I see Tamiyo's fully recovered from her Emrakul trauma and ready to take on Bolas.

    - A new female planeswalker that is holding a torch and a vaguely Ixalan-esque relic (it looks to me like The Immortal Sun almost?)

It's Elspeth, not a new walker, and the torch looks like the one Xenagos had.

So how likely is it that Bolas and Ugin are two halves of what was supposed to be a single dragon? That would explain why they're smaller than usual, weren't born with full names, and their personalities are so radically different, right?

If so, is it possible that they could "fuse" Dragonball Z Piccolo and Kami-style later on in the overarching plot?

Two dragons of opposing moral alignments being two halves of a single entity, and being involved in a fusion plot in the sequel? Someone must have played the Gen 5 Pokemon games recently :p

But I'm serious though. This story has given me the idea that a Nicol Ugin character might actually form from the twins in the future.

since i already got a dragon edh i was super excited when i saw the 3/5 flyer with vigilance for 3 mana (due to the commander) with alot of text... hell, this must be a good card
    than i read the next

    never felt so sober Frown
    so disappointing.

printing such a card in 2018 ... as if defender has any meaning in magic nowadays

Defender "doesn't have any meaning" because defending is usually all they do.

Arcades turns all of those normally harmless cheaply-costed walls into massive beatsticks, and gives you card advantage for putting them on board.

Doran let you flip the script with high toughness creatures, but he doesn't disable defender, which locks out a lot of high-toughness creatures without something like Assault Formation. Arcades actually addresses that.

I think Ugin is likely to start Jeskai, and then flip colorless. I could see them sharing draconic red, thoughtful strategizing blue, and then opposites with white and black. Ugin's seeming sense of order could be white, and he is on the white side of blue more than the red side. Also, Arcades card just spoiled, and he's Bant. Doubt they'll double up on Bant. And all the elder dragons thus far have been tricolor. What if what's-his-face and his cronies are Tarkir tricolors? Was that Asmadi who was doing his own thing? But Asmadi had a card that wasn't Tarkir colors.

Either way, my sense is Ugin will be Jeskai to make a good/evil dichotomy with white and black the only things separating Ugin and Bolas.

Just because Arcades is Bant doesn't mean Ugin couldn't be, especially because this connection he has with Bolas seems to go even deeper than we realized. Also I don't know where you were going with Asmadi, because you seemed to get confused there.

    Random thought.

Does Arcades Sabboth remind you of anyone else Ugin knows? Just hops in on a city, tells everyone "I'm in charge here", and starts making up the laws and rules in the name of order?

We don't know the back story of how Arcades joined the human camp, so it's too early to assume that he's like Azor. Arcades has traits of green which values life and nature.

Agreed, Arcades' role in the human city seems more like a symbiotic arrangement (as befitting a White/Green character) than a top-down system of controlling people "for their own good." He provides them with leadership, guidance, and physical protection. I don't get the sense that he's trying to set up a rigid system of rules to micromanage people's lives, just advising them on the broad strokes of how to improve themselves and their society. For instance, he seemed perfectly willing to let the magistrates deal with the murder on their own terms.

If anything, he reminds me of Dromoka, without her xenophobic intolerance for different ways of life or her imperialistic desire to expand her territory. Even his physical description is similar, to the point where it makes me wonder if the Tarkir Dragonlords were Ugin's imperfect attempts to re-create his estranged siblings.

You know they came about after he was defeated right?

Uh no, the Tarkir Dragonlords existed long before Ugin was pwned by Bolas there. They showed up in Khanfall because Tasigur betrayed the other clans to them, and Ojutai and Silumgar decided to form a temporary alliance. In fact, IIRC, they were the first to emerge from the dragonstorms, which is why they're "Elder Dragons".

Sigh. This isn't what I wanted from him.

What did you want from him? His original version was all about toughness, and he himself was a fan of order and civilization.

Defender-matters looks very fitting for him, to be honest.

    >Defender commander

Oh my word. OH MY WORD! I didn't even know I wanted this, but I want this!

    *Calms down*

Well anyway, Arcades will make a very interesting general. I hope the folks who were complaining about Palladia and Chromium not being commander material will respect this one.

    More for my VV2 deck.

You're really dedicated to this, aren't you?

I agree that it's a pretty fun-looking card, especially if your opponent tutored something important and put it on top.

iirc this is all stuff we already knew about. I enjoy knights and it has one of the best lords of any tribe. Unfortunately, these cards aren’t particularly good :/

We knew about the sword, and maybe Valiant Knight (I don't recall that, but it looks vaguely familiar), but did we already know about Lena?

    and new Kaladeshis are nice.

These are the kind of legendary creatures I've been wanting from Kaladesh block.

Saheeli's ult should say "whenever a nontoken etb..." otherwise it goes infinite. Her second ability feels too similar to the ult. Maybe return an artifact from graveyard? Or draw cards equal to the number of artifacts you control? I dunno.

I think I'm satisfied with where both of them are at, but someone else can chime in at any time.

Not that the card isn’t good, but the name of this card deserves something much cooler than a simple draw spell. I initially thought it was going to have Phyrexian connections based on the name.

Considering it's in the Tezzeret planeswalker deck, and New Phyrexia isn't one of the planes featured in this Core Set, there was a very good chance it would have had something to do with Tezzeret.
