I'd be totally fine with this being true.
Is it possible that The Raven Man's identity won't be revealed until Belzenlok is dead?

Aug 25, 2017Etherium Sage posted a message on Magic Story: Alara to AmonkhetPosted in: ArticlesQuote from Jay13x »I hope so to. My thinking is that in the wake of his internal epiphany while fighting Bolas, Gideon will start using his hieromancy again. Jace seems primed to make a switch to a much greater use of illusion magic. Chandra I hope discovers new uses of her power - learning to cast something like The Purifying Fire would be an awesome use of her abilities.
Gideon actually using hieromancy would be great. This might be something weird to say, but it might even also pave the way for a Gideon card without the signature "turn-into-a-creature" ability, as he'll focus more on tactics and suppression magic than throwing himself into the thick of things. This would, in turn, broaden the design space for him.
Jace's Ixalan card does suggest that his Illusion magic will be more prominent, but we'll see. I still think that his lost memories of Vryn are the biggest obstacle to his potential, as he basically lost his experiences training under Alhammaret. -

As you said, Chandra's raw flames won't always cut it, which Bolas demonstrated; we know that she can create elementals and phoenixes, as well as use Ghostfire, yes we never saw any of that in her fight against Bolas. Nissa's leyline magic has untold potential, which can be a double-edged sword since it might make her too OP in the story.Posted in: Articles
A number of people think that Bolas is gunning for Dominaria, so it'd be interesting to see what goes on with that. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
On a serious note, nice to see more exile-draw (especially with how cheap it is here), though having to sac a creature makes me wary about it.
Nissa and Vivien are extremely different mechanically. Nissa has never been creature-focused in the way Garruk or Vivien has been. Nissa's first card was strictly Elf-focused, and every card she's gotten after that has been land and elemental focused. Vivien cares about creatures overall, and none of Vivien's cards have shown any care for lands.
Also Jaya pre-dated Chandra. It's actually more accurate to say that Chandra feels like young-Jaya.
I'm guessing it's supposed to represent making herself vulnerable by getting in close to do damage, or something like that.
Also, in this art, Palladia's armour looks very similar to Bolas's.
Having an enchantress effect in Standard is interesting, especially with the Sagas and all.
Scapeshift getting a reprint is neat, but what practical applications would it have in Standard (except drawing a lot of cards with Tatyova)?
What he's probably trying to say is that Ugin might be a DFC in this set, because he's an Elder Dragon planeswalker who's Bolas's twin.
A lot of people would be unhappy if that turns out to be the case.
It's "Vryn", not "Vyrn".
Maybe Karn wants something on Vryn to help him destroy New Phyrexia, but since Vryn is all about them mage-rings, whatever he's doing there might be linked to whoever or whatever created the rings in the first place.

Birth of Wisdom costs 1 less to cast for each enchantment you control.
Search your library for an enchantment card with converted mana cost X or less, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.

Ral is predictable, but I hope he gets a decent card.
The impression I got was that he either owns a store or works for one, hence this weird outlook he has with sets.
Interesting. I guess that explains why you were so hard on Dominaria.
Sell to whom? It's geared towards newer players.
Zirilan is a Viashino, which is the lizard in front of the dragon in the art, not a Dragon.
