Hi y’all, been out of modern for over a year. I’m trying to find a competitive deck to play. My favorite guild is UR, my favorite wedge is RUG, I love tempo decks like legacy delver. Any suggestions?
OK guys I just went 3-2 in a modern league with this list
Creatures (14)
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Hexdrinker
4 Tarmogoyf
2 Savage Knuckleblade
Spells (27)
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Serum Visions
4 Sleight of Hand
4 Stubborn Denial
3 Tarfire
3 Vapor Snag
3 Deprive
1 Dismember
1 Force of Negation
Lands (19)
1 Botanical Sanctum
2 Breeding Pool
1 Forest
1 Island
4 Misty Rainforest
1 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Spirebluff Canal
2 Steam Vents
Sideboard (15)
2 Alpine Moon
3 Ceremonious Rejection
2 Grim Lavamancer r
2 Surgical Extraction
2 Abrade 1r
2 Anger of the Gods
2 Force of Negation
Round 1 I lost a close one to tron in where op put out a thragtusk on time to buy enough time to start dropping heymakers.
Round 2 I somehow lost to black-white tokens, has anyone else had issues against that deck?
Round 3 easy win against Eldrazi and Taxes
Round 4 A hard back an forth against blue moon that I won in 3
Round 5 Made neoform combo look silly
Thoughts on card selection, first the good. Hexdrinker was an all star against blue moon I was able to slam one late and level it to 4/4 and ride it to the win, in other matchups the savannah lion mode felt pretty solid as an aggressive 1 drop. Knuckleblade has always been a pet card of mine but he was surprisingly good, being able to block larger creatures with the pump and providing an extra 2 creatures for stubborn denial, and the ability to come down with haste later to close out games was great. Not playing thoughtscour felt really nice, as having that extra control over my draws with sleight of hand was incredibly helpful in close matches. Force of negation in the board was awesome, especially against neoform. I was worried deprive would feel clunky but it actually did its job incredibly well.
Now for the bad, tarfire felt very weak and I'm wondering if its synergy with goyf is worth it or if there isn't a better option that has more game impact?
I'll come up with more thoughts on the bad side as I continue testing but thats all I've got for now.
I'm in on the Hexdrinker train I think it just works better in modern than goose, with that said for creature 13 and 14 has anyone tried nimble obstructionist? I've had alot of success with that card in styles of decks like this.
Right now I run 2 shoal, 2 leak, and 3 Stubbs main deck. Is 7 permission spells about right? https://deckbox.org/sets/1812573
There is the current list would love some thoughts.
Hey guys been testing Temur delver and really enjoying it. I'm having an issue with the creature base specifically that 4 of occupied by hooting mandrills usually. Has anyone tried other options for anything that would trigger stubborn denial? Specifically enigma drake and cryptic serpent come to mind. Hoots has been bothering me because it poisons our goyfs.

I don’t want to run snap because I’d like a proactive card and I really want to see how the deck feels without thoughtscour so no monkey. Any ideas?
