This card makes for a pretty nice Human next to Thalia, non-legendary might mean Thalia can be trimmed down even.
This card taxes and is fine in multiples.
I have had some time to let my initial emotions on Kaya's Guile settle, and have come to the conclusion that this card is even better as i thought this morning. Half asleep, i totally missed the "choose two" line.
In my revaluation it's as close to or even better than jund's Kolaghan's Command for it's flexibility in the current meta. I'm very convinced this card will see modern play, fits one of my stronger modern decks, is pre-order worthy and i will try some number of them in my list.
I very much like the new Yawgmoth as a card on it's own i must say.
I too have been eyeing spoilers for additions to Abzan and thusfar nothing much, but the now spoiled Kaya's Guile triggered me instantly. It has a little bit of Lili/Ooze/Souls/Finks all in one card.
Could this maybe replace one of our LotV's as a one shot removal piece with added flexibility stapled on, or should it be considered sideboard material at best?
Except for protection colors, I think it’s not good. I don’t know any modern or legacy deck that use both artifact and planeswalker except Tron or red prison.
For maximum value, you want to hit both obviously. That will matter in multiplayer, but 1v1 is unlikely.
Think of it this way then, and suddenly it makes a little more sense.
This sword takes away the choice "hit planeswalker" vs "hit life total".
That could make a mayor difference for aggressive strategies vs GBx midrange (lili's), URx control (Jace's) or even TRON (Karn/Ugin) for instance.
For the artifact removal i struggle to find any real application apart from against Hollow One but those can block too, next to that most played non-creature artifacts are used to either prevent attacking or provide some control. Even Aether Vial is able to drop something in front it the equipped creature.
In the end though, without efficient ways to find and play singleton swords in your 75. They unfortunately probably won't see play at all.
It's a shame they limit recent designs to creatures/permanents you don't control. At least Path can be used to ramp if needed. both Assassin's Trophy and this are purposely limited in that way.
The part of “creatures you don’t control” is there soo when you overload it your stuff isn’t exiled. Overload makes the spell do the effect for all things ( remove “target” and put a “each”).
I wonder if it could be used vs hexproof stuff..

I absolutely love this card for nostalgic reasons and i want a foil just for that original Visions art. i missed it the last two printruns and always forget to check for it when i buy singles

Modern Horizons is getting better and better.

Reminds me of Supreme Will which was very good when it was in standard.
Yes offcourse. My bad
You lose one life for each creature exiled/destroyed this way?
How is this good enough at a 2cmc sorcery without overload when you mention Path in the same sentence?
I'm in the market for one each
