Stuff like this should be limited to some Secret Lair variant. Modern and scifi stuff looks so wrong on Magic cards it's crazy. Can't tell you how much I dislike Dr. Who.

Sidelined? Her role in the movies was like 20 times more prominent than in the books. She was even supposed to help fight at Helms Deep. You can find some images and footage of her on the set in full armour, but it was cut. She's barely in the books compared to the movies.

Yep. If what he claims is true I would have told them to get off my property, they are trespassing and if WotC wants the cards back get a legal warrant to be served by actual law enforcement. The only "theft" was a private company stealing legally purchased material (albeit by mistake) from an individual owner. Shows you what Hasbro/WotC think of me and you (again if this is true).

Yup, they'd have to issue a court-ordered warrant to me to get those cards back. No Slivers in Aftermath, I can sit this one out too. I'm excited about the Sliver Swarm precon deck headed our way, I'm saving my money for that.

Now that you mention it, it's pretty weird slivers weren't involved in any of this supposedly totally massive mega ultra multiverse spanding world ending nobody is safe scenario. You'd figure the phyrexians would come across some slivers at this level of invasion stuff right? same with Eldrazi, but it looks like they're waiting with them. (Still very surprised and a bit disappointed we didn't see Emrakul released and have Eldrazi vs Phyrexians taking each other out)

1) Opponents got a very easy chance to kill him at istant speed before even combat begins, at least a form of Ward could had been really helpful here.
2) it triggers only for one vampire at turn, so you hardly get many triggers if any. Also, a 4/3 in a format where there are 3 opponents at 40 life points isnt exactly impressive.
3) A death trigger instead of a "leave the battlefield" trigger also makes this card much weaker. Opponents can still flicker, bounce or exile them and the ability won't do nothing.
4) It's even possible that opponents could chump block those vampires any day forcing you to have sac outlets that have the same problem to wait to have the chance to go to combat to be effective.
5) He needs a board presence to even have the chance to do the ability the same turn you cast it, unless you got a Lightning Greaves or other haste enablers. Ok, not so hard to do, but if you add this with the other 4 points, you get a creature that gonna give you probably very weak performances. At least he could had costed 1 or 2 mana more and trigger for every attacking vampire to make him appealing and appropriate for aggro necessities of traditional multiplayer EDH and not duel french commander.

This is the typical card that sounds cool on paper much more than in game, for practical purposes. It's not a bad card on a vacuum on his own, don't get me wrong eh. In a Standard, Limited or Draft could had shined a lot. But this is created to be exclusively a commander constructed card, and in that format...isn't impressive, considering especially the power creep we had of this last decade even in edh pre-con levels.

Bro your EDH meta sounds terribly boring. Must be really tiresome to hear "dies to doom blade" even when playing EDH.

The problem is that your *only* argument is "I like new cards"... which every set provides.

There are more people *not* playing modern than people playing the format, so invoking something that aligns with the majority of players will always trump what modern players want. Following your logic, they might as well never make modern sets, since they are targeted at a non-majority. See the flaw? If they're going to make a modern set, it should target modern players' perspective. Your argument simply boils down that they should only print commander cards now, since that the most popular format.

Your reply is exactly as I expected and my aim was directly to trigger it.

These are *modern* sets, a format that gets a minuscule trickle of releases... unlike, say standard (a set every 2-3 months) or hum, gee, oh right EDH which gets new cards and sets every month it seems. Between every set now containing special commander-only cards and new full commander pre-con, which, again, contain multiple brand-new car design in *every* set that comes out...

So, yeah, as a modern player, I feel annoyed that the very few modern-targeted sets should somehow placate EDH players desires. You get stuff *all* *the* *time*, so coming off telling me to get off my bias is quite the disconnected opinion.

All I'm gonna say is... Gruff Triplets are HILARIOUS with blink shenanigans.

If they do cover Final Fantasy VII for Universes Beyond then expect Tifa Lockhart to be censored unlike Chun-Li for the Street Fighter II crossover. I get why Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro didn't want to touch Power Rangers for Magic: The Gathering due to the tight grip Saban has on the IP let alone the late Jason David Frank's fallout with Hasbro. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would've been a better choice than Fallout IMO and actually breathe more life to the Ninjutsu mechanic. With Jurassic Park already confirmed I'm expecting Owen Brady and Ian Malcolm cards. That being said, people need to remember that these Universes Beyond IP crossovers are nothing more than a money grab. Universes Beyond has been a very good product for Magic: The Gathering but it has diluted the rest of the sets as they're far weaker than Lord of the Rings for example. Of course they have to make it powerful otherwise why buy the IP? IP's are not cheap. When Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro are buying out IP's in the quantity that they're buying them then they'll cost more and more money.

While Universes Beyond will bring new players to Magic: The Gathering the old players will leave. The quality will go down as there will be more gimmicks involved. They have to make up the money that they pay the companies behind these IP's. These are very expensive franchises especially Final Fantasy to buy the license for. If your Paper Trading Card Game / Collectible Card Game isn't strong enough creatively to stand on it's own then the easiest solution is to just get a popular video game series, movie franchise, comic, anime / manga, or TV show and just go with it. Is this sustainable? I don't think so. Eventually you're going to run out of good licenses before you start bringing in the bad licenses that people hate. Often times we see this in other Paper Trading Card Games / Collectible Card Games where the games get discontinued due to running out of source material and the players are set back to square one again losing all the money they've spent on them. At least companies are getting smarter on how to keep their games going without running out of source material by following the Weiss Schwarz business model by Bushiroad.
