    Greetings all,

I've been away from Magic for some time (Visions was the last thing out when I left) and I've taken the plunge to come back. I've been durdling around with Merfolk and some loaner decks to get the feel for the game again and some online research. But there's so much out there that narrowing things down to decks I'd like to give an extended whirl to is proving tricky. So I'm hoping for some guidance.

When I played before, I always enjoyed decks that won via creatures. I either typically played blue decks that could cheat out larger creatures faster with Mox's/Lotus's/Sol Rings/etc or I played black for hand disruption and quick creatures with either a blue or red splash for removal or counter spells. That being said, whilst Mahamoti djinn might have been a boss back in the day, sadly it's not now. And apparently I'm old...

So I'm looking for a new deck that wins via creatures. I don't care how they get there/on the board, though cheating them out is always nice. In durdling around, I'm finding decks that ignore me to setup whatever combo it is they want are irritating. So something that puts a boot in quickly with a nice big ignore me at your peril sign would be nice as well.

    Suggestions?

    Greetings all!

I've been reading this thread for a bit and figured I'd finally get my feet wet... (I can't help it. My toddler loves the horrible Dad jokes). I played magic back in the day but haven't played in ages. I thing Visions was the last set out. However some friends have pulled me back in and since I've seen that Merfolk is a thing, that's been my main love.

I'm one of those in for a penny, in for a pound kind of people. So I mostly bought one of Nikachu's deck and one to my first Magic event ever last night. Had a tone of fun and leard a lot (No more Mana burn!?!) but I came out with some questions I hoping you could give me a hand with.

1: I love the extra card draw from the Silvergill Adept and Spreading Sea's. They kept the motor going when I drew them. However when I didn't, if I hand't won the game by the time I was out of the cards I typically ended up losing. Are there any recommended ways of drawing more cards or do I simply need to be more explosive so that by the time I'm out of the cards I've won?

2: Harbinger of the Tides. I see the potential and his flash bit is quite neat. But I rarely found myself in the spot with four mana open and typically would have prefered having a Vapor Snag in hand. I know it costs more card slots, so maybe this is a poor idea, but I was considering pulling them for Coralhelm Commanders. They give me another cheap body to get on the field and they have the potential to be another Lord pumping things. Though with Fatal Push about, perhaps that's not a great idea.

3: Merrow Reejeery. He/She is sweet. I don't have any complains about it's cost or ability. However I was wondering why not diversify with one's unblockable options? Islandwalk is great and giving to everyone is also great but I was wondering last night if Lord of Atlantis/Master of the Pearl Trident were enough to consider swapping the Reejeery's with Merfolk Sovereign's? That way I could still plink damage through if I'm waiting for that Spreading Sea's.

4: Elves. So, that was an experiance. How does a small creature swarm army beat a bigger and faster swarm? With everything else I played against I was in with a chance but with Elves I was blitzed off the board so quickly. It was amazing to watch but next time I'd like to put up at least a little resistance.

5: Kira. Are people main boarding her or side boarding her? I didn't see a lot of creature kill hate, mostly hand disruption so I'm wondering about her value.

Man. Magic was so much simplier when Elvish Archers and Shivan Dragons were the cool kids on the block.

    Sorry for the rambles!
