Everybody is talking about chainer, and i love it too. It's one of those cards that does everything i want in my Gyrus deck. Discard + Reanimate + Haste enabler. But the main reason for me, and one that many seem to miss, is that casting your commander from the command zone also counts as "didn't cast from hand"
With Core2020 out and c19 on the horizon, it's time to rethink some cardchoices. I have a feeling the flash subtheme NimBalor incorporated earlier has gained a huge payoff in Nightpack Ambusher. This card, to me an auto include, could be the deck's lieutenant as a way to gain extra value for playing at instant speed, all while doing the things i allready wanted to do.
This could warrant inclusion of cards like Vedalken Orrery, Winding Canyons, Vivien, Champion of the Wilds, Yeva, Nature's Herald aswell as the wolves that naturally have flash.
I'm also including the pup for obvious cuteness flavor reasons and double triggers.
This is my list exactly, if not for Sun Titan
Grave hate would have to be on theme for me to run it to be honest. RiP and Leyline would get my vote voor stricktly being the best though.
Kinda silly that this card simply trumps Skyknight Legionnaire.
Dont know when UR got more efficient creatures than WR by an entire manacost, but here we are I guess.
1 more mana to remove the drawback from Goblin Guide and give it flying?
Plus it has 2 very relevant creature types.
This card will see constructed play 100%
Edit
Actually the more I think about it, the more I realise this is one of the most disgusting examples of power creep we have witnessed yet.
Within the current standard environment i agree, but remember we also have Mantis Rider which in itself is just a stacked creature and trading Vigilance for W is at least on par.
Edit: Must not 2/2 for 2 and 3/3 for 3 is considered even.
So, wizards is really going all the way with (re)printing grave hate in Core2020.
With that, we potentially get an on-tribe scooze like effect in Apostle of Purifying Light.
I'd like to break this one down with you all, since it's a human with relevant protection and an activated ability we can actually use with our existing manabase, albeit a little steep in cost.
Maindeckable as a one off perhaps, or not even worth considering as a sideboard piece?
Let's hear what your feeling is on this one!
Disclaimer: Following comment is based on what i understand thusfar in regards to the "(For example, 2B and 1BB are different mana costs.)" explanation and understanding of the current modern format
When comparing this card to Tarmogoyf you have to do so in the context of eternal formats and mainly modern midrange, since that's where that card is played most.
The modern format is also one where 4toughness is a very important feature to have on a creature to be considered playable if it doesn't come with protection or some way to gain value from it before it gets removed. Otherwise it has to be cost efficient so that the 1v1 trade into fo a Lightning Bolt, for instance, is worth it.
With the current speed of the format, curve is also of some importance and considering these factors, this guy has to land on curve with at least 4 different mana costing nonland cards in the yard.
To my limited knowledge, only RBx based midrange decks can do that (easilly) using loot/rummage spells. But the decks that run those, don't run Goyf.
I've tried to sequence T1, T2, T3 in existing GBx midrange shells. In those existing decks, my own traverse list could potentially do this, but often this is not the best line of play and heavilly dependent on the opponent's game plan.
The card definitely has some build around potential but imho this creature will hardly ever be cast on curve as a 4/4 and should be considered a fininsher for the late(r) game. It then can enter as a 4/4 or bigger deathtouch/flying threat, depending on build. Which is very, very good.
I can see myself trying out 1 or 2 of these in my list, but to do so, i want to cut on the top end.
I was in the process of building a 5c jank tribal Niv-Mizzet Reborn deck which includes the 11gates and Maze's End.
With the spoiling of this card, i'm sure this is the commander fo 5c lands/jank tribal
If this is true, it's a pretty decent Arguel's Blood Fast/Greed variant for more aggressive Bx (EDH)decks. Really like this one!
It's a potential 2for1 in Tolsimir. Pretty nice
Awesome card with an awesome design. Good job!

Sequence i.e.:
* T1: Thoughtseize/Inquisition + Mishra's Bauble
* T2: Traverse + Path
* T3: Demon with 4 counters.

You sir, are not alone!

This card reminiscent of Raised By Wolves.
