I was playing my Jaya Ballard deck vs a sharuum combo deck, another esper deck, and super jank Hanna ship's navigator.
At the end of a very back and forth game I had curse of bloodletting on Sharuum and I knew Sharuum was about to combo off. So I played heartless hidetsugu and responded to her kill spell with word of seizing and killed Sharuum. I was feeling pretty cool until over the next couple of turns both myself and the other esper mage died to a squire powered up by dragon blood being made unblockable by a flying carpet, with planeswalker's mirth keeping him out of lethal from heartless hidetsugu triggers and my other creatures.
I'm curious: Is that -4 points for an infinite combo, or is it -4 points for each iteration of the combo beyond the fourth? The former isn't too insane, while the latter is absolutely bonkers.

I've been running this cube with my friends for well over a year now. I just bought a ton of sleeves one day and threw it together (which is why the number of cards in the cube is a bit random). I've slowly been tweaking it ever since. I don't really want to create proxies (although you guys make some really pretty ones), so my cube is unpowered.
I usually draft this with 4-5 of my friends. We all prefer slower, multicolor, midrange decks and are fairly timmy at heart. Hence there is a lot of high cost and multicolor spells. I tried to put at least one massively expensive card in each color, and to my knowledge all of them have been cast. Every color is drafted about evenly at that size and they all seem fairly balanced. If we get a full 8-man pod it isn't quite as balanced as someone usually ends up with a horrifying R/W aggro deck that cleans house. We also pack wars with this a fair amount.
"Skill Kill cards" are a cycle of 6 really bad cards that I added for personal amusement. The goal is to use these to strike the killing blow on your opponent for brownie points. They have been super fun, as sometimes what would have been a one-sided, dull game of magic turns into a in-depth strategic game of doing everything in one's power to not die to said card. Amusing plays off the top of my head, Tinker -> Doom Cannon with Myr Battlesphere on the field. Pthisis targeting Worldspine Wurm. I believe every one of them has killed someone, maybe with the exception of Chaos Harlequin.
At one point I had all the swords of x&y, but everyone found them to be unenjoyable to play against. These and pristine angel have been removed for this reason. No other cards have been removed for power reasons.
I'm also fairly cheap, so I haven't gotten around to picking up the second half of the shocklands. I'm also looking around for a mono-black utility land to complete my minicycle. Leaning towards Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth but I haven't been able to trade for one.
Just played 3 games with this tonight against 5c planes walkers and mono-R beats.
Game 1- one player got mana screwed and scute mob single handedly took him to 20. Small storm tendrils him, swarm the other with essence of the wilds. Deck ran flawlessly.
Game 2- attacked someone to draw a handleful of cards with Edric. Stormed out hard. Half-way through my storming one player wheeled us with jace's archivist and I had to discard tendrils and my two ways to get it back. I continued storming, and made about 30 essence of the wilds. Shipped the turn. Man milled me to death with archivist. Horrible punt on my part, all my sac outlets were essence of the wilds so I couldn't live with grave purge.
Game 3 - 5c control man goes crazy and mills me for 20 with jace 1.0 then reanimates 20 of my creatures plus Edric, ultimating with liliana. Then casts maelstrum wanderer cascading into venser to make them unblockable with no max hand size. Previously playing wipe away of my fecundity in response to a wrath really did me in though.
So I traded for a really pretty FNM Tendrils of Agony and figured I'd make a deck based on it. I don't enjoy creating infinite combos, so here's what I came up with.
The idea is to draw a card every time I cast or kill a creature (with Fecundity and whatnot) in addition to a way gain mana whenever I cast a creature (like Citanul Hierophants+Nettle Sentinel, then gain a reasonably large storm count and burn the table out or overrun them with tokens/essence of the wilds.

-Horde of creatures/artifacts (20+) including unwinding clock, druidic satchel, wurmcoil and the like. Way more creatures than I have.
Ulamog and Gisela both have the ability to kill me, more or less whenever they darn well please. The imminent threat of the other (which I point out whenever someone glances at me) and the desire to cast spells (Angelic Arbiter) has kept me alive for a while. My politics eventually falls out and I am too squishy a target. Ulamog mauls me for 20 (yeah gisela), with ulamog.
My turn rolls around and I full swing into Ulamog as passiveness will just get me killed. 95% of my team does nothing but get chumped by indestructible flying artifacts, but they successfully distract my opponent from my real goals. 1) Getting my eternal witness killed. Because value town is good. 2) Not getting my blightsteel overly chumped, (He throws around 22 toughness in front of Blightsteel).
After blockers are declared, I use Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion on Blightsteel. Suddenly, Ulamog goes from safely stabilized to 20+ poison (yay gisela).
Sunhome had been heavily talked about early in the game when I played it as the gisela player wanted one for his deck. So this information wasn't exactly hidden.
Does torpor orb stop my opponents from being able to exile cheatyface if I sneak it into play?
I have a cheatyface EDH deck with torpor orb in it so this question has come up a few times now.
It seems to me that cheatyface has a trigger on it, so that when cheatyface ETB to check if an opponent noticed it or not. Hence torpor orb should stop that ETB trigger from happening. Others others argue it isn't an ETB trigger, but I don't know what else it could be.
Playing Rackdos splashing U, and my opponent is Azorius. Ground is completely flooded with stuff and my opponent is hiding behind his Sphere of Safety (a good three of my creatures are under paralyzing grasp with a reasonable life total (12ish). He's slowly picking me off with some 1/3 flyers while his Fencing Ace with Knightly Valor completely shuts down any hope of attacking.
Playing 3 two-headed giant teams. Turn two, one of the players was like "Screw it! I'm going to lose this game!" and casts final fortune. Reaperking deck was like "Screw you! You're not losing! WE ARE!" commandeer
Playing two-head giant. I'm Izzet splashing black. My deck has all the removal for ever. My team mate is golgari. He drew a lot of cards of inspiration.
Anyway match one, I keep a five land thoughtflare and something else. Opponent plays turn 1 Rakdos Cackler, turn 2 Thrill-kill assassin (both unleashed). I feeling good as both those cards aren't really good in two-headed.
I draw land, land, land, land, Pithing Needle. Cast thoughtflare, drawing land, land, land, land. By the end of the game I drew 16 of my 17 lands. Hardest I have mana flooded ever.
Ulamog has great synergy with the abyss. Now with extra eldrazi!

