I don't agree with MTG Lion in that statement of his, mostly because it is an ivory tower statement.
As it must be so easy for him to basically say "Don't support your LGS because of this one guy" as he looks like he is jumping ship. As mass boycotting WotC and not participating in local game store events because of one guy actually hurts those local game stores more and expedites the problems some locations might be having with attendance. Also if it hurts these locations big time as they might be mostly focused on MTG, then they have to close shop because of the massive decrease of foot traffic to their store.
I'm still going to play competitively because its fun, I'm going to play limited because I enjoy it, I'm going to get Unstable as I been looking forward to it for so many years now, I'm going to buy modern cards because I enjoy the format. I'm not going to let the actions of someone* I don't even know or care about get in the way of me enjoying the hobby I have loved for well over two decades now.
I dunno about other peoples stores, but where I'm at, the shop usually has events going. Whether such events be MTG, Yugioh, Pokemon, Force of Will, etc. It also used to L5R awhile back.
Plenty of magic players are dicks and dont recieve lifetime bans and have their MTGO account revoked.
What is your point? Some people get overlooked for punishment by WotC so ALL players should be immune to punishment? That's absurd.
This isnt politically motivated, but we just happened to be bringing down an punishment usually reserved for criminal behavior on someone who is political?
Many cheaters/dicks in a card game communities tend to not get a ban as swiftly because they keep a low profile and don't make as much noise about it on social media. Jeremy decided to be louder and cause more problems than perform damage control. Like he was trying to win a race to become top priority on their "To Ban List". I was expecting a 1-5 year ban, which is more of a slap on the wrist. But lifetime banning? Man that is a spicy meatball.
Nath is just ramping. By turn 5 he has 12 creatures, including a Priest of Titania, and a Gaea's Cradle out. Doran hits me on turn 4 with a Slagwurm Armor equipped Doran, putting me 1 turn out of losing the game. Scarab God hasn't done much beyond removal.
I had played a Sakura-Tribe Elder, removed with Innocent Blood by Scarab God (also affected Nath, not too big a deal), Was saving it to block Doran, got smacked for 11. Nath guy left me alone, was focused on ramping. Played out a Viscera Seer that had to block Doran to not lose the game. By this time, Scarab God has never played a creature, but Doran kept attacking me even when I had creatures. Finally I played Archfiend of Depravity to try and bring Elf Ramp back down to our level. Scarab God has 0 creatures, and Doran only had Doran, so, not going to affect either of them right away. Before my end step it gets bounced to my hand from Scarab God, leaving me open to death from Doran. At that point, I just decided that they didn't want me in the game, so, I decided to scoop.
I very rarely scoop games, only if I need to leave, or something happens that requires me to end the game. But, I just really felt like if they didn't want me to play this game, they should have told me ahead of time, instead of just ganging up on me to remove me from the game as fast as possible. Was a waste of my time, and a waste of their resources that could have gone to dealing with the Elf Ramp guy who won 3 turns later with a 50+ damage Exsanguinate
The Doran is just playing for knockouts and went after what they viewed to be "the most threatening" player at the pod. I find it facepalm worthy that the Doran didn't barrel down the Nath first. As that would be setting off my alarm bells if a player is just sitting there and is ramping.
The match sounds rage inducing. My sympathy to you as it never feels fun to get ganged up on.
While as luck would have it is a fun card, I prefer Helix Pinnacle. More likely to go off. (As you can just pump all your excess mana at the end of turn.) Luck requires you to roll dice and there are not a lot of cards that do that. You almost need to dedicate a part of your deck to recursion of you dice rolling cards.
Well there is synergy amongst the three factors.
