Small Modern tournament last night. Had about 25 players. I ended up 2-2. These were my match ups for the evening.

    2-0 vs. Amulet Titan
    0-2 vs Valakut
    2-0 vs U/W/R Control
    1-2 vs Dredge

Against Valakut, my opponent lucked into the cards he needed in the first game and I wasn't fast enough to kill him. Second game I saw no SB cards and was getting hosed on mana. Against Dredge I got the first game pretty easily, but I didn't see any of my SB cards in game 2 or 3 and I couldn't keep up with spot removal. I feel that I played pretty well, but I need to make some store specific tweaks to get the deck running how it should. I picked up some more Spirit Link and Cartouche of Solidarity and will probably go down to 2 Leyline in the Main and one in the SB. In their place I added 1 Cartouche and 1 Spirit Link. I may even go for Unflinching Courage if those cards aren't enough.

With Dredge gaining in popularity, what does our matchup look like against it? Any changes to the main board or side board?

Our matchup seemingly should be good. The reason I say this is that I actually haven't played against it much. I think I'm 3-1 against it, but this was with GGT. You could go up to 3 Rest in Peace if you're scared and probably 1 more life gain card main like a 2nd Spirit Link or Unflinching Courage. The only reason I bring up Courage is that a friend who I loan Bogles to for FNM wanted 1 more life gain card after losing to Burn. The Burn opponent was the same one I beat the week before, so I think he just had luckier draws (4 Goblin Guide in 1 game and Deflecting Palm in the other).

I have Spirit Link in my SB. It wouldn't take much for me to get another. On that note, should I make any changes to my main? I am in a fairly aggro meta, and I am always looking for an edge. Here is my deck for reference. Any help is always appreciated.

Small tournament report for you guys from last nights tournament at my local. I ended up 1-2 and dropped before the 4th round. I ended up playing against Burn, Abzan Elves, and 5C Humans. I managed to backdoor a win off a 4 card hand against Burn, which was pretty cool. I lost against Elves because he just got there faster than I did. I did manage to slow him down by Pathing his Elvish Archdruid and Ezuri when he tried to play them early. He ended up rebuilding his field and went pretty wide, and I wasn't able to keep up. I had a hard time siding in for the Humans match up because I have never played against it. Left in the Leylines and sided out 4 Spiritdancers. I sided in 2 Path and 2 Dromokas Command, and was not able to stem the tide as he gained field advantage. So, for a quick breakdown:

    2-0 against Burn
    1-2 against Elves
    1-2 against Humans

Can we all put our heads together can come up with an easy matchup/sideboard guide?

Actually most of my friends and shop mates critize me for starting with bogles. I really like this deck and actually it fits on my magic taste. But I am sad that everybody thinks I just wanna autowin

It is far from autowin. You will probably get game 1, but after they board in hate it changes how you play. I am a relative new Bogles player and I have found that sequencing is everything. I also catch all kinds of crap from the other players, but it is all in good fun. I have been dubbed "That damn Bogle guy" and I wear it with pride, lol.

I just started playing it myself. Only have about 10 games with it so far, but I am liking what I am seeing. It is pretty powerful and puts your opponents on a fast clock. They have to attempt to deal with the threat or get run over by it. To sum it up, I would say its a good deck.

Played a very small tournament this week. We only had 10 players and I did pretty awful(1-2). I made a handful of misplays that cost me some games.I lost the race both times to Merfolk and Spirits.

On the plus side, I managed to finish my SB so hopefully I have better tools at my disposal. After the tournament, I reflected on the matches I played and realized that there is a lot to learn with this deck in terms of sequencing and lines of play. How did you guys learn the proper way to do this?

@FoodChainGoblins, thanks for the info. Now I will know for future reference. Hopefully I can finish in the money this Thursday. On a totally unrelated note, has anyone used Ultimate Guard Supreme UX Matte sleeves? I just switched over after using UP Eclipse sleeves that were pretty much toast after one week of play. Kinda wish Dragon Shield would get off their collective ass and make a matte front sleeve.

