the 75. Not sure. Any thoughts? I see a lot of Nihil Spellbombs running around but haven't had that come up in my area as a need.

Still struggling against Eldrazi Tron decks. Faced a budget and non budget version of it this past friday and both clocked me (even with Blood Moons and Molten Rains). My other loss was Scapeshift and fourth round I got the bye so went home. I am not doing well with the deck.

Yeah my only win this past friday was against Affinity. Lingering Souls shored up the defenses once we took out the early threats with bolts/pushes. K.Command is awesome here as well.

My two losses were to Eldrazi Tron (Too fast first game, still managed to hardcast an Ulamog second game under a blood moon. RIP Me right?)and the other was Scapeshift which did not give a single care about my game plan and just dumpstered me both games.

Yeah, I'm going to run a 2/1 terminate/dreadbore with the second Dreadbore in the board and see how that goes

Well, that was one of the most boring finals of MTG to watch, but very cool to see the deck make it that far.

I will experiment with him as a 1-2 of for now and let you all know. Just thought he was neat and I've always liked the idea of a R/B 8rack with Blighting, K-command, etc.

I actually didnt know about morph and Animar, that's really awesome. Cryptolith Rite is one of my favorite cards recently

General's Kabuto works like a 3rd pair of boots and also means you can keep swinging without fear of losing him in combat. He gets blocked? Afflict!

I like this a lot. Werewolves are my favorite tribe and I've danced around playing them in EDH.

Would Mirage Mirror be a good addition to 8rack?

Copy The Rack or Shrieking Affliction in their untap step.
Or copy their biggest creature (Tarmogoyf) to have a sizable blocker?

    I like your style

Just reporting in, I got a Torment of Hailfirekill last night and had it do some decent work in two separate games. I know giving the opponent choices isn't really ideal, but sometimes you just win either way with it which is nice.
