What's better than one Goblin Dark-Dwellers? Seven of them.

On a serious note, nice to see more exile-draw (especially with how cheap it is here), though having to sac a creature makes me wary about it.

I think you guys that have a tone of disagreement, are still sort of agreeing in your explanation. I hear a lot of "Well, kind of like Nissa but more like Gurruk because she leans a little more on creatures than most previous versions of Nissa." If Gurruk is THE green male planeswalker and Nissa is THE female green planeswalker, then Vivien very clearly fits the statement "Let's make Nissa a little more masculine, give her a bow, and a new name. Voila! New planeswalker."

But even beyond mechanics, Vivien just isn't very interesting from a flavor perspective. Artistically, I look at her and see "generic female ranger." There is a lot more design space to be harvested. Ajani, Gidien, and Elspeth are all mono-white and feel like different interesting characters. Same with Jace, Tezzeret, Tamiyo, and Teferi. So on and so forth. Other than Jaya feeling like old-Chandra, most planewalkers seem like interesting individuals. Vivien just strikes me as uninspired.

I didn't realize until after I reread my post, but Vivien made me want Nissa back. Maybe that was wizards real goal.

To the poster above mentioning that Wizards never said they would kill the gatewatch, I was being more metaphorical. They said something to the effect of stepping away from them.

Nissa and Vivien are extremely different mechanically. Nissa has never been creature-focused in the way Garruk or Vivien has been. Nissa's first card was strictly Elf-focused, and every card she's gotten after that has been land and elemental focused. Vivien cares about creatures overall, and none of Vivien's cards have shown any care for lands.

Also Jaya pre-dated Chandra. It's actually more accurate to say that Chandra feels like young-Jaya.

So Palladia Mors loses Hexproof until the end of your turn and then gains it again? She can block but then loses Hexproof? Weird design space.

I'm guessing it's supposed to represent making herself vulnerable by getting in close to do damage, or something like that.

Also, in this art, Palladia's armour looks very similar to Bolas's.

The satyr being an "enchantress" also gives me hope that Theros, whenever it comes around again, will be much more enchantment-focused than before.

Well, now we know what the "Bolas" satyr is, so Theros can probably breathe a sigh of relief.

Having an enchantress effect in Standard is interesting, especially with the Sagas and all.

Scapeshift getting a reprint is neat, but what practical applications would it have in Standard (except drawing a lot of cards with Tatyova)?

Does this mean that M19 has more DFCs? Or would they actually do one single DFC in a set?

In all coresets Ajani is in he is number 01. Here he is 03, that means we could get up to 2 colorless cards Wink
DFC = double faced cards, like Bolas.

Colorless slot, Ugin is the twin of Nicol Bolas....
... do you actually not see that both your replies have absolutely no relation to my posts? I´m asking about the likelyhood of more double faced cards, figuring that since they are using the print technology in the set, they might want to jam some more of them in there... and you´re answering it with something about colorless cards, card numbers before Ajani and the relationship lore of Bolas/Ugin. Am I missing something?

What he's probably trying to say is that Ugin might be a DFC in this set, because he's an Elder Dragon planeswalker who's Bolas's twin.

So is that Gorgon foreshadowing on what Lili is going to do to Vraska?

A lot of people would be unhappy if that turns out to be the case.

That is definitely new Teferi and Karn art. Teferi cause he looks like the new version with no or less gray hair hard to tell and he has got his hands crossed. Karn also looks like the latest version and he is puffing his chest out. Karn seems to be on Vyrn which is weird cause he only really seems to be helping on Ravnica cause Teferi and Jhoira asked him to. Unless there is a weapon on Vyrn he wants to access. Also I hope we don't go to Vyrn right after Ravnica...I need a break from the Jace Focus unless Ravnica surprises me and spreads the love.

    It's "Vryn", not "Vyrn".

Maybe Karn wants something on Vryn to help him destroy New Phyrexia, but since Vryn is all about them mage-rings, whatever he's doing there might be linked to whoever or whatever created the rings in the first place.

I've had my complaints about Vivien as a card, but your complaint just sounds like you want to find something to complain about. Even if she's a Nissa replacement, Wizards never said they'd kill off the Gatewatch, but that we'd see less of them in sets. Also she's not a Nissa knockoff by any stretch, because Nissa deals with lands and elementals, not strictly creatures. Vivien is more Garruk 2.0 from a mechanical point of view.

Birth of Wisdom costs 1 less to cast for each enchantment you control.
Search your library for an enchantment card with converted mana cost X or less, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.

Vryn hype! I wonder what business Karn has there.

Ral is predictable, but I hope he gets a decent card.

More garbage, this set is going to be tough to sell.

Yeah, dragons are always hard to sell and no one ever buys them.

yeah people buy them alright, we're happy to get 50 cent in the eu for mythic ones if we're lucky.

If all you are looking for is monetary value from your cards then I don't know what to tell you.

The impression I got was that he either owns a store or works for one, hence this weird outlook he has with sets.

Sell to whom? It's geared towards newer players.

well, you know, customers, people who buy packs and singles from us, the stores who crack packs.

Interesting. I guess that explains why you were so hard on Dominaria.

    Guys... this is a milestone.

In spite of dragons being largely red, we have never had a good mono red dragon legend for EDH.

Seriously, all we have had so far is a vaishino, ryusei (who won't trigger if returning to the command zone), and The Bladewing family

    What?

Zirilan is a Viashino, which is the lizard in front of the dragon in the art, not a Dragon.