Finally getting around to posting about my tournament from this past Thursday. I really don't remember all of the details, but a few things stand out. For reference, this is the deck I was playing. The SB is still under construction.

The only loss for the night came from UW Spirits, and specifically Blessed Alliance. I won the race in game 1, but in games 2 and 3 that card was really making it difficult for me. I also did not get clarification on how that card works vs. Leyline of Sanctity. So, how do Blessed Alliance and Leyline of Sanctity interact with one another involving target player sacrificing an attacking creature?

My other games were against Burn, Ad Nauseam, and some mono black zombie brew. Burn was a pretty favorable match up, and he misplayed several times. Ad Nauseam was also fairly easy. Leyline put in a lot of work on top of the bad draws he was getting. The mono black zombie player was pretty salty during and after the game. I thanked him for the games, and he got upset about the match. According to him "Anyone can win with a $1000 deck" Rolleyes Anyway, I went 3-1 and didn't get in the money due to bad tiebreakers. Better luck next week.

We had a small turn out last night. We average about 28 players normally, and first place is about $35 in store credit. Last night we had 15 and played 4 rounds of Swiss with a top cut to 4. We don't play out the top due to time constraints.Had several nights where we stayed until midnight, and the owner made the call for the top cut.

Finally got to play my Bogle deck last night for the first time after taking 4 months to put it together. I went 3-1 and finished just out of the money. I will post a more complete report tonight, but I played against UW Spirits, Ad Nauseam, Burn, and mono black Zombies. Only loss of the night was to Spirits. I will post a deck list later as well.

Ghalta was pretty awesome and very easy to play for 2. I would usually side out 1 or 2 depending on what I was playing against. I will probably drop the Baloths in favor of Tuskers this week when I play. I dont have my cards in front of me, by my sideboard is roughly this:

    2x Feed the Clan
    2x Back to Nature
    1x Grafdiggers Cage
    2x Scavenging Ooze
    2x Relic of Progenitus
    2x Pithing Needle
    2x Choke
1x Damping Sphere (Adding another this week. Not sure what to take out)
    1x Creeping Corrosion

I played against 2 UW Spirits, 8 Whack, Soul Sisters, and Burn. I managed to take the Soul Sisters deck from about 40 life to 0 with Ghalta and Steel Leaf. 8 Whack opened better than I did both games, and I couldnt get out of the gate quick enough before I was overrun. Spirits wasnt too bad, bot of my opponents opened up bad, allowing me to kill them pretty quickly. Spell Queller was a constant pain, but I managed to play around it.

Played in a tournament last Thursday. Managed to go 3-2 and finish 10th out of 26th. Deck didn't run as well as it should and I had some really bad match ups. Soul Sisters and 8 Whack gave me some trouble. Here is what I was running.

Still working on a sideboard for it. I was thinking of cutting 2x Vines for 2x Blossoming Defense and replacing the Baloths with Kalonian Tuskers. Any help is always appreciated.

@thatmarkguy it was a typo. I could get him out on 4 and attack on 5. I will try to get a tourney report posted next week. Once I get a few more matches in, O can start giving better info.

Hey guys. Finally back after a little break from MTG. I changed up the G/W Stompy to something a little more fun to play while I am gathering cards needed for Bogles. Played this deck last night at my local. It was a ton of fun, and a lot of people were interested in how the deck was working. 28 people for the tournament and 5 rounds with a top cut.

I managed to get Ghalta out several times, and it was pretty awesome. If I could get a somewhat decent board by turn 3, he is attacking on turn 4. I also managed to close someone out with 3 Aspect of hydra on an unblocked Geist. It was a ton of fun, and I will hopefully play better next week. As always, I am open to suggestions and deck fixes, and will try to answer any questions about this deck.
