I would like either Norse, Aztec/Mayan, pirates or space world. But it is true that it's been a while since they had a traditional D&D type world.

On a side note, it would be nice a return to Kamigawa done right and a Zendikar without spaghetti abominations

    Space world would flop IMO

Amazon/Jungle/Rainforest/Aztec type theme. This theme can work really well with Green, Blue, and Black.

Yeah... eBay was great way back when. I bought my 5 duals (should have shot for full play sets but I was an idiot), Antiquities, and a number of other cards from eBay. All of that was before places like TCGPlayer even existed. So...

I think the very last thing I bought was a box of Havik: The Bothering. Like anyone is going to fake thise.
Wow, I've not heard of that before. That's easily the worst looking card game I've seen in my life. Maybe the worst looking thing I've seen in my life. Yeesh.

I would like to own some of those cards for the historical sake of things. Mostly because they got legally screwed (I dont know why they think they wouldn't?) by WoTC and it was hilariously close to being a copyright or patent infringement.

I buy and sell rare milsurp gear and I have never ever sold anything on eBay. It seems to complex (EDIT: by this I mean more work for less pay due to fees, even if your product is exposed to a larger market, I am not saying it is too complicated for me to handle). But I have noticed lots of scammers and crappy people on eBay, I try not to spend a lot of money there. I do not like buying stuff unseen from people I do not know. Magic Cards seem to be the biggest gamble. I mean who doesnt want to take the time to price check the lot of cards they bought at a yard sale? How many of those lots are unsearched, and how many may actually contain an actual gem? Most of the sellers of full of crap, unless they are telling you exactly what you are getting.

I will definitely keep you updated Smile for me it is just a bit of fun. The last thing I need is more commons and uncommons but I know thats probably what I will get.

"I doubt sleeving takes nerd points away. I sleeve cards all the time and rarely unsleeve (the inner sleeves) them when I rebuild my decks. About 2/3 of my collection sits in either inner or penny sleeves regardless of the value of the individual card." I think my point was that the seller knew what he was doing, sleeved up a bunch of commons, said "Gee I dont know anything about these bought them from some nerd, they might be rare I dont know" and people paid 40 dollars for a stack of 150-200 commons. The seller knew what he was doing, people thought there may be some good stuff, and they got hosed. I make it a point not to spend more than 25 bucks an a lot of unknown cards. I guess it is no different than buying a booster pack.... Smile

I need to start going to more yard sales.

Moral of the story I think people on eBay are playing dumb to rip people off into thinking they are buying a potential gold mine (like what I bought, only I have realistic expectations).

I would really like to hear feedback from people who buy repacks. If you look at the feedback the repack vendors are selling there is a lot of hate. Basically it is a bunch of people who are butthurt that they did not get a black lotus in their repack "This is B.S. all I got was junk/trash rares"...which should be expected when buying that type of thing. I wonder how many repacks actually have that dual land or mox?

I did see one that had two feedbacks saying "Ohhh I got this awesome card ::insert car name:: both feedbacks were a few months apart, and the name started and ended with the same letter. Could be a coincidence but I wonder if he sold some to a friend so the friend could leave bogus feedback to entice buyers....

Maybe I am paranoid, or cynical, not trusting, or just a realist.

Sometimes it is tempting if they are cheap enough. I saw one that I definitely think was stolen so I stayed away. I bought one of the "got from a yard sale" and another cheap "got from estate sale" one is less than 100 cards (the ones shown are all mid 90s), the other is like 500.

I will report on what was in them when I get them.

these were both from people who looked like they buy junk at yard sales and resell them, and they did not have any other MTG stuff for sale. Their other items were all yard sale junk.

We will see how many Black Lotus' and Mox's I get Wink

I have spent a lot of time looking at Magic cards on eBay. Here is what I have noticed. There are a lot of place selling magic cards saying "Got them from an estate sale/yard sale/relative/etc. and I dont know anything about them/havent gone through them"

How many times do you think that is true? With the internet what it is now, you can type in a card and get its value. Even if you know nothing to do with MTG cards it is easy. And if people hunt yard sales and estate sells to resell on eBay, are they really the type of people who do not confirm value before selling?

I saw one auction, it was a bunch of cards, all in sleeves. The guy said he bought it from the neighbor, it was her son's cards and he went off to college. Then he said that the lady came over to his house and tried to buy them back after she sold them to him. So basically he gave this cute little story for lots of ~100 cards all in sleeves, face down. They were actually going for good money. Then I read the feedback. 1 Positive feedback (The only feedback) "Tell your friend his nerd card is revoked for putting all commons in sleeves". That was a clear signal for me to stay away. I am pretty sure the seller know they had nothing of value.

I am sure this happens all the time, people say "I dont know anything about these cards" when in reality they sifted thru and value checked everything and are just selling all the junk. Has anyone had any good luck on eBay with auctions like this?

Also, are repacks legitimate? Does anyone have any experience with repacks online? Especially the ones saying you have a chance of some wild card like any of the power 9, dual lands, etc.

Just wondering what peoples experiences are with ebay. Many years ago (Onslaught was released) is when I got into MTG. When I got into it I bought a bulk collection of ebay (just a couple thousand cards) just to bolster my collection. Back then it was a good idea, but I am not sure it is nowadays.

Nope. I do not worry about it because I do not see WoTC killing MTG. If anything they are going to innovate and find new ways to get more people into the game. I only see it getting bigger in the future. BUT, if they did stop printing MTG cards, I would not sell mine. I do not have tons of expensive cards or anything, I would rather keep them for myself to play. Even if the cards stop printing, people will still play.