"Skill Kill cards" are a cycle of 6 really bad cards that I added for personal amusement. The goal is to use these to strike the killing blow on your opponent for brownie points. They have been super fun, as sometimes what would have been a one-sided, dull game of magic turns into a in-depth strategic game of doing everything in one's power to not die to said card. Amusing plays off the top of my head, Tinker -> Doom Cannon with Myr Battlesphere on the field. Pthisis targeting Worldspine Wurm. I believe every one of them has killed someone, maybe with the exception of Chaos Harlequin.
At one point I had all the swords of x&y, but everyone found them to be unenjoyable to play against. These and pristine angel have been removed for this reason. No other cards have been removed for power reasons.
I'm also fairly cheap, so I haven't gotten around to picking up the second half of the shocklands. I'm also looking around for a mono-black utility land to complete my minicycle. Leaning towards Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth but I haven't been able to trade for one.
Runner-up is Darksteel Colossus, specifically while equipped with Worldslayer. Who needs infect when you have hilariously janky 2-card combos?
Game 1- one player got mana screwed and scute mob single handedly took him to 20. Small storm tendrils him, swarm the other with essence of the wilds. Deck ran flawlessly.
Game 2- attacked someone to draw a handleful of cards with Edric. Stormed out hard. Half-way through my storming one player wheeled us with jace's archivist and I had to discard tendrils and my two ways to get it back. I continued storming, and made about 30 essence of the wilds. Shipped the turn. Man milled me to death with archivist. Horrible punt on my part, all my sac outlets were essence of the wilds so I couldn't live with grave purge.
Game 3 - 5c control man goes crazy and mills me for 20 with jace 1.0 then reanimates 20 of my creatures plus Edric, ultimating with liliana. Then casts maelstrum wanderer cascading into venser to make them unblockable with no max hand size. Previously playing wipe away of my fecundity in response to a wrath really did me in though.
Overall I'm happy with how it ran though.

Ulamog and Gisela both have the ability to kill me, more or less whenever they darn well please. The imminent threat of the other (which I point out whenever someone glances at me) and the desire to cast spells (Angelic Arbiter) has kept me alive for a while. My politics eventually falls out and I am too squishy a target. Ulamog mauls me for 20 (yeah gisela), with ulamog.
My turn rolls around and I full swing into Ulamog as passiveness will just get me killed. 95% of my team does nothing but get chumped by indestructible flying artifacts, but they successfully distract my opponent from my real goals. 1) Getting my eternal witness killed. Because value town is good. 2) Not getting my blightsteel overly chumped, (He throws around 22 toughness in front of Blightsteel).
After blockers are declared, I use Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion on Blightsteel. Suddenly, Ulamog goes from safely stabilized to 20+ poison (yay gisela).
Gisela shows me his terminus, hellkite charger. After using the first, he could play and equip the charger with sword of feast and famine and swing for infinite... if I didn't have lurking predators, aura shards and hatred as the top card of my library (oracle of mul daya revealing). Most arbitrary rattlesnake ever, but I'm not complaining. He casts an angel and passes the turn, hiding behind his indestructible team.
I draw for turn and have in hand (sol ring and Marshal's Anthem). Cast Marshal's Anthem kicked twice for, Fierce Empath and Eternal Witness (only creatures in the graveyard). Eternal Witness gets me cultivate. Fierce Empath gets me Admonition Angel. landfall, landfall.... Swing for game.
I have a cheatyface EDH deck with torpor orb in it so this question has come up a few times now.
It seems to me that cheatyface has a trigger on it, so that when cheatyface ETB to check if an opponent noticed it or not. Hence torpor orb should stop that ETB trigger from happening. Others others argue it isn't an ETB trigger, but I don't know what else it could be.
Aside: Desecration Demon can be tapped and thus can't even block. Annoying.
Finally hit enough land to Traitorous Instinct on the 3/3 fencing ace. Teleportal it, before paying 5 for Sphere of Safety to swing for game.
Sit down with my Tivadar of thorn, my friend sits down (not seeing my general) and pulls out krenko, mob boss. Turn 1, draw Tivadar's crusade. Krenko player was not pleased.
More 2-headed giant fun. Team 2 casts Rite of Replication kicked on team 1's tine shike (for giggles). Team 1 casts Rite of Replication on it also. Next turn the drop coat of arms and swing for the fences.
Anyway match one, I keep a five land thoughtflare and something else. Opponent plays turn 1 Rakdos Cackler, turn 2 Thrill-kill assassin (both unleashed). I feeling good as both those cards aren't really good in two-headed.
I draw land, land, land, land, Pithing Needle. Cast thoughtflare, drawing land, land, land, land. By the end of the game I drew 16 of my 17 lands. Hardest I have mana flooded ever.

It was not even fun to win that way. I don't want to know that I gave someone the least enjoyable game they've ever had.
