still though its at the top of the website when you arrive. not what im use to seeing. more avid visitors might even go as far as to say "expect to see"
Super friends bothers me a bit in the meta right now as I see a lot of grixis aggro (something running death's shadow typically) or urza combinations, they seem to bring in negate type cards, thus a high chance for a countered planeswalker which can be game over in these match ups.
Dryad definitely replaces courser of kruphix.
I'm a big fan of questing beast really reverses the aggro race on its own with haste.
I do like that its death touch stares down eldrazi threats that otherwise is enough pressure to beat through or force you to block with mana dorks.
------------------
on a side note i'm really missing oko, thief of crowns cause he could level the playing field by taking out flying threats such as spirits. getting them back on the ground as 3/3s
the one i can attest to is nissa, who shakes the world just about ever wincon in the deck is castable if she sticks. she has a solid chance to sticking as she has 5 (6) loyalty to start with.
I use to use here with oko just to make 6/6 lands for the beat down game, but now shes back to pure mana doubling.
my deck doesn't support the 3/3 lands in it current form but im tinkering with some ideas on how to make it abusable again.
such at running nexus of fate for multiple turns of beat down.
with dryad of the ilysian grove scapeshifts got nice boost in power. finalyl have a prismatic omen ability that does something relevant inaddition to being prismatic omen.
a lot of titan decks in the meta are using ilysian to power out a single or two valakuts in there deck which is also packing other land combos.
I played some games keep the deck purely green red and i was performing better than the other titan decks cause i can go straight for peoples faces, instead of stacking lands for a massive primeval titan attack.
how are you guys liking Dryad???
was in a grindy match with control using sanctuary and thought, I have enough islands perhaps that would be a good way to get tooth and nail back into hand if it were countered to have a second go at it.
even more so finale of devastation for primeval titan trigger into simic growth chamber & mystic sanctuary to get finale back after u land drop the sanctuary u bounced back to your hand, so you can following turn get that 12cc finally to go off.
went 3-0-1 with a nissa, who shakes the world tooth and nail deck.
I miss the 6/6 elk lands nissa and oko use to make.
I can't figure out what either saheeli does to an ensouled artifact ensoul artifact
saheeli rai does her -2 make a 5/5 artifact copy of what ever ensoul was enchanting?
saheeli, sublime artificier does she turn one of her tokens into a 5/5 copy?
does her abilities carry over the 5/5 aspect of what ever artifact ensoul artifact is enchanting?
all the same sounding like a sweet deck to brew for using the great henge
karn's becoming quite the card, i didn't realize he tutored the whole combo except for finks.
mill opponent and win with infinite persist.
i would be splashing some what any way for assassin's trophy sideboard. so not completely counting varolz out.
for The Great Henge is there a reason any of the list im seeing don't have Steel Leaf Champion or Wayward Swordtooth?
that gets it down to 4cc the next turn.
come to thing of now that i'm thinking of Rotting Regisaur makes it
ya I would definitely play garruk tribal again, that as a top end garruk does a lot. unfortunately garruk, caller of beasts isn't a finisher, like garruk, apex predator is. Playing tribal walkers I've kind of gotten the feel that 7 is pushing the cost for finishers. 6 being the sweet spot because at 4 mana you are going from garruk wildspeaker to 6 mana cost typically.
-----------
also I think the closest thing you have to pseudo-hoof already exists, in God-Eternal Rhonas doubling all power is pretty close.
wheres the new garruk spoiled?
throne of eldraine or another set?
I switched over to a tooth and nail build for some experimenting
i only went 2/2 officially but should of been 3/1
round 1 was against burn, games 1 and 2, I comboed out with Nissa and got tooth and nail to go off. However game 2, didn't kill him because he had a deflecting palm and redirected 30 damage of a xenago emrakul to me. wasn't happy about that. Game 3 he pulled the nuts on me instead of me.
round 2, control let me resolve a nissa, who shakes the world I pulled off exactly 15 mana for emrakul and killed him game 1, game 2, was a bit of a back and forth over a few creatures, but I hit 9 mana and he ran out counters for my top deck tooth and nail.
round 3, titanshift. didn't stand a chance game 1 he ramp and lands Mwonvuli Acid-Moss on my utopia sprawl land, few turns later combos. game 2, hits me again in the ramp, i scoop.
