we've found the 4th point of toughness to be incredible important in those type of decks
This is a good point, this card does fail the bolt test, and isn't a good blocker either.
Rahda was originally included because there are no other creatures with "you may play lands from the top of your library." in the cube, Courser of Kruphix and Augur of Autumn are above the budget restriction. That being said, I think you guys are correct, and I'm leaning on cutting Rahda now, even if it means Gruul will have two walkers.
Great card on it's own, and has a build around that benefits decks that are lower to the ground. Slots into multiple decks, making it a slam dunk cube inclusion.
It feels wrong cutting Sorin, but it's either that or Vindicate. So long, Sorin.
the closest thing we get to a cubeable combat trick
Preach. Combat tricks are a staple of traditional limited sets, and the fact that we don't have a single cubeable one bothers me. Unfortunately, I don't think this card even comes close to cutting it. If only the mana cost was much lower. Something like 4R and Equip 2 would have made me want to test it, but alas this is just too expensive.
I completely forgot that if this card shows up in a 2 land hand you literally can't play the land at all/risk a non-game. That combined with the fact that the decks that want that sort of fixing can only utilize the card properly given you have fourth land on hand for turn 4. Some games you don't even get to land #4. And ONTOP of all that, it comes into play tapped.
This card is awful for cube after thinking about it for more than 30 seconds. Feel free to prune the thread, this card doesn't warrant discussion. I would have deleted it myself but I lack the ability to do so.
Fixes for any color, comes into play tapped turn 3, and puts two lands in the bin for land recursion strategies. Is this worth running with Wildfire and Armageddon type effects running around?
Having only one land turn 3 tap for a singular color might be an issue, but it at least makes Cryptic Command all that easier to cast!
Just kidding this card is terrible. Mods, please delete this thread. Draft chaffe shouldn't take up a thread slot in the new card discussion forum.
I'm curious to see if this gets there on power level alone, but personally I'm passing on this simply due to the fact it's uninteresting gameplay and synergy-wise, it has no interesting deck building applications outside being a discard outlet, which black has plenty of already.
If I didn't run proxies, I'd be doing the same thing. It's pretty much a necessity for those that refuse to use proxies, who didn't get them when they were cheap aeons ago.
I don't think this cuts it in Peasant cube, unfortunately. Seems like more of a narrow constructed card aimed and reanimating single, high mana cost, low power creatures.
Oh man. Just awhile back I was talking about breaking singleton rule for a colorless 2/1. But a 2/2? Hot damn. I'm considering putting in 4-5 of this to support aggro in all colors.
Assuming snow lands aren't too expensive, I'll be changing my basics into snow basics.

Maybe some day.

My first thought when I saw this, this is an easy 360 inclusion for peasant cube. The perfect signpost for one of my favorite archetypes.
I don't think it's good enough for traditional all star cubes, but I'd be interested in trying this over Brago if I needed a UW Blink signpost card.
It would be a much more fair card if it didn't force a discard. That or if the card had wither. That would have been sick.
