ewww... that motor bike ... now that i see it, i think thats not something the magic world needed

i was up for new changes and kaladesh managed to give us a more "modern" magic world... but this. not a fan Frown

i mean kamigawa was already a pretty unique plane... so why, just why ?

oh and btw... did u see the arm of the rat ?
tezzeret seems likely to me with this look. its kinda esperish.

Kaladesh is probably my favourite plane in terms of aesthetics, but that was really pushing the limits of high tech in Magic. This is just too over the top for me.
I'm more into sci fi stuff than fantasy stuff in general, but I would a million times rather have ancient Japanese settings than this. And I'm sure somebody is going to come and tell me "wELL AcHtuually JaPAN HaS a hUGe mOTorCYclE sUB CulTUrE!!!" or something similar. I'd still prefer ancient Japanese stuff, particularly in a Magic setting.

Sounds good to me! I like vehicle cards.

I just wish they would put pioneer, modern and commander in Arena instead of this. I know it's a massive task though.

Maros explanation for why they shifted to black border and the acorn stamp sounds like very convoluted way to say "corporate needed these sets to make more money, so this is how we did it." To me this means that these sets will have less wacky designs (what Un-Sets were once known for) and a lot more cards that are just "merely funny" based on art and concept alone.

I don't like how much all the different Secret Lairs, Universes Beyond, and now black-bordered Un-Sets are starting to detract from Magic's core aesthetic. I guess I'm the minority here and most players just don't care, but to me it kind of feels like pumping SpongeBob Squarepants skins into a Lord of the Rings game.

I agree and I have a feeling you're definitely not in the minority.

I might have somewhat of a idea of what might become legal in eternal

    likely:
dice rolling and coin flips is the most obvious
    Augment and host
    Contraptions assemble and reassemble
cards worded like regular magic cards (examples killerbots infinity elemental, crow storm
Cards that have black border versions (example: the cheese stands alone to barren glory)
    Most of the legendaries
    The alt win condition cards
    B-I-N-G-O
    Blast from the Past
    B.O.B. (Bevy of Beebles)
    Chicken and clam folk creatures

    depends:
Artist/art related (these are easy to understand but mark might not allow it.)
Last strike and triple strike (if they allow it)
    Squirrellink and Knightlifelink
Baron von count (it’s hard to activate but might have a similar problem like leovold/black braids.)
Cards involving words or numbers (Now I Know My ABC's dodges this bullet)
By Gnome Means (first ability is black it just depends if the counter part is possibly)
The cards with same art with different abilities
Flock of rabid sheep (the type of token is the only problem it’s just coin flips for X tokens)
    Cards involving age
Grusilda, Monster Masher we're okay with this one mark may not
    Reminder/flavor text
    Involving sets (symbols) or watermarks

    not happening:
Everything else but we will give most obvious
    Gotcha cards
    Wacky stunts
Player cards (acception is Timmy, Power Gamer that card is literally a creature Quicksilver Amulet no tap required)
    Any thing involving booster packs
    Body part/clothe related
    The Countdown Is at One
    The 1/2 power creatures/donkeys
    Players outside the game
    Throwing cards in the air
    Flavor Judge
    Rules Lawyer
Gleemax (impossible to loose with that out)
Not sure but the mini game cards are probably out (example Head to Head)
Keeper of the sacred word (there’s no way in hell they will let this easy infinite +3/+3 creature)

So all the weirdest and fun cards are unlikely hehe. I'm worried by making them black border that most of the cards are going to be way too "safe". I'd like to see them go full on crazy with these un-sets. I'm worried it'll get too watered down and the "comedic" element is just too tame.

I actually feel whatever their reasons regarding the five Werewolves outside red-green was might have had todo more with Constructed than Limited. Hence three of the five cards are rare, and all five cards are a notably higher power level - because they can push them a bit more outside their main colors than they would for Limited. Though the two non-rare cards show up in Limited more due to that as well.
And despite all these off-color Werewolves being in MID, Maro at this very moment is over on Blogatog dying on the weird hill that they couldn't possible have made new Edgar's backside RW for commander because that one rare not being two-colored would have broken Limited player's brains. Sometimes it really just feels like they're coming up with reasons for their design decisions after the fact.

I hate the fact that limited formats take up so much focus of the design process for sets in general. The new Edgar is *****e either way.

I overall liked this set better than the previous one. I think it's got better and/or more interesting cards. Overall nice artwork throughout it too.

I know you don't really catch onto stuff.

    lol nice assumption there buddy.
Teferi yes, twins and lukka? nah.

Twins first got cards in Battlebond which came out Summer of 2018 and then shows back up in Throne of Eldraine the Fall 2019 set, Lukka was Ikoria the Spring 2020 set and all three showed back up in Strixhaven the Spring 2021 set. Kaya was last in Kaldheim the winter 2021 set and now in the Winter 2022 set* and before that in the Ravnica 3 block in 2018-2019.

*Crimson Vow is the "winter set" for 2022 before being pushed up two months to change up the release schedule and for this purpose how many sets a part we seen a Kaya card.

Ok, no change to what I said though. This is at least a good card and I will get one for my deck if it doesn't have crazy prices like most cards have these days.

Giant towering flying electric monster that's a 2/1 lel.

I don't think it's all that big. Gotta make some assumptions about the lightning rod it's grabbing onto, but it's probably not much bigger than a person. Also, it's not electric, it's being electrocuted, though it doesn't seem that that's a big deal for it.

It looks massive in the art dude. It may not be electric itself, but it sure as ***** likes the lightning. Huge, almost comically bad, disconnect from the art and the power of the card. It's always weird to me when they do that on cards.
That being said, it's going to do a lot of work in limited formats.

Similar to Overcharged Amalgam in that respect. It as big as the roof of a fricking house (look at the human for scale at the bottom of the picture), but only 3/3.

And the same with that new dude who transforms into Cuthulu. It just looks weird a giant ass cuthulu horror monster isn't an 8//8 or some ***** like that.

It's a shame that the legless floating ghost granny can't fly, otherwise she would punch the thing right out of the air.

Even more to my point of the art and power disconnect being dumb lel. Not saying the art is bad, just should have been for different cards. But who the **** cares what I think lel.