4. beat deaths shadow. game 1 I ramp into nissa, he mistakenly ignores her and go after my life, gets me to 3 life, next turn I tooth and nail. doesn't have any discard to stop me. game 2 I land thrun and he blocks my opponents only grimaw anglur. I with no way to remove thrun, he draws no answers for thrun, I get to 9 mana and go off with a tooth and nail to end it.
Black for liliana didn't do anything all night, idea was she'd be a tutor.
Didn't get titan out tonight so I never got the field of the dead to trigger. Nissa, did all the work.
2 Eternal Witness
2 Birds of Paradise
3 genesis hydra
4 Arbor Elf
3 courser of kruphix
4 Primeval Titan
1 thrun, the last troll
3 Tooth and Nail
4 Utopia Sprawl
2 liliana vess
4 nissa, who shakes the world
3 Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner
1 field of the dead
1 [snow-covered swamp
1 Kessig Wolf Run
1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
1 Stomping Ground
1 Windswept Heath
2 Verdant Catacombs
2 Wooded Foothills
2 overgrown tomb
1 Murmuring Bosk
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Forest
2 snow-covered forest
with it might have been wizer to run grave titan over liliana vess.
other card that i'm thinking about is Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, his proliferate might be useful with the walkers, but also supports the man lands nissa is creating.
Human's isn't a good match up either, a pro human creature might mean something as well.
The goal is hit 10 mana and win with primal surge as you already known. However I'm working in fields of the dead in this current list since a large portion of the strategy is to use Primeval titan to achieve 10 mana or more, otherwise make creatures and beat down. 1 wrenn and six to goes with the theme if things grind out, if you get it early its more ramp, I only have the 1 so far.
i'm back to liliana vess for the vampiric tutor effect.
However i've been back and forth between running her or Karn, the great creator since karn can make a wish board that wins the game as well. Goes with the theme get a lot of mana and win. He also gets you sideboard tech, like trinisphere or ensnaring bridge from sideboard.
You land titan or nissa, who shakes the world and you are typically at the 10 mana position you want. It's trickier, but 3/3 lands can do a lot as well.
main win combo is still laboratory maniac primal surge empties the deck. then the draw effect of wall of blossoms wins on the spot.
1 birds of paradise
3 Courser of Kruphix
1 Eternal Witness
1 Laboratory Maniac
3 wall of blossoms
1 Thragtusk
4 Primeval Titan
1 Platinum Angel
4 Rune-Scarred Demon
2 Liliana Vess
3 nissa, who shakes the world
1 wrenn and six
4 Utopia Sprawl
2 Overgrowth
1 Asceticism
2 field of the dead
1 Boseiju, Who Shelters All
1 Breeding Pool
1 Field of Ruin
2 Forest
2 snow-covered forest
1 Kessig Wolf Run
2 Misty Rainforest
2 woodedfoot hills
3 Overgrown Tomb
1 Polluted Delta
2 verdent catacomb
1 Stomping Ground
1 Swamp
1 snow-covered swamp
1 blood crypt
i can't seem to find it, thank you.
i like your list but have you thought of using Nissa, Who Shakes the World?
I found her to be useful when playing primal surge. Her or primeval titan were the mid range card that if they stick you win by enabling a high mana cost finisher like surge. In your build im certain you'd see similar out come in powering out emrakul .
I was thinking carrion feeder + geralf's messenger + Vizier of Remedies was a combo, but then realized it wasn't...
also Yawgmoth, Thran Physician could be something young wolf + Essence Warden draw whole deck. Problem with this combo is i don't think the wolf can reanimate then have the -1/-1 counter applied, sacrificing to yawgmoth might disable the abilities target with nothing to put the counter on.
lightning axe is more for killing creatures that can put a fast clock on you, or stifle the graveyard in some way.
theres no right or wrong way to get it set up, so you can splash blue for grixis, but the core of the combo set up is always red and black for looting and ranimate spells. personally i feel like grixis makes me more vulnerable to blood moon as my mana base is more non-basic with blue. again this is preference its not making my turn 3 kill any more or less consistent.
I prefer woodfall primus as looting for hulk sometimes misses and his destroy effect and a 5/5 trampler gives you another path to victory.
Neonate is a good one of spell like serum visions, but loots. I do find that he helps in putting extra damage on an opponent if you have to go the beat down route with 5/5 trampler woodfall primus.
