How much saltiness do you guys run into when playing infect? I play Infect in Pauper on MTGO and quite frequently will get a Match concession on turn 1 as soon as my Glistener Elf lands.
I am thinking of trying another Modern deck on MTGO and could convert my Pauper quite easily but am a little tired of facing off against crybabies.
Hi all. I'm looking at getting into this deck both online and for real. I've been doing a lot of reading up on the deck and watching as many youtube matches as I can. The deck looks like a lot of fun with a fair amount of decision making involved which appeals to me.
I was planning to start with the Trevor May list for the most part - maybe 23 lands though. I dunno.
Any additional advice for a newb to the deck would be much appreciated.
2-0 vs Monogreen Tron
G1 had a fast land that killed on turn 4 with Reflector bouncing his Wurmcoil
G2 kept a hand with a lot of disruption (2 MM and Image) and got to lock a lot of his board wipes/removals and went chipping his life. He landed a Karn that I kept in control while applying pressure to his life. When he played Wurmcoil, Reflector Mage sealed the deal bouncing it and attacking for lethal.
2-1 vs Ponza
G1 kept him off from Moon with Freebooter after a slow start on his side. Reflector kept Courser of the board when he had 3 mana and my Champion got huge.
G2 I bricked on draws after we traded some stuff and I overcommited on the board, which made possible for an Anger to turn the board to his favor after he played Stormbreath to completely block my huge Champion.
G2 kept a greedy hand with 1 land, 2 dorks, Champion and Reflector Mage. But I was on a mull to 5, so that was acceptable. Scryed Vial on top and he missed his 3rd land drop. He kills my Parish, and some turns later I had 3 Reflector Mages on the board (one being Phantasmal). The tempo loss was too great for him to come back and Lieutenant ended the game.
2-1 vs RG Eldrazi
Won G1 quickly on the play. Meddling Mage got to name Smasher, since I had seen it on a trigger from Reshaper and 2 Mantis Riders raced him.
G2 he won on a land light hand of my part that didn't get there.
G3 Kept a lousy hand with 2 Images, Champion and Reflector. He killed my turn 2 Lieutenant and I had to double Image on his Reshaper. We both drew a lot of lands and, after some turns, he played Smasher. I Hostage Took it and played the next turn. Feels good to win against Eldrazi using Eldrazi.
0-2 vs BR Pack Rat Rabble Moon
G1 Mull to 5, kept 1 land, got Moon'd and never drew the 3rd land.
G2 Mull to 6, kept 1 land, got Moon'd AND KCommanded destroying Vial and killing my Noble. Never drew the 2nd land.
It's a form of reach, and as demonstrated in a match versus Jeskai control from Zan Syed, it's a nice comback after a wrath. Though i''m not convinced by the utility Pia and Kiran provide in this deck. Pia Nalaar offers the same base body, human creature type but her abilities are easier to our mana base. Only trading one thopter for one mana discount. After a wrath she can be used to keep blockers in check, provides a manasink and some form of reach trough evasion.
Also, like Pia and Kiran, makes multiple copies of Aether Vial worthwile.
I run her as my utility creature of choise in standard at the moment. Just my 2cts.
Hi all. I am going to take my basically "standard issue" Humans deck to FNM for the first time tonight. I just need to iron out my sideboard and I should be good. I saw some interesting variation of the deck in the coverage today. We'll see how this goes and how it evolves over time.
Played a few games against my buddy this morning running his Death's Shadow. We play a series of games without sideboarding and then do a few with sideboarding.
His hand disruption worked well against me gutting my combo pieces, Chords and CoCos. I was able to hang on a little and steal a few games with Ballista shooting him for the win but it was tough.
I am thinking I will stuck with the deck and play the under the radar angle. I still like the deck - when it is running correctly it is very explosive. Plus, it would be about $500 to buy into a different deck...
I have been either winning easily and fast through the combo, in a longer and more grindy game through Finks life-gain, or losing bad through not hitting or having the combo disrupted.
I have been trying to figure out a way to make the combo more consistent and/or less fragile. Proper game-play and sequencing has helped but when they kill Druid it really hurts.
My initial list when I started playing this deck was somewhat similar to yours. I had 2 Walking Ballista in the main as finishers. I also ran 2 Viscera Seer and 1 Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit along with ScOoze I believe. I liked it and can see how having 3-4 rather than 2 Duskwatch Recruiter main might be nice.
It's been too quiet here lately... Made a minor adjustment to the main deck for now. I want to up my odds slightly of having Duskwatch Recruiter in hand.

I am looking at how to add this as well. I think it has a place in our 75 for sure.
