i previously had 3 think twice in here... i tried it without it and didn't miss it. the lack of draw doesn't hurt too much (i will admit it hurts a lil) but the ca caused by damnation, mystical and soot are enouph to beat any deck hands down.. ive been testing all day against different deck types (to remake a sb). the cipt lands are kindof annoying but i play enouph lands that it doesn't make a difference. ive never had a problem with not enouph mana and a top decking cipt land.

looking at ur deck it seems that ur well... too slow. the trike is no longer a viable option imo cause it pretty much gives ur oponent a free turn of doing w/e they want. in a teachings deck u can't run 6 cards that pretty much take up ur turn (besides against mirror) that are creatures. sure ur win conditions are trike and aeon and ts but they all require too much mana or too late game to be as powerful. when ur sitting with any 1 of these cards ur options are automatically limited because ur down 1 card. u need to win when u have full control or else u won't win at all. i used to run a traditional teachings deck (more or less) and i felt like my mu's where scewed too "gee do i have a great hand??? if i don't i won't win cause my reaction can't solve everything and my threats are too slow. i morphed the deck completely (added red as a major color) and made it more so that the threats had 2 uses... i run 3 draining whelks main and that is my main game winner cause it can counter a 3cc or 4cc and run to the finish. a 2cc should be taken care of with ur other cards. i run strangling soot at a 3 spot cause the only cards it doesn't take away are cards taht the whelk want or can be taken down in combo. i run quite a few cards md that are ss so that the counter/control decks can't oppose me when i want to kill guile or w/e else (sudden death + strangling soot= lawl). i tend to run almost all instant speed stuff in my deck so it can be played at optimal time and can be sought after with teachings. ill compose my list and post it in a couple mins

there is my deck... im still looking for help w/ it. i believe that it is better against aggro and about the same against control if not a lil better cause whelk mb. the sb help the control mu a lot. this deck requires A LOT of playtesting (way more than any other deck ive used) cause the options are numerous and the deck plays a lil weird.

i like take possession but it has to be played on ur turn which is something that i don't like having to do unless the opponent wont have anything to beat on me with next turn

imo the rock matchup is fairly easy (with my build; so off the wall it could be a dif deck) but the only prob we have is the troll... and a 2 for 1 damnation solves that fairly quickly... as long as we counter the HUGE threats we should be fine taking care of the rest

when i see chandra i think... k in a COUPLE turns i will need to make sure and damage her...
when i see liliana i think damn... what is she going to get before i kill it immidiatley???
that discarding is horrendous but can be played around...
when i see ajani i start setting up a way to block or remove token
when i see garruk i go "well damn now i get to play the catch up game and hope he makes too many tokens so i can kill it
when i see jace i go "well he gots ca over me, i hope my cards are better than his" lol

i pretty much aggree w/ rocinate...
garruk is first; 3/3's and more mana is good in g/x aggro nomatter what anyone tells u and the overrun ability is just ur finisher and a great one at that
jace second; can u say CARD ADVANTAGE
ajani tied for third; +2 life is sub par but teh pumpage is great in aggro and the avatar is all right in control... namely cause it can be blocked by anything
vess tied for third; vess is a good card in mbc cause she gets ur damnation and starts the discarding process. if i ran mbc i would run her and the korlash for my win conditions cause thats exactly what she is... (she would be sideboard against aggro) against control she is sub par cause of the permission spells that she can't REALLY stop (think about it... hmmm. discard a land or counterspell hmmmm.. i think i will choose the excess land)
chandra; ive played against her and playtested her, her abilities are all sub par cause the first one does nothing the second is all right but to undefined and the third people can play around, people are smart... they look at 10 damage to them and all of their creatures and go ????!!!!! damn i don't want that to happen i think i will occasionaly hit that thing or kill the owner before im dead; in short i don't think she is good at all (constructed play not limited) if i see her i would prolly just try and trade her for another crap rare that is more useful.. thats just me however

k, maybe my thinking is a lil off cause im thinking of my deck; i run a lot of non counterable stuff and i don't run cryptic commands as my counter. ima try to look at the whole in future but i still believe w/ smart playing we can beat muc most of the time

i would ditch trike and ruins

use one or the other between rune snag or remove soul

take out the think twices for more careful considerations and add in some cancels/ fairie trickery

add in some more spot removal...

    so all in all

    -3 think twice
    -1 trike
    -1 ruins
    -4 rune snag
    -1 tolaria west
    +3 careful considerations
    +2 cancel
    +2 tendrils
    +1 swamp
    +1 urborg

ive been looking at the top 8s of states... every deck there that is like in the top 3 are well... faster than most teachings decks; a lot of ppl like to whine about the slowness of teachings and that it has to morph into relic teachings and /or add finkels and the likes but really the card choices a player makes seem to hinder him more than anything... like i saw a couple decks that ran a list of 3 aeon chroniclers 3 teferi's a tombstalker and a trike plus and the'd get like 8th or so... its playing spells like haunting himn and eyeblights ending TOGETHER that cause ur deck to be clunky and lose to aggro and midgame... (teachings should always win control... we run more ca and have availability to better threats {against like sonic as example})

if ur deck averages out high like the example cards above with ur counters and removal sittin at 2-4 (plus the uuu in cc) then ur deck is gonna be slower and have less success against other decks.

here is my teachings deck. it is a lil quirky and not a "net deck" or traditional teachings deck. i built it when i saw the card at pre and it has gone from there.

    underground river
    tolaria west
    urborg, tomb of yawgmoth
    vivid creek
    vivid marsh
    2 vivid crag
    2 frost marsh
    3 terramorphic expanse
    2 urza's factory
    3 mountain
    4 island
    3 swamp

    COUNTERS...
    3 cancel
    2 fairie trickery
    2 remove soul
