Bobs do seem pretty good, especially with Top... However I try to avoid lifelose wherever I can. I can just imagine having a bob out and having the vault-key combo in process and losing. You have no idea how many times that has happpened with Mana Crypt. For sure you do not run 4 for this reason but still it makes your matchup against creature and aggro decks worse.
One thing I don't like about the Oath package is it takes up a lot of sideboard slots. My meta is looking to be Tez, Grow and Dredge.... So i need the Seals, Goyfs and Threads of disloyalty and GY hate. My SB is looking like this ATM:
And that is probably not enough hate, so I really don't have any room....
This upcoming sunday there is a ancestral tournament at my local store. Christopher Rush is going to be there and its going to be very awesome.... So i need to get my decklist finallized for then.... Heres my main deck
So they decided to print Savannah Lions at uncommon with a relevant creature type. Sure this isn't that spectacular with NomNom and Nacatl in the format, but this shows that lightning bolt isnt just a random card experiment, but that this entire core set is going to be aggresively costed.
Hey Guys, So I have been just browsing over this thread for a while, looking at all the fantastic art and admiring all your guyses savage talent. Especially CK, I have been to your site often and it has added a new appreciation to the game how fantastic you alter cards. Finally I am convinced and inspired enough to try it myself. All I could do was draw a Mox Jet on a card with a black sharpie.... I am not the best artist but what ever.
So I was wondering what materials you use? Someone was telling me how a Magic Eraser can erase card text, but then what markers/paints do you use to get the epic results? I just wanna test it out, get some practice in and go from there. Thanks guys and keep up the great work! =)
Fair Enough, my reasoning behind Goyf is this, I find myself boarding him in almost every round, against fish, against stax, against TPS, against the mirror, against gro, all because a resolved goyf is usually a 4/5, which means if there is a point in which both me and my opponent run out of gas, sitting with a 2-5 turn clock makes all the difference. Also, it allows you to take more time, as you can block all day against decks running creatures.
But yes, those reasons aside I think I might agree with you. It has really diluted the mana base to a point that I have to chose between a t1 $sieze or a tarmogoyf. Maybe if they printed enemy fetches this idea would be better.
The problem with yixlid jailer is most dredge decks have access to both dark blast and contagion which both shut him down. Leyline can be answered with emerald charm. So the only cards I see which are the most efficiant against ichorid are Relic of Progenitus, Tormods Crpyt and Pithing Needle.
And also, honestly I do not think I am a good enough player to play exterpate properly. lol
I love the trygon predators, as it can take out everyhting from necropotence to null rod to 3sphere to sundering titan. I will try some in the board but I also like my goyfs so maybe both =)
Seal of primoridan seems pretty good, like resolving it is gg against the mirror. Might even wanna pack some krosan grip if i see some of it appearing.
So taking your advice to heart I think this could be my new sideboard:
2 Pithing Needle
2 Tormod's Crypt
3 Relic of Progenitus
1 Yixlid Jailer
1 Seal of Primordium
1 Krosan Grip
4 Goyf
2 Predator
The burning wish is the tech. Balance beats creature decks and gets around commandeer. Morningtide if played right can devastate dredge, damnation is for more creature decks and volc hammer is for blowing up the magus or maybe getting the last 3 damage through. One judge question is with a magus in play is Tribal Flames a 1 damage burn spell? or the lands still have the land types and make tribal flames pretty beast?
For the other 4 sideboard slots, I have a few options, my meta is looking like lots of Grow, Tez, Servant, Storm combo and dredge.
Potential SB options
Leyline of the Void - you can never have enough drdge hate
Duress - more disruption verse storm
Pithing Needle - helps against the mirror and dredge
Tinket Mage - its a creature and helps against LD/Moon effects
Morningtide - more dredge hate
Krosan Grip - against the mirror.
i dont know how good the burning wish tech is. wut do people think?
I really like the Goyfs maindeck, when players run out of gas, having a 5/6 on your side of the table is fantastic. I really wanna incorperate them in, but i dont know if the manabase can take it.
Also guys, using my current list, which i will update the OP with shortly, i won a vintage tournament and $40!
A new inovation I am trying is a singleton dark ritual. its awesome for accerating into tez or some artifacts, plus it gets epic with a yawg will.
My next question is null rod. Through intensive testing I have concluded we just flat out lose to that card, with 2 MD outs against it. ATM my game plan is never let it resolve, but do you guys have any tips with how to deal with NR?
the reason this deck i going to be so good post m10 is becuase you can play 4 duress, and 4 thoughseize. With some beaters and Rack as backup, how can you lose!
Do you think he will have any effect on the meta game?
Comments?