4/15 or 26.67% of the contraptions roll dice, each roll s two dice. Hard Hat Area assembles contraptions (rolls two dice). Gift Horse makes goblins (rolls two dice). Boomflinger can potentially deal between 0-4 damage to players (rolls two dice). Thuds-For-Duds can act as creature removal (rolls two dice). Steamfloggery rolls dice and creates contraptions. Steamflogger Service Rep assembles contraptions when goblins enterplay by paying excess mana. Box of Free-Range Goblins rolls dice and makes goblins based on the result. Ground Pounder is a goblin and rolls dice. Joyride Rigger is a goblin that assembles a contraption. Steamflogger of the Month helps you get your contraptions out quicker based on progress already made, also is a goblin. Ol' Buzzbark is a goblin that has the potential to roll, on a 1:1 basis, an obscene amount of dice. Lobe Lobber can be used to expend unused mana, on a 2:1 basis, for dice rolls and minor pinging. Chittering Doom gives a secondary benefit to all the dice rolling by spawning tokens. Krark's Other Thumb allows better probability rolls. Mad Science Fair Project rolls dice and is a mana rock. Ricochet is cheap and allows more dice rolling. Painiac may not be a goblin or assemble contraptions but its a passive dice roller even if you don't swing with it often. Goblin Bookie can act as a safety net of sorts for important dice rolls (Steamfloggery) and is a goblin. Sword of Dungeons & Dragons has a higher maximum than just rolling one or two six-sided dice and can be carried by tokens. Steel Squirrel has the potential to end an opponent or put them very low based on all the dice you are rolling, also can be activated to roll dice if extremely needed. Hammer Jammer is a goblin that initially rolls dice and has synergy with a particular sword. Hammer Helper can steal an opponent's creature and also rolls dice. Goblin Bowling Team is a goblin that rolls dice. Elvish Impersonators rolls 2d6 and can either be a joke or a monster. Chicken Egg is like a cheaper Painiac except it has more toughness and can potentially have a static attack. Widget Contraption is like Hard Hat Area but more consistent. Cogmentor can be used to push contraptions contentiously to get the most use out of them each turn, also is a rigger. Goblin Tutor best to avoid 1s or 2s but everything else is golden. Work A Double assembles two contraptions. Steamflogger Temp Its a goblin rigger and it can assemble contraptions if need be later in the game. Wrench-Rigger Another goblin rigger but its extremely cheap to cast and automatically makes a contraption. Clock of DOOOOOOOOOOOOM! allows for more contraption activations and later in the game can work well with Cogmentor. Steamflogger Boss helps expedite the contraption process. First Pick is not the most cost efficient artifact/enchantment removal however it being able to assemble a contraption in addition is worth at least consideration. Urza's Science Fair Project allows for a mana sink for dice rolling.
I've also done the calculations and...
I still have 72 slots for lands, other cards, etc by staying in . Basically only 26.73% of the space is taken.
I also still have 10 slots in the contraption deck for other contraptions. Basically only 33.3% of the space is taken.
If I expanded into black and took dice rollers and contraption makers, I would have now only have 60 slots remaining.
If I were to combine 35 lands with the expansion of black I would now only have 25 slots remaining (not counting commander).
Meaning I can stuff the remaining 25 slots with answers, ramp, tutoring, rocks, other silver bordered cards, etc.
If this were 60 or 75 card commander, I wouldn't need to expand to a third color and still have so many left over slots for options.
I would be more sympathetic about the whole degenerate silver bordered thing, except I'm not a greenhorn to commander. I know black bordered gets very degenerate as well if the social contract isn't in effect.
I wouldn't mind UNCommander sticking around, it would definitely need to be its own category though like what we have for Duel Commander or Multiplayer Commander.
I sometimes do a "fast quit". but I have my reasons.
Reasoning: I am always thinking about how the match plays out. Like I run scenarios in my head as I'm weighing my odds against the threat(s) I am facing or are going to face.
If I get an okay or junk hand and the subsequent draws for my first five turns are junk, I know I am beat. So rather than play it out, I back out.
I could also be running low on resources in the hand and did a big gamble, if that blows up in my face and the next draw is junk, I back out.
Its just like playing poker, I fold if I know am beat. That is why I don't consider it rude.

I really like, gives Chance Encounter a more reliable means to spam coin flips
Garbage Elemental (B/C/D)
I now am having a tough time choosing because the deck is part Riggers+Contraptions and part Dice Rolling.
Sly Spy (F)
NEED
Very Crpytic Command (E)

Blessing card? Interesting. I am guessing it works either like monarch or like positive poison.
Hook is good, means any non-pirates I add can still be useful in addition to stuff like Arcane Adaption or Conspiracy.
That evolving wilds art is very nice.
